Jim Hendry

by

Making trades are easier said than done, but this is a situation that MUST be fixed. I have been critical of Cubs general manager Jim Hendry throughout his tenure but this year, I have really given him a lot of credit and he has deserved it. As long as Lou keeps overusing the pitchers, Jim Hendry needs to find a solid reliever. YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH PITCHING. This bullpen needs reinforcements and fast.

I am not saying this because Cotts and Gaudin shit themselves on Sunday. We still won the game and that is what matters and Gaudin has been pretty good since coming here. That being said, Cotts sucks, Howry really sucks, Lou keeps overusing Marmol, Wood has a blister and Samardjia as good as he has been is still learning on the job.

Lou’s use, or misuse of the bullpen worries me. He seems to only have confidence in a couple of pitchers and overworks them while the other guys rot on the bench. It kinda reminds me of how Riggleman only used Mullholland and The Shooter down the stretch in 98. I’ll swear Rod Beck’s arm was going to fall off. He couldn’t even hit 70 MPH on his fastball in the playoffs.

I wonder is Lou has confidence in Rothschild? I don’t.

Not that we WERE expecting it, but don’t expect any help from Rich Hill. In 3 starts at Class A Daytona he is 1-2 with a 8.03 ERA. In 12.1 innings of “work” he has allowed 12 hits, 11 walks, and hit 3 batters. Too bad he can’t hit like Ankiel, cuz this is one fucked up head case that isn’t getting fixed any time soon.

Talk about something you did not see coming. Rich Hill is a guy who I supported very much. I bought his jersey in the winter of 2007 and I got a ball from him on Opening Day last year as well. I sound pathetic but I was his biggest fan. It is such a shame that he is lost in the head and who knows if he will ever be back to his good form ever.

Last year, he was 11-8 in 32 starts. That is 13 no decisions and let me just say that he could of EASILY had 16 or 17 wins if he had run support along with the bullpen blowing some leads as they promptly do many times.

KSMC – I hear there’s nothing left of Beck’s arm now.

Just in case anybody wondered if I’m still alive, I am! Between work, trying to buy a house, and actually having a love life, haven’t been watching as much baseball as I’d like. FroDogs, thanks for getting this up and running!

The Cubs are wetting their pants against the Astros again tonight I see.

I can’t believe they called the fucking game, stupid umps. The storm had moved away right as they made the announcement. Had they continued, I saw a walk-off win because the stupid Astros would have left LaToya in the game and he would blow a save and lose. Final score had the game continued: 3-2 Cubs win. Fuck you umps!

Lets get them the next game!

Great too see you back Mac. I was just about to send the dogs out looking for you. Good to hear that everything is going well for you. Nobody deserves it more than you.

I do not know why the Cubs seem to lose these kinds of games when there are rain delays and what not. My memory tells me that the Cubs lose a lot of these games when there are delays throughout games especially at Wrigley.

Although the Cubs still had a chance to comeback, the fact was that they did not score any runs in the beginning of the game off of Cy Moheler. Once again, patience was not present.

Thanks for getting this site up and going Frodogs! Last night’s game sucked. I had a feeling they we’re gonna come back too. Oh well what the fuck can you do about the monsoon weather we had last night. Beware though the Stros got Cy Rodriguez on the mound today too. I see Lee is continuing to kill them as usual. I swear to god they should just walk his ass everytime he comes up to bat.

Harden lost his “hard-on” Howry sucked but kept us in it, but the offense is alive and well. Nice to see a quick 1-2-3 by the returning Kerry Wood. Lets beat these assholes!

  13. armycubsfan's avatar armycubsfan Says:

Oh, Wood did give up a single, but his pitch count was very low and he didn’t walk anybody.

Can Dusty Baker finally help the Cubs?? He has his ace going tonight against the Brewers. Then again he has his team in Dust Bucket underachieving form. Picked by sports illustrated for second he has found the cellar.

I must admit that when I heard the score on the radio – Astros 7, Cubs 6 – I thought the game was effectively over. So, when I come home and see they won 11-7, I was impressed. These are the kind of games the “Cubbies” usually lose. Maybe they are slowly moving away from the “lovable Cubbie losers” to the “mighty Cubs” after all. We shall see, there’s still a long way to go.

With that said, what is it with Pinella and Howry????? Come on Lou, the guy doesn’t have it this year. He is strictly a mop up pitcher now, so stop putting in games that matter.

It’s time for the following players to leave town:
    1. Bob “Gas Can” Howry (because putting him into the game is like pouring gas on a fire.)
    2. Daryle Kile Ward (why not bring up Hoffpauir? Hoffpauir is essentially the same kind of player only younger and a different skin color. BUT at least Hoff can hit.)

I can’t wait until the rosters expand on Sept. 1.

Not trying to change the subject or anything but I just saw the game where Frodog and his friend were at with the “Hendry Sucks” sign. You guys were funny as hell when you started jumping up and down with the sign and when Frodog told John Mabshit to leave when he struck out like always.

Nice to see the offense just exploding, even with one bad inning by Marquis. Double play Derosa was Ding-dong Derosa today. And Soriano with another productive day. 12-8 on one of the longest and toughest stretches of the season, including many road games. A well deserved day off tomorrow, so we can bury the Retardinals the next 3 games.

    GO CUBS GO!!

  21. robert's avatar robert Says:

is anyone gonna be at the next game…. I know he is not everyones favorite pitcher but how many games has marquis lost where the cubs failed to do shit for him…Fridays game …..two games against the padres where we didnt do jack shit for him

  22. erniesarmy's avatar erniesarmy Says:

I will say this, in 44 plus years as a Cub fan this pitching staff is the best I’ve seen. The only one that comes close is the Jenkins-Holtzman-Hands bunch back in the early 70’s.

Their bullpen is starting to come around (except for Howry), the starting pitching is solid, and now the bats are coming alive (except for Ramirez).

If they can continue the consistent play, and have no major injuries the rest of the way, they will go far this Oct. I’m not going to say this is the year, because they’re still the Cubs, but it does look good.

  23. ksmc2000's avatar ksmc2000 Says:

The Cubs have rebounded well from that tough Marlins series from a couple of weeks ago. I was more than a little concerned when the Brewers caught them in the standings. The Cubs have gone 9-2 since and have gained some breathing room. Let’s kick the shit out of the Retards over the weekend.

SHOW DA FIRE AND PASSION, MY FRENDT!
