Good thing the Cubs aren’t playing until Wednesday. Two stress-free days to recharge the batteries but that is not going to stop me from worrying about the Dodgers. Here are some players that play for the Dodgers that kill the Cubs everytime they step up to the plate against them:
Andre Ethier, Jeff Kent, Juan Pierre, Matt Kemp and Derek Lowe.
In addition to that, their bullpen is much better than ours.
This is going to be really hard but as baseball is in the postseason, anything is possible.

I’ll feel a hell of a lot better if Dempster can pitch a good game. I’m glad Lou put him in game 1 instead of Zambrano.

Pee-Air won’t do anything against us. I am worried about Manny Ramirez though. He’s done some amazing shit since leaving the Red Sox.

Derek Lowe’s ERA in September is under 1.00 in 5 starts. 0.39 or something. His WHIP is only 0.76 for the month. Don’t forget about Manny Ramirez-hitting .396 since being acquired from Boston. nearly 60 rbi’s in about two months.

IMOP, DP Lee, Soriano and A-Ram need to show up big or this will be another disappointment…the Cubs bullpen is too flawed to count on.

Cubs have picked up the 2010 option on Piniella. Can you guys think of an example of a contract being renewed during a playoff run and that team going on to win it all THAT season? I can’t. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/1193722,lou093008.article

FUCK the Tribune and Zell. I’ll believe they intend to sell when it happens.
YES…Lou is an upgrade from Baker…but he hasn’t won anything with the Cubs YET. What is the hurry?

“He hasn’t won anything with the Cubs YET”.
2 division titles in two years = anything.

11 wins or a failed season

Fork,
1st, to be clear: I believe that we all want the Cubs to win it all.
That said, I invite you to stick your 2 division titles up your tight ass. I’ve witnessed a few more than that in my lifetime and believe me, they’re not as good as a REAL CHAMPIONSHIP.
Were you satisfied with last years pathetic showing against the Diamondbacks? If so, then maybe you should post at BCB.
In the long run, nothing less than a WS title is acceptable after 100 years of NOT WINNING ONE.
As for Lou, I happen to like him and think he has done a GOOD job thus far, especially after following Baker’s carnage…but what is the rush to extend his contract at this time? Not necessary, he is still under contract for next year.
Most of us here will not be satisfied until the Cubs win a WS. That doesn’t mean that we haven’t been enjoying the season or the smaller successes. If you don’t get it now, maybe you will when you grow up…in the meantime you’re cordially invited to take a ride on the short bus that was mentioned awhile back, give my regards to the essians.

Cubs and White Sox haven’t been in the post-season TOGETHER since 1906!
That would be a great WS…but so would Cubs-Red Sox.

No White Sox, No World Series, NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ll take Tampa, Boston, or the Angels.
October 1, 2008 at 5:51 pm
Personally, I hoping it’ll be the Cubs vs. Boston. I don’t want Tampa. Sorry, no way in hell.
