Cubs at Cards 4/24-26

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, Ramirez and Marmol go down to injury in Friday’s loss in St. Louis. They don’t have any depth on the bench or in the minors to deal with multiple sustained injuries. On top of that, Lou decideds to shuffle the lineup to try to generate more offense. I hope this doesn’t backfire into having the few guys that have been hitting stop.

It’s gonna be a long season….

“We’ve got no bench,” Piniella said. “We’ve got to get somebody in here.”

There you are folks, Piniella at his whiney best, “Whata ya want me to do?” Waa Waa Waa.

The guy is starting to sound more and more like Dusty “Give me my horses” Baker.

This may be a team that finishes in last place this year. Marshall pitched well, but that offense, you gotta be kiddin me!!!!!!

  3. erniesarmy Says:

    7 – 1, that’s the ballgame.

    What a bullpen!

Is this team funny or what?

    Lovable Losers are back!!!!!!!!!

  4. ksmc2000 Says:

It wouldn’t surprise me if the Cubs are still playing like shit in June, Piniella packs his bags and quits on the Cubs the same way he did with the Devil Rays when he didn’t get his way.

  5. robert Says:

So lets see ON December 31 2008 Jim Hendry trades Mark Derosa in a cost cutting move….so far this year dero has 3 hr 15 rbi he signed a 3 yr 14 million dollar deal so he would have been on the books for about 4.5 million…he then trades Jason Marquis who is 2-1 so far this year (and he has 4 rbi) to save another 3 million cause he traded his 7 million salary to for Luiz Vizcaino 4 million dollar salary he took that savings and signed Milton Bradley….If you take Bradleys Dlee and Sorianos rbi total they total 19…Dero and Marquis have 18…..JIM HENDRY YOU ARE A FUCKING MORON

  6. robert Says:

ernie on a prior post you stated that dallas green was the only gm who we had who was worth anything if you would like I can repost something on this site that i posted on the original fdb site about how his firing set this franchise back gave about a ton of examples and how we would probably have 2 maybe 3 ws buy now if he wasnt fired

  7. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

Didn’t get to see the game…regional telecast gave me the other game but saw the highlights throughout the day. HOW PATHETIC. Marshall did fine. Offense sucked. Go figure. 2005 season all over again.

  8. ksmc2000 Says:

When times get tough, Piniella chooses to lay the blame on anyone but who is responsible for this shit…..himself. He had seven fucking weeks in spring training to assemble the best 25 man roster, and he failed. Ever since Piniella got here, he’s been calling all shots as far as personnel. They were a 97 win team last year, and only needed a couple of adjustments. Instead, Piniella wants to be more lefthanded and Hendry decides to turn over 30% of the fucking team with some bad moves. That’s a nice way to build on the success that they had a year ago.

When, if ever the new ownership takes over, Hendry, Piniella and his entire staff have got to go.

Robert, please re-post your “Dallas Green” post, I remember that one from the old site and would like to revisit it….in fact, I mentioned it a few days ago here…

I hate to say it but nothing that is happening right now surprises me. Hendry, O’Neal and Rothschild should have been fired at the end of 2006.

As for Piniella, I posted that he looked like a beaten, tired old man during the playoffs last year…maybe that has carried over.

Time to flush the stink of 102 years: blow this fucking toilet up and start over.

Sell the Cubs. Start over. It’s not funny anymore.

  13. Dave Says:

    Dear Neal Cotts,

You are not a good pitcher. I have no idea why Lou keeps you in the bullpen. You are a threat to any game in which the Cubs are playing, and a true liability to the success of this team. Since nobody will fire or trade you please quit baseball and try something else. You just plain suck. Have a nice day.

  14. robert Says:

November of 2007 marked the 20th anniversarry of the firing of Dallas Green an event that happened that set off a chain of events from which this franchise has not even began to recover from…

After Dallas is fired the first thing the Cubs do is hire Jim Frey…The first thing Frey does is Trade Lee Smith…

In 1988 the Cubs do not comete cause the do not have a closer… Jim Frey trades Rafael Palmeiro (i know he was dirty but he hit over 500 HRS) Jamie Moyer who is still PItching well today for Mitch Williams. Paul Kilgus Steve Wilson Curtis Wilkerson ETC ETC)

When Dallas Left the farm system was starting to produce Mark Grace Dave Marinez Damon Berryhill Les Lancaster Greg Maddux Jerome Walton Dwight Smith Joe Girardi.

In Jim Freys first draft the Cubs have an all star second baseman and need a third baseman desperately who do the cubs draft Georgia Tech Second baseman Ty Griffin the sox have the next pick who do they draft Robin Ventura

After the 89 season Don Zimmer feels he does not like Jerome Waltons batting stance and fucked the kid up big time..

After the 91 season Frey is fired and is replaced buy Larry (i got my Sammy Sosa’s cock up my ass) Himes..

The first thing Larry Himes does is let Rick Sutcliffe walk…even though Sutcliffe asked for an incentive laden deal..( he won 31 games over the next two years..

After the 92 season Greg Maddux said yes to not 1 not 2 not 3 not 4 not 5 but 6 contract extensions every time he was going to sign them himes pulled them off the table at the last minute maddux said fuck it i am out of here and went to Atlanta. ( Himes also calls a press conference to announce he has nothing to report)

Greg Madduxs crime he was right handed…that was the year himes went almost all left handed greg hibbard and so many others..(sound famillar)

If you sign mad dog have maddux morgan Palmeiro moyer and sutcliffe that team wins the division and whips dustys giants ( the braves arent there if they dont have maddux and the cubs dont trade for mitch williams who never would have ended up in philladelphia if he is not traded to the cubs…

this is just some of the post i could go on and on

  15. genrebuster Says:

Robert, thanks for posting that history lesson…I guess I blocked some of it from my memory…indeed, the truth hurts. Whatever happened to Larry Himes and his cocked ass?

Dave: With the exception of “you just plain suck” (agreed), that was a very considerate memo to Neil Cotts, ie. “please quit baseball, have a nice day”, etc. You are a gentleman and a scholar!

  16. Dave Says:

    Dear Kosuke Fukudome,

You are doing great. Please do not stop what you are doing. Right now you are doing what a good baseball player should be doing. Your swing is weird sometimes, but for the most part you get the job done. Keep up the good work.

    P.S Happy Birthday
    P.P.S Sorry I can’t write in Japnanese.

more proof hendry is a failed gm the cubs released there 03 04 and 05 1 picks because they failed and I suspect 06 tyler colvin wont be far behind

  19. Navycubsfan Says:

Hiliarious! Your letter to Kosuke was well done. Let’s hope he listens…

I read the posts on this site all the time but I never leave a reply…mainly because I would end up going on a Dennis Miller-like rant that I don’t really have the time for. The Cubs piss me off so much sometimes (I’ve been a fan since ’84), but reading the witty and insightful comments here on “Refugees” (and “FDB” before) keep things in perspective for me. It’s hard to follow the Cubs over here in Germany where I’m stationed for a few years, but maybe that’s a good thing. I was in the States during the ’03 season, and nearly threw my TV out the window after blowing the NLCS.

To all regular contributors on this site: let me speak for all the visitors who don’t regularly post and say your comments are an enjoyable diversion from a hard work day that allow us to catch up on the Cubs and all the buffoonery associated with this organization. Keep it up!

  20. genrebuster Says:

As a regular contributor here and at the old site, I Thank You for the positive feedback….a Dennis Miller-like rant is always welcome but no pressure to post one as there is no shortage of them here!

Yes, the 2003 NLCS chokefest was absolutely unbelievable…horrible…horrible. PATHETIC. I went from being excited about the Dusty hiring in 2003 to wanting him fired by early 2005.

I hope you’re having some fun in Germany, stay safe. I’ve passed through there twice, spent most of my time in Berlin…really hope to return soon.

“Buffoonery” is a good word to throw around here…not too harsh. You, too are a gentleman and a scholar!

    All the best, SS

I haven’t been on here for a while for good reason. Last year was excutiating to take. They found a new way to let everybody down. Since then I have let go of a lot of angst with these bastards. I still watch most of the games when I get a chance but this shit isn’t even really bothering me anymore. Is anybody really that suprised that with all the hype around this team going into the season that they are choking on goat balls right now? Or that the Cards are kicking the living shit out of everybody in the league with they’re less than steller roster. Hmm what yr does this remind everybody of. ‘O4 maybe???? I’ll tell everybody too that I did not have a good feeling about this team going into this season to begin with. Someone please tell me why the hell they couldn’t have just stuck DeRo out in Right Field??? He was less expensive then Bradley was in the first place. Oh yeah Dusty oops I mean Lou had to have his guy signed here the lefty he had to have. Yeah nice pick up. Also, why didn’t they just keep Marquis on the team?? It was his last year hear anyway you might as well let him play out his contract. He wasn’t that bad anyway. I mean I wasn’t crazy about him but he was a good #5 in the rotation. And the biggest one that has been bothering me since the offseason. Why do you give Dempster that big ass contract when you could have just traded and got Peavy to replace him in the rotation and let Dempster walk in Free agency?? and Aaron Miles I don’t even want to go there. He sux fucking ass!! Hang in there refugees don’t let these bastards get to ya.

  22. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

Welcome back Sandberg 23! If you read any of the threads in February and March, you will see that most of us here were thinking the same thing. This team was not nearly as good as last year.

    Fire Jim Hendry!

  23. Sandberg23 Says:

I should have known Stairs that you guys would have felt the same way as well. We all are stuck rooting for this dumb ass worthless franchise and we deserve better than this. Why is it that most of us on this site could have done a better job in the off season being GM’s then what the Cubs actual GM and dumb ass coach was telling him we needed in the off season? Imcompetence, Incompetence, Incompetence. It just gets old seeing the same shit year after year. I almost laugh now when some anti Cub fan tells me that the Cubs suck. My response now is yeah I know they do tell me something I don’t know. That crap used to piss me off but now I just realize that it’s true until they can actually do something about it and win something it will always be true.

  24. robert Says:

milton bradley 1 fucking hit Jake Fox the Iowa cubs right fielder 12 hrs 38 rbi .438 batting average….4 sb killed the fuck out the ball in spring training didnt make the roster…FUCK YOU LOU FUCK YOU HENDRY

  25. genrebuster Says:

Sandberg. Thanks for the EXCELLENT post…I feel the same as you, I’m not really bothered by this inept organization anymore either…I expect the Cubs to stink up the joint.

Hate to say it…but I think Lou has lost whatever edge he may have had.

As for Hendry, that FUCKING MORON should have been fired early 2005.

Sell the Cubs. Fire Jim Hendry.

  26. genrebuster Says:

robert, after reading your last post — which only covers SOME of the reasons, not ALL — it’s even harder to fathom how Hendry keeps his job.

    Maybe 1 + 1 = 3?

    I don’t get it…
