We all know here that our starting rotation is pretty much set for the playoffs. However, the bullpen is a mess. I like what I am seeing from Randy Wells but MLB rules are that players must be on the 40-man roster by September 1st and his contract was purchased on the 9th so he cannot be on the playoff roster. So without further due, this is who SHOULD be on the roster:
Rotation: Zambrano, Dempster, Harden and Lilly
Bullpen: Marquis, Marshall, Gaudin, Samardjia, Marmol and Wood
Lineup: Soriano, Edmonds, DeRosa, Ramirez, Theriot, Fontenot, Lee and Soto
Bench: Johnson, Blanco, Ward, Cedeno, Hoffpauir, Fukudome and Pie
– I would put another pitcher on this staff but you figure there is no need for a fifth starter so that means there can be an extra bench player which is Pie. I think Pie is needed for defense in late innings. Unfortunately, there are not many options in the bullpen so I decided that an extra position player is a must.

I want Pie on the roster for his speed on the bases and his defense. I think you could see Cotts in the bullpen as a situational left-hander. I think Hoffpauir and Ward are essentially the same player. I would take Hoffpauir personally. Aside from that homer in Florida, Ward hasn’t done all that much, but he has “experience,” whatever that means. He still can’t hit for shite.

a good idea is take howry and cotts and throw them in the middle of nowhere. need them as far as possible from the team.

I don’t think Pie was on the roster in time. Not sure how that works. Howry will probably make the team. If they haven’t made up their minds yet, then how Marquis, Howry, Gaudin and Cotts pitch this week could influence who goes to postseason. I agree, Cotts would give them another lefthanded pitcher out of the pen, but I wouldn’t leave out any of the other pitchers for the sake of including him.
