Roy Oswalt sucks horse cock!! Three straight losses, but at least the Brewers went down. I still refuse to panic.
September 2, 2008 at 12:35 am
I posted a few days ago that I was going to predict a pennant this year.
Can I have that prediction back?
If there is a team, of any sport, at any time in history, that is capable of blowing this, it is the Cubs!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4 hits and 0 runs! Wait till they get to the postseason (if they even get there), the pitching they face will be even better. Just imagine what Johnson, Webb, and Harden will do to that offense.
September 2, 2008 at 1:54 am
Hey Nemo, check this out, it’s from Lou:
““We’re not supposed to win every day,” Piniella said. “It’s not that easy. I think we have spoiled people, gotten people used to [winning]. But every day things don’t go your way in this business. That’s why you play 162 games. That’s why you play six months.””
Now we got Piniella calling us “spoiled.” Hey Lou, why don’t you do us all a favor and shut your mouth!!! Concentrate on getting this club ready to play baseball, rather than on the fans. When you have gone 100 years without a championship you don’t need the manager telling us were spoiled.
Looks like Piniella is starting to feel the pressure of being the manager of the most pathetic franchise in the history of professional team sports. This is not what I wanted to hear. He’s starting to sound an awful lot like Dusty, looking for excuses for sorry assed play.
September 2, 2008 at 2:18 am
Thanks, erniesarmy. fucking goddamn bullshit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Listen, Piniella, you ballwashing bastard-Yankee Fans are spoiled. Cardinal fans are spoiled, Red Sox fans are finally getting spoiled. If you are going to “spoil” us, win a couple world series first. 85-53, with two frontline starters injured is not an accomplishment. Shut the fuck up and win the world series-that is an accomplishment. I wonder if the 1906 fans felt spoiled when the best team ever (116-36) LOST the world series?! You’re not even going to win 100 now. No wonder you can’t motivate Soriano! don’t fucking panic-we are starting to do the panicking for you. YOU get out and fucking win. Figure out a way to get Derek Lee to get an rbi on anything other than a ground out. Figure out how to get more than 5 innings out of 100 pitches. Figure out how to drive runners in. Figure out how to get a double or a homer in your own goddamn ballpark!! Figure out how to win 12-3 without using Kerry Wood.
FUCK THIS SHIT!!!!!!
September 2, 2008 at 7:42 am
well….you guys have said it all.
Lou must have forgotten about the year he won 116 in Seattle, and didn’t make it to the WS. Maybe the pressure is getting to him. If you can’t take the heat, get the fuck out of the kitchen.
September 2, 2008 at 9:48 am
If these clowns continue to play like horse shit, then the only way this team could win the division is with the Brewers bullpen shitting themselves again and they are still capable of that. Just like the Cubs, they did not trade for any bullpen help. Not trading for any bullpen help still pisses me off. I think that is going to come back and haunt us.
Last year, the Brewers should of won that division by about 10 games. There were countless games in which their bullpen blew it and the Cubs backed right into the playoffs.
September 2, 2008 at 9:57 am
ernie and nemo, I just re-read your posts and they are so on the money, too bad we can’t get ESPN to read them out loud during Baseball Tonight.
All kidding aside: I wonder what Lou Piniella HONESTLY thinks of the Cubs franchise? Specifically between 1908 and 2008.
Anybody who doesn’t see how PATHETICALLY this organization has handled itself for so many years is a complete idiot…and a loser. Anybody who can’t admit it is weak…a liar (sin of omission?) and a damned ignorant sheeple.
It’s no secret that often the truth hurts, especially if you’re a Cubs fan.
This season is not over yet….but I hope Piniella keeps his “fan comments” to himself. If not, he’ll soon be as big an embarrassment as Ned Yost is right about now, protesting the “lost no-hitter”: “He accomplished a no-hitter and wasn’t given what he deserved. That should have been a no-hitter,” Yost said. ”That’s a stinking no-hitter we all got cheated from. I feel horrible for CC.”
Boo fucking hoo, you make me sick. Maybe if you focus your energies on your TEAM’S performance, your team will do well in the postseason, assuming that they get there. And that goes for you, too Lou.
Trust me, NOBODY is spoiled here.
1908-2008. 100 years. Pathetic.
tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…tick tock…
September 2, 2008 at 10:01 am
ernie posted: “the most pathetic franchise in the history of professional team sports” (the Cubs).
As I said, sometimes the truth hurts.
It’s simple: NOTHING changes until the Cubs win a WS. Like it or not.
September 2, 2008 at 7:49 pm
“Listen, Piniella, you ballwashing bastard-Yankee Fans are spoiled. Cardinal fans are spoiled, Red Sox fans are finally getting spoiled. If you are going to “spoil” us, win a couple world series first.”
Nemo, that was beautiful! Yeah, give me the kind of success the Marlins have had, then call me spoiled.
September 2, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Lou, channeling Dusty Baker: “Tie game, need a win to snap out of a losing streak. I know, I’ll bring in Howry, he’s da man.”
Lou, if I didn’t know better, I would say you are deliberately trying to lose games now.
By the way, if Zambrano is really injured, then you can forget about the postseason. It’s over.
September 2, 2008 at 9:16 pm
In comes Brown-Spot Howry, there goes another mark in the lose column. I just wish this useless bag of fuck would leave and never come back.
September 2, 2008 at 9:16 pm
FUCK BOB HOWRY! FUCK HIM IN THE ASS! I HOPE THAT TALENTLESS PIECE OF SHIT FUCKING DIES A SLOW PAINFUL DEATH. THAT FUCKING SCRUB SHOULD HAVE BEEN REALEASED MONTHS AGO, FUCKING SHITTY ASS SCRUB. WHY THE FUCK WOULD LOU PINELLA PITCH HIS USELESS ASS IN A TIE GAME? THE CUBS ARE HEADING TOWARD ANOTHER FUCKING COLLAPSE! CANT STAND THIS SHIT ANYMORE MAN IM FUCKING PISSED!
100 FUCKING YEARS!
September 2, 2008 at 9:18 pm
Earniesarmy
I think you’re right. Lou does seem like he’s mailing it in.
FUCKIN’ BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!
September 2, 2008 at 9:20 pm
Wow this is just absolutely ridiculous. Why does Lou Pinella continue to lose ballgames for this team? This is pathetic. If the Cubs make the playoffs and right now that is a HUGE IF they have no shot against top caliber pitching. I think this team has just quit. Why oh why did I grow up to be a Cubs fan.
I am going to Chicago in the middle of this month to watch the last game of the Brewers series and the first against the Cards and the way the Cubs are playing I may just say screw it and it the money.
This team right now is pathetic and their truly is no relief in sight.
September 2, 2008 at 9:39 pm
“WHY THE FUCK WOULD LOU PINELLA PITCH HIS USELESS ASS IN A TIE GAME?”
To give him some work?
Seriously, this is beyond stupid. I would like to know if there is someone who will have the guts to ask him in the news-conference what was he thinking in bringing in Howry there? I wish I could be there, I would hound him on this until he gave me a straight answer. The fans deserve to know what he thinks Howry adds to this lineup.
I also want to know what’s up with Zambrano? If he’s injured, how severe is it? Will rest help? Is he done for the season? ANSWER THE QUESTIONS LOU!!!!!!! Those of us who have lived and died with this team deserve to know if we’ve bet on another nag.
September 2, 2008 at 9:42 pm
I FUCKING HATE BALL BLOWING BOB HOWRY
RELEASE THAT SUNUVABITCH
WE ARE GOING TO SEE A COLAPSE OF 04 UNLESS THAT COCKSUCKING FAGOTT IS RELEASED
September 2, 2008 at 10:00 pm
Lou bringing in the Marmolman in the 8th. Maybe he wants to win now.
Hey Lou, you could have used a little more brains in the 6th inning you know?
September 2, 2008 at 10:09 pm
We will be very fortunate to win this game….if we do.
I, too wish somebody would ask Piniella why he continues to pitch Howry in close games…given Howry’s performance this year I think it is a valid question.
If I was GM, Howry would be gone. Hopefully he is left off the postseason roster (barring another epic collapse).
As for Z: he didn’t really look that sharp to me…I hope he’s ok, even though he’s not “the ace”.
September 2, 2008 at 10:14 pm
can that worthless fucker do anything but ground into a double play of course I am talking about dp lee
September 2, 2008 at 10:39 pm
I don’t like what I am seeing.
I lived through 1969, and this is starting to look eerily similar; blown opportunities, blown leads, pitchers getting tired, players getting tired and hitting into dps; players beginning to press – throwing bats in the dirt and throwing helmets in the field.
Lou is starting to manage like Durocher did, using guys that don’t contribute, and using guys that do contribute too much. Now he has to bring in the closer in a tie game.
September 2, 2008 at 11:01 pm
“can that worthless fucker do anything but ground into a double play”
Yeah, he can strike out in the bottom of the 10th with 2 runners on.
This is more Cub baseball, blowing opportunity after opportunity, until finally the opposing team puts them out of their misery.
Now Lou has had to use Marmol and Woody for 2 innings. Guess he figures Dempster will pitch a complete game tomorrow.
September 2, 2008 at 11:04 pm
Using Marmol and Wood for two innings each-you better fucking win because you got Samardzija and nobody else available tomorrow.
September 2, 2008 at 11:05 pm
fuck this shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
September 2, 2008 at 11:11 pm
Loss number 4, going for #5 tomorrow.
This loss is on Lou Piniella. I don’t care how much he likes Howry’s back rubs in the morning, he cannot bring him in during a tie game.
Like I said, if there is one team in all of sports that could lose this lead, and their chances to go to the playoffs, it is the Cubs.
I’m out!
September 2, 2008 at 11:16 pm
FUCK THIS GAME!!!
September 2, 2008 at 11:26 pm
This is so pathetic that it’s almost funny. I actually laughed after Wood gave up the two run homer. It really doesn’t even hurt anymore, really ever since the sweep of the Cubs in the playoffs last year. Derrek Lee is finished. Just release him. And release Boy Scout Bob Howry. Zambrano has been hurt frequently ever since he signed his contract last year. Funny how that happens. Remember Lou’s 2001 Mariners team? I wouldn’t buy this fucking pathetic Cubs team. Or Wrigley Stadium. HA HA HA HA
September 2, 2008 at 11:38 pm
Piniella just said Zambrano might be hurt. And just when you thought things couldn’t reach rock bottom….
September 3, 2008 at 12:06 am
we’re not at rock-bottom…yet
September 3, 2008 at 12:08 am
Again, the only fortunate thing is the magic number for the division has gone down despite the Cubs peeing all over themselves. If they can win tomorrow, it goes down again, and hopefully we can get some help from the Mets and Nationals.
And hopefully, hopefully, the Cubs can get it back on track for the rest of the month. The trip to Cincinnati should, SHOULD help. If they can’t win two out of three there over Dustfucky then there should be panic in the streets.
September 3, 2008 at 12:08 am
I was at Tuesday’s game then I left in the 6th inning after Brown Spot Bob gave up four runs.
I got on the bus, checked my phone and saw it was 7-6. I then got off the bus where I parked my car, turned on the radio and listened to Edmonds’ homerun. I was thinking to myself “Could this be the first time I leave a game early and the Cubs actually comeback and maybe win?” Oh fuck. Who am I kidding anyway?
So many problems with this game. Double plays, strikeouts with men in scoring position, not driving in runs and shitty bullpen. I won’t bitch too much about the offense. Seven runs should be enough to win.
Zambrano is going to see a doctor Wednesday morning. If there is a problem, then forget about any chances of this team playing deep into October. It looks like this team is falling apart.
September 3, 2008 at 12:33 am
The Cubs have a 10 game lead on the wildcard over the Phillies, so to fail to make the playoffs this year would be a choke of epic proportions-worse than 69, imho. Unfortunately, I do think the Cubs are eminently qualified at making that choke.
7 runs ought to be enough, but I still blame the offense equally, if not more. Derek Fucking Lee is a fucking idiot. Houston walks the bases loaded, Lee gets up 1-0, does he force the pitcher to throw a strike? No, he fucking swings at what was definitely a borderline strike at best-and a pitcher’s strike at that. With the pitcher struggling, he might not have gotten the call. But, NOOOOOOO, Lee fucking swings at a pitchers’ pitch and hits into a double play. Does he even know how to fucking hit a fly ball? He fucking swung down on the pitch!!!! What an idiot!!!!! The Cubs scored seven runs, Lee had two hits, but managed no rbi’s and scored no runs. talk about useless in the clutch!!! He fucking stranded 6 runners himself. How good is Hoffpauir’s glove at first? DP Lee needs to take a week off.
DeRosa, who has been so good, make a fucking bad bunt. Soriano, Blanco and Lee (again) failed to do anything with 2 on and no out.
seriously, if you are going to do this shit, just lose 7-3 in regulation. 2 extra innings on Soto plus 2 more innings each on Marmol and Wood, who prolly can’t pitch tomorrow. I don’t think I can legally say what I think about Howry!! JESUS FUCKING CHRIST I AM PISSED!!!!!!!!!!
September 3, 2008 at 7:45 am
fro dog, i’m a little disappointed…not only with the Cubs performance of late…but it appears that some of the sheeple-like smug comments that graced this site yesterday were from regular contributors at hirejimessian, a site you hipped me to, were they ganging up on fdb2?
…i like that site but some of those smug young lads could use a semester or two in finishing school, once the debutant ball is over of course.
after all, we are not the enemy! “calm down lads”
HA HA HA HA HA
September 3, 2008 at 10:14 am
Well Genre,
I guess they were trying to ease me up. They are more calm over there but still just as pissed off as us if that makes any sense. They are good people and not like the sheeple. They all want us to just try to “enjoy” the best Cubs team of our lifetimes.
I do not know what is going on. I guess if the Cubs quit like playing like gutless assholes, we would all get along fine. I understand getting beat because the other team is better, but when you lose to shitty teams, then there is cause for concern.
September 3, 2008 at 11:42 am
Re: “CT and the Essians”, I hear you Fro…and I get it. No harm done. If the Cubs make it to a WS, maybe I can get to Chicago for it…and we can all have a beer…or three.
It is possible to enjoy the Cubs success THIS YEAR (to date), I certainly have…and still hate the fact that there hasn’t been a Championship–or Championship appearance in oh so many years.
And that is why the owners and front office get so much shit from us: hell they’ve earned it, they deserve it.
As I’ve stated before, I look forward to eating crow when the Cubs finally win it all.
September 3, 2008 at 1:17 pm
Take it easy genrebuster… “Sheeple” applies nicely to the people at BCB, but not so much to the denizens of HJE, as we find plenty to disagree on and express it (unlike the BCB Nazis).
We were just trying to get Fro to enjoy this season a little. He seems so ANGRY all the time when he comes over to HJE, and this team, while frustrating at times, is certainly the best Cubs team that most of us have seen in our lifetimes. Extrapolation of short-term trends is dangerous – a few games of relatively poor baseball does not mean that the season is over. Even the best teams have crappy runs. It’s not worth getting ANGRY when the team has the best record in the NL, and is still firmly in the driver’s seat.
September 3, 2008 at 1:24 pm
Morph, you ignorant slut. Could you be more wrong?
Oh wait.
No….sorry…
I agree with you. Carry on.
For the record, I think Howry should be doused in gasoline, set on fire, and dumped from the Hancock building. But I am very calm about it.
September 3, 2008 at 1:44 pm
Gasoline is too fucking expensive. Let’s use something cheaper. The idea does have merit.
September 3, 2008 at 1:50 pm
How about impaling him on the hancock? or get hundreds of cub fans with magnifying glasses on a sunny day?
September 3, 2008 at 2:00 pm
I’d be willing to make an investment in his case.
September 3, 2008 at 2:10 pm
I can get you a good deal on monocles… which could have the desired effect.
September 3, 2008 at 3:14 pm
Morpheus, just to be clear…I wasn’t referring to YOU directly, I have no problems with your posts/tone. Honestly, I do understand that you and most others at HJE are not sheeple, I wouldn’t check in on HJE as often as I do if I felt otherwise. And we were not “sheeple-free” at fdb.com.
(speaking for myself here) Trust me: I am “taking it easy”, NOT sitting here wringing my hands over the current 4 game losing streak at home. In fact, I won’t be wringing my hands if the Cubs completely choke…because I’ve seen it all before. I want them to win and I want “to believe”…yet I remember 1969 (vaguely, I was 12) and many subsequent years of disappointment. If the Cubs fail to make it to a WS this year/again, in the end I won’t be angry with the players…it will just be more disappointment. And in the end, big fucking deal: there are more important things to get angry about than the game of baseball. That said, the tag “lovable losers” (as it applies to the Cubs) has offended me for years: whoever coined that is a raging asshole.
I think the majority of frequent contributors to HJE and/or FDB2 mostly agree on the Cubs.
As for Fro Dog, I only know him through the site…but I get a kick out of — and admire — his intensity. Like others who frequented fdb.com I am happy to see him contributing his time and efforts by hosting FDB2.
I believe you are a good fan and the tone of your posts are cool…which is why I am taking the time to respond thoughtfully. Honestly, no need for any hard feelings…we’re on the same side.
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOMM!!
September 3, 2008 at 5:15 pm
lets look at the similarities of 04 and 08
04 collapsed down the stretch
08 collapsing down the stretch
04 LaTroy Hawkins
08 Bob Howry
I would love to be served a dish of crow with humble pie for desert but I aint getting it
you wanna see true sheeple head over to cbs sportsline.com
kind of ironic cbs completely buy sheeple
September 3, 2008 at 5:55 pm
I’m still kind of in between. I’m not panicking over a four-game losing streak, just pissed about it and concerned.
It’s still a 5.0-game lead, this lineup can still bash the ultimately fuck out of the ball, and it’s going to be tough for a playoff opponent to shut this offense down. Shit, Soriano’s even starting to draw bases-on-clogs.
The Cubs still have a helluva back end of the bullpen (Howry won’t appear in one playoff game), and I’m certainly not wishing for this, but the Cubs have still been winning overall with Z getting shelled. Dempster-Harden at the top is still pretty sweet.
September 3, 2008 at 5:59 pm
Robert – Better manager, plus Howry isn’t the closer and LaGascan was. I don’t see the correlation.
Good teams are still going to struggle at times during a long season.
September 3, 2008 at 6:06 pm
As I have stated at cbs sportsline and this is the only site I know I wont be bashed for saying IT I dont give a rats ass about A division title all i give a shit about is 11 postseason victories nothing more nothing less
3 in the lds
4 in the lcs
4 in the ws
then and only then will I be happy
September 3, 2008 at 6:07 pm
let me take that back I have a job that makes me happy I have a wife and a two year old that makes me happy but when I see how my favorite football team is ran The steelers watching this crap never fails to disapoint me
September 3, 2008 at 6:08 pm
“this team, while frustrating at times, is certainly the best Cubs team that most of us have seen in our lifetimes.”
Sorry, Morpheus, not accurate. I have seen all Cub teams since 1964, and the 1984 team was the best, with the 1969 team a very close second. But, 2003 has to be considered the most successful since they are the only one’s to have won a playoff series since 1908.
Certainly, the 2008 team can surpass all that, if they can maintain their focus and intensity, and that’s a big if. I used to think they were a lock for the pennant, but after the last 4 to 6 games I no longer believe that. They are a very flawed team in terms of their defense (3 errors by Ramirez last night, plus Soriano’s and Theriot’s problems), offense (Lee has been slowing down, Fukudome is lost, etc.), and bullpen (other than Wood and Marmol the rest are mediocre). And now with Zambrano on the fritz, their starting pitching can no longer be considered dominant. Harden is fragile, Dempster has been the most consistent, but he has never pitched this many innings in more than 7 years. Lily is ok, but he gets shelled too many times for my liking (a fly ball pitcher in Wrigley is a disaster waiting to happen). And I wouldn’t want to see either Marquis or Marshall pitching in a crucial playoff game against the likes of Randy Johnson, Brandon Webb, or Dan Haren. Or, Cole Hamels, Brett Myers, C.C. Sabithia, Ben Sheets, Derek Lowe, or Chad Billingsley.
I’ve followed enough baseball to know anything can happen (see the 2004 Red Sox in the ALCS, or the 2005 Cardinals, or last years Rockies), but the Cubs are different. They have a huge millstone hanging around their necks which says 63 years without a pennant, 100 years without a World Series, and 3 major collapses in a span of 39 years. It will take a manager with enormous leadership abilities (and I’m just not convinced Piniella has it), and a group of players that can focus on the goal at hand without letting the past infect their play. That’s a very tall order.
September 3, 2008 at 6:19 pm
“As I have stated at cbs sportsline and this is the only site I know I wont be bashed for saying IT”
Absolutely right on, Robert. And, I want to say thank you FroDog for providing a place where REAL Cub fans can come to speak the truth, whether good or bad.
September 3, 2008 at 6:49 pm
It just keeps getting better and better boys and girls,
“Health reports of the Cubs’ pitching staff may be going from bad to worse as Lou Piniella admitted today for the first time that right-hander Rich Harden is experiencing “discomfort.””
and, Piniella on Zambrano,
“The MRI that he was supposed to take, he didn’t take, he didn’t take it, for whatever reason, so the examination is incomplete, so we won’t know anything until it’s complete….He was supposed to take an MRI today, it was available to him, and he didn’t take it.”
What was that again? Calm down? Curse, what curse?
September 3, 2008 at 7:03 pm
“They have a huge millstone hanging around their necks which says 63 years without a pennant, 100 years without a World Series, and 3 major collapses in a span of 39 years”.
ernie, really great post.
like it or not, that history is the wildcard…everybody is aware of it.
It will take a very special team to break the run of Cubs futility. It remains to be seen whether or not this Cubs team can do it. Maybe some of the younger players will step up and contribute in a big way.
The 2004 Boston Red Sox were a very special team, indeed
********************************************************
…following excerpt from http://www.baseball-almanac.com/ws/yr2004ws.shtml
The 2004 Major League post-season witnessed perhaps the greatest comeback in the history of professional baseball. Down three-games-to-none in the American League Championship Series, baseball’s perennial “bridesmaids”, otherwise known as the Boston Red Sox, stood three outs from elimination courtesy of their hated rivals, the New York Yankees. With the game’s greatest post-season closer on the mound, Mariano Rivera, Boston miraculously rose to the occasion to win the final four games and become the first team ever to comeback from a three-games-to-none deficit to take the league title. …
******************************************************
If the Cubs hadn’t collapsed at the end of 2004, we might have been treated to a Cubs-Red Sox series. I was pulling for that in 2003.
There’s still 2008…hope springs eternal!
September 3, 2008 at 7:06 pm
I just saw the update on Zambrano…I think he should get his fat head examined as well as his arm.
September 3, 2008 at 7:21 pm
cubs.com (excerpt)
***************************************************************
When pressed as to why Zambrano didn’t have the MRI Wednesday, Piniella said, “I don’t think Carlos was available today to take it.”
Zambrano had not complained of any discomfort in his arm, but had some fatigue, and the velocity on his fastball had dropped.
“I don’t have any answers for you,” Piniella said. “I wish I did. I’d like to have clarification myself. I don’t want to lie to you; I want to be as truthful as I can.”
***********************************************************
What would Dusty do?
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
barf.
September 3, 2008 at 7:58 pm
What would Dusty do?
Lie his goddamn ass off, genre, that’s what. That and destroying young pitchers careers was what he did best.
September 3, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Anybody wanna lay odds on the Cubs coming back to win this game?
Anybody? Anybody?
Hello FIVE LOSSES IN A ROW!!
September 3, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Damn, how do other teams find ways to hit homeruns with the wind blowing in? And it ain’t just blowing in, it’s blowing in HARD!
Dempster not pitching well tonight either, clogging the bases with walks and giving up base hits. This offense needs to get going NOW!!
It sure is looking like an end of season collapse.
September 3, 2008 at 9:02 pm
EA – Well, considering if they do get back into the game, Marmol and Wood are both unavailable, I’d say there’s a better chance Rod Beck will get the save.
September 3, 2008 at 9:09 pm
He’ll come in his RV from heaven … or the other place.
September 3, 2008 at 9:19 pm
Postgame interview:
Reporter: What went wrong out there tonight, Lou?
Lou: How should I know, I just fill out the lineup card. The pitchers are supposed to get people out and the hitters are supposed to score runs.
Reporter: You’re offense is really sputtering. Care to comment?
Lou: Look, it is what it is! Whatta ya want me to do? Huh? What can I do?
Reporter: Well, you’re the manager. Why not make some lineup changes? How bout moving Lee down in the order?
Lou: I’m the manger, that’s right! Don’t tell me how to manage! I put Lee where I want to, and I will keep him there whether you like it or not!!!
Reporter: But, Lou, don’t you think you owe it to the fans to at least try to make adjustments to win games?
Lou: Kiss my ass! And you can print that. If the fans weren’t so spoiled things would be a lot easier around here. Neither you, nor the fans are going to tell me how to manage this team. Lee stays where he is, and I will continue to put up the same lineup day after day.
Reporter: Thanks Lou, I guess the fans will just have to get used to being fans of the “Lovable Losers.”
September 3, 2008 at 9:45 pm
CUBS LOSE…CUBS LOSE…CUBS LOSE…CUBS LOSE…Even the sheeple were booing. Here are the lyrics for the Cubs team…
Hello Hello
Is there anybody in there?
Don’t know if you can hear me…
BUNCH OF FUCKERS!!! AND NOW LET’S LISTEN TO LOU’S POLITICALLY CORRECT BULLSHIT!!! DON’T WANT TO HURT SOMEONE’S FEELINGS, AFTER ALL!!!!! FUCK THIS TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 3, 2008 at 9:50 pm
This is how the SHEEP over at BCB handle 5 losses in a row, and a shutout by Randy Wolfe:
“We’ll get em’ Friday.
No sweat. We will be alright.

“NOW LET’S LISTEN TO LOU’S POLITICALLY CORRECT BULLSHIT!!!”
Here you go Chris,
“Wanna want me to do? Wanna want me to do? What can I do? Huh? Huh? Huh?”
– the famous words of the famous Lou.

Fuck this team. Fuck them. We all knew this was coming. I guess it was nice while it lasted.

I think it is time to move Lee down in the order. A small change, like having Ramirez bat 3rd and Lee 4th, might help. I also don’t think Lou should have pitched Howry in the 6th yesterday. With the callups on board, he shouldn’t have to use the mop-up pitcher with that many innings left to play. Other than that, I don’t think Lou can pull rabbits out of hats to make them start playing like winners. He gets demoralized when the team is losing and that’s why some of what he says has an edge or he tries to control himself by saying the opponent played a hell of a game, he has all the confidence in the world in starting Sean Marshall, blah, blah, blah.
I hope this Zambrano thing doesn’t turn-out to be a soap opera. (They don’t need distractions.) I thought players attended all games, even pitchers, unless a starter is sent ahead for an out of town game or is on the DL. The team has to have either Zambrano or Harden in top form, but there isn’t much reason to hang the season on Zambrano’s pitching alone. As somebody pointed-out, they played real well in Aug without Zambrano contributing much. He’s a meltdown pitcher, so I’d rather have him completely out of the picture than starting games without being in shape to pitch. As somebody else once said, Zambrano should see Dr. Phil.
They’re playing like crap and I don’t think it has anything to do with the 100th anniversary. The players are Cubs not Cub fans. Any pressure is more likely from losing itself, from the manager or coaches, egos/distractions, and/or dealing with injuries.
What happened to Gaudin? Lou just says he hasn’t been available.

He has back problems JF. Possibly from turning around to watch all the homeruns he was giving up.

i beg to differ. If you are fucking a fine lady and you are just getting ready to cum and she suddenly has a heart attack and dies and you can’t get your dick out, IT WAS NOT FUN WHILE IT LASTED. this little encounter has only one fun and acceptable ending-a fucking awesome orgasm in that fine lady!
FUCK THIS TEAM!!!! fuck them not getting more bullpen help. fuck piniella for every time he trots out Howry and keeps Hoffpauir on the bench for DP Lee. Fuck the motivational and concentration problems of Soriano. Fuck the bad defense of Theriot, Soriano, and Ramirez. fuck Zambrano getting hurt and lying about it and skipping an MRI. fuck Harden for throwing 100 pitches every time and getting only halfway through the game. fuck all the high pitch counts that rothchild has been unable to stop. fuck everything DP Lee has done on offense since Memorial Day. Fuck the Cubs blaming the Cubs losing streak on the “spoiled” fans. I suppose you can’t blame Kasper and Brenly this time as they generally brownose this team. fuck Fukudome getting “tired”. Fuck the Cubs getting shutout by a guy who hasn’t even had a complete game in 4 years! Fuck overusing Marmol and Wood. Fuck all the stranded baserunners. fuck the missed opportunities. FUCK IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well put, Nemo. I’ve been wondering why Hoffpauir is languishing on the bench and Casey McGehee has gotten two pinch-hit appearances (in which he has struck out and grounded into a dp).
It seems like a very Dusty-esque move for Piniella.

So Zambrano is refusing to take an MRI? Maybe they can tear up his new extended contract if this continues. I hope he is not seriously hurt but I don’t think his presence is a deal breaker either. He is NOT an ace…and I seriously doubt he’ll ever become one, unless he gets psychiatric help.
I’d rather have Harden on the mound, I hope he can come back soon.
Nemo has covered the situation well in his previous post…maybe if somebody can hypnotize DP LEE into thinking he plays for the Marlins, his bat will come alive.
It does seems loke BAU lately (business as usual), not to be confused with BAAAAAAAHHHH.
It will take a meltdown/choke of epic proportions for this Cubs team to miss the playoffs…but if anybody can do it, it’s the Cubs!
All kidding aside, Howry should be off the roster immediately. He just doesn’t have it and there is no way in hell I would pitch him in a postseason game, unless the Cubs were up by 10 runs.
Who is “the leader” (among players) of this Cubs team? Time to step up.
Once again the fucking Astros make a late season run and bitch slap the Cubs.
barf.

Two mistakes in my previous post:
1. “like”, not “loke” (sorry Mr. Cummstein, sp?)
2. …there is no way in hell I would pitch him (Howry) in a postseason game….PERIOD.
He doesn’t deserve the opportunity based on his performance this year.
