when Jim Hendry took over the cubs had one of the best farm systems in baseball…now they are dead last…dont say it is cause he has drafted low…if that is the case explain the boston red sox.. find out who in the hell is in charge of there scouting…it seems like someone goes down they have someone in the minors to replace him

The way this season is going so far is no surprise to me at all. I know that they have had their share of injuries, but it’s a prime example of the way Hendry fucked up the off-season. With the DeRosa trade, Hendry not only didn’t get anyone that could help the Cubs this year, but he left a glaring hole at 3b depth in the event that Ramirez goes down for a period of time. DeRosa played a credible defensive third base, and his bat was good enough to not expose the loss of Ramirez too much.

Ramirez will try to test out his calf one more time during pre-game workouts on Thursday. If he can’t go, he will be placed on the DL. Who will be called up to take Rammy’s spot on the roster you ask? A 10 year minor league veteren who never tasted a big league roster in 2b Bobby Scales. Thats right, another second baseman. If you guys were not aware, the only true third baseman on the 40 man roster is Aramis Ramirez. Given his injury history, how in the fuck can Hendry have allowed this to happen. This is the same bullshit that occured in 06 when Lee went down with the broken wrist. Hendry never had a plan b for that situation either. Then, seven weeks after Lee’s injury, the best Hendry could come up with was Phil Fucking Nevin. No wonder why the Cubs haven’t won in over 100 years.

Win last night 11-3, come back the next day and get demolished 10-0!!!! I had a feeling Dempster would come down to earth. I never did like the guy as a closer or starter. He always walked too many people for my taste.

This team will finish in last place this year. No, I’m serious, have you read Buster Olney’s column in ESPN.com? He all but says Jim Hendry is a moron, and that his moves made no sense. I live out here in California, so I don’t get the Chicago media, but from what I have read in the past few days from websites, the Chicago media is screaming bloody murder over this pathetic franchise.

I’m with the rest of you guys (been a fan since 1964) – I am not going to get myself worked up over this team. If they lose, yawn….If they win, yawn. I cannot see them making any real progress – I mean World Series winning progress – until they get an owner whom cares about winning baseball.

I hope fro-dog, and the rest of you guys, keep me abreast of what is happening on the sale of the club for those of us out in the hinterlands. Let me know if the potential owners are going to be winners, or if it will just be more of the same. Right now, the ownership question is more important to me than anything else.

In a way, I wouldn’t mind seeing this team tank for another month or so….maybe Lou will meltdown big time — at least that would be entertaining — and he’ll quit, just like he did before…

Lack of hitting aside, the bullpen stinks. Starting pitching isn’t looking very good, either.

Dumping DeRosa and Wood isn’t looking so smart at the moment, is it?
