Great thread title Fro Dog. Dempster has gotten ripped in the past during his days as a closer, deservedly so. When he came into spring training in great shape and made that bold prediction that the Cubs would win the World Series, we all thought he was full of shit. Boy has he proved us wrong. He has turned out to be the ace of the staff. There is only one start all season that he clearly didn’t have it. Otherwise, he has been very consistant all year. When he takes the mound these days, you expect the Cubs to win. I hope he can keep his career year going.
Please allow me to echo ksmc’s “great thread title”….and you know what? Dempster is indeed the “ace” of the staff, at least this year. No disrespect to “Big Z”…but it is what it is…a very pleasant surprise. Pass the crow, please.
We were all mad at Dempster when he was a closer. This year, I look at it much differently. Kerry Wood has been alright but he has blown more saves than Dempster did last year. So in that perspective, we do owe Dempster an apology for all of that.
Also, I fixed the time on all the comments. The settings were set on another time zone so all comments made now are central time. If you guys see your nee posting in the middle of this thread, that is why.
Sabathia wins again, but Brewers foolishly let him pitch a 130 pitch complete game in a 9-3 blowout. Talk about a manager who doesn’t trust his bullpen!
Great thread title, but they’re still the Fucklins to me.
Regarding, Dempster, am glad to have been wrong about him this year. However, I don’t think I feel confident he won’t shit his pants in a big playoff game-especially on the road. I hope I am wrong again.
Regarding Dempster last year. While I think he maybe only had 4 blown saves or so, remember that his ERA was 4.74 and he had 7 losses (versus only 5 as a starter so far this year) from failing to keep games tied. If I recall correctly he also came in with a lot of 2 and 3 run leads and gave up a homer or two before completing his saves. So, he may have had about the same amount of blown saves as Wood, he was much worse than Wood has been so far this year. But that is all irrelevant now. as long as he keeps striking those motherfuckers out!!!
I will be at the game Thursday. Unfortunately, I do not have seats behind home plate but I had an idea if I did. I would have a sign that said “DO NOT FIRE DUSTY”. I think that would make a nice headline.
I see that Greg Maddux was traded to the Dodgers for the playoff push. I hope he helps them enough to win the western division and beat out those cocksuckers from Arizona.
when dustfuck was managing the giants, before the game a whole bunch of kids were asking to see dusty’s son. Now, at this point he did not have that annoying little kid he had now. My opinion was they thought Barry Bonds was his son. Anyway, they kept screaming to see his “son”, and dustfuck started to get really irritated, yelling, “I’m telling you, I don’t have a son!” I then asked Dusty if he could start his son in center field-figuring a non-existent, invisible son would help the Cubs chances. He got pissed and went into the dugout.

This year, Dempster has shut all of our mouths.

Fro Dog,
Maybe you can throw a few verbal jabs at Dustfuck. Does he still insist on batting KKKorey leadoff? Has Neifi joined the team yet?

nemo…for some reason that story about Dusty’s son made me think of Bukowski…you ever read him?
