If you’re reading this, I encountered the first meatball fan who commented to me about Urlacher’s retirement as I was working today. He said he should have taken the $1.2 million contract the Bears offered him. I said I agreed. I told him the same thing I told everyone here that he was probably offered less than that from other teams and that’s why he decided to retire.

Then, he proceeded to make the wonderful comment of wanting Urlacher to become a coach in some capacity with the Bears. The first thing that came to my mind was “If Chucky was here, he would grab him by his neck and with all of his ANGER, shake it back it back and forth until he turned blue”.

It’s fans like these (and Yeti) that make us look bad.

Sure, we at least won it once, so we are better than the Canuckleheads. However, we have the core of a recent championship team still playing and to be getting smacked by a Red Wings team with so many younger players on defense is galling. I can’t believe that they have the psychological edge on us. It’s making 2010 seem more like a flash in the pan.

Although, it feels like they were shutout these last three games. They only scored one goal the previous two. That no-goal call in Game 3 seemed to be the turning point so to speak.

The Red Wings won the Stanley Cup in 2009 after winning the Presidents’ Trophy. Vancouver won it in 2011 and promptly pissed away Games 6 and 7 against the Bruins. So, at least the Blackhawks aren’t the Canucks and at least we aren’t fans of those bags of dicks. I’d love to see them get really close again just so I could see those idiots trash their city like they did in ’94 and just two years ago.

I agree though about that trophy. Fuck it.

Fuck re-seeding! However, we beat them every game this year, so this bullshit performance is inexcusable. The Hawks weren’t shut out all season and now twice in a row?!?! What a waste. I remember that team that lost to the North Stars. Ironically, the Hawks weren’t that good the next year, but got to the Cup Finals-including sweeping Detroit in the Conference Finals.

Recent President’s Trophy winners have shit the bed in the playoffs. 8 of the last 9 did not win the Cup. Only 1 of those 8 even MADE IT to the finals. 4 lost in the First Round in the playoffs. There seems to be a certain self-satisfaction that comes with winning the trophy that dampens motivation for the playoffs-Fuck the trophy.

I think this series is done. I thought it was done after it was 1-1 and I haven’t been able to watch the last two games at all. If it gets to Game 7 I will watch, otherwise, just another great regular season ending in heartbreak for Chicago. Why not?

The only sport where the best team usually wins in the playoffs is basketball. You look at baseball, football and hockey, it’s all about who gets hot at the right time. The Stanley Cup is the hardest trophy to win in sports.

I just found out that I will be there for Game 5 on Saturday night.
