Well, I can’t say I’m surprised. It appears that Fields will be traded within the next couple weeks. The Bears will take Caleb Williams and go back to square one for this franchise.
It’s just another sign of failure by Ryan Pace when he traded up for him. I shouldn’t go off about 2017. But again, DeShaun Watson was the obvious pick in the draft (not many were touting Mahomes just yet). And before anyone comes at me with “Watson was accused of this, this and this”, I’m very much aware of that. He’s a scumbag. At the time, however, nobody saw that coming. It’s out of everyone’s control. Watson should have been taken instead of Trubisky.
Whatever the Bears do will be the wrong decision. Fields stays and he continues to throw interceptions and hang onto the ball too long while doing the occasional “Houdini” act of escaping a 20-yard loss for a gain of 30. Or, Fields get traded and shines while Caleb Williams pisses all over himself. Then two years later, the Bears are searching for their next quarterback because Ryan Poles doesn’t know how to pick them.
I base these words off of the last 30 years of watching this team. A lot of these quarterbacks may have been successful if it wasn’t for management putting them in a position to fail. Certainly, blame is to be shared. That goes for many other players.
The right general manager and coaches need to be there. The play-calling needs to make sense. By that, I mean not having Luke Getsy try some fuckery on 3rd and 1 that results in a turnover after the team is on the verge of scoring on a long drive. 3rd and 1 should be common sense to run it up the middle and give the team a new set of downs. And we’ve seen that garbage from all the other “offensive” coordinators.
But hey, what the fuck do I know? It’s not like I watch the games or anything.

Fro, I’m not exactly sure I agree with your assessment that Ryan Poles can’t pick them. This is strictly my opinion, but he may well be able to. But the coaches, THAT is a different story entirely. Obviously, nobody in this franchise in the past 30 years has been able to pick a decent coach. And then these idiot head coaches go on to pick idiot coordinators. Yes, it’s chain, starting with ownership and going to team presidents, general managers, head coaches, and so on. These coaches are destroying the careers of a lot of players who, with the right coaches, could have great careers, even win a few Super Bowls. God only knows what Mitch Turd Biscuit could have accomplished with the right coaching. By the time he got to Pittsburgh he was thoroughly destroyed. Same goes for Justin Fields, although I hope he still can play with better coaching. Also, think of this. Jim McMahon played for the team that won Super Bowl XX. It’s been generally agreed that he wasn’t the greatest QB who ever lived. Good, yes, but not great. He did have great instincts, but he also had one thing that guys like Fields and Turd Biscuit: Head Coach Mike Ditka, and Offensive Coordinator Ed Hughes. I don’t know who their QB coach was, or if they even had one. My point is that McMahon, and the rest of that team had quality coaching. I don’t know if firing Ditka after the 92 season was the right move or not, but as far as I’m concerned, they’ve been on a downward spiral ever since. And yes, even though they made the Super Bowl again in 07, did anybody think the Bears had a chance? The Bears got that far DESPITE Lovie Smith, not because of him. He was completely outsmarted, outcoached, and frankly, outclassed by Tony Dungy. But the point here that I’m trying to make is the Bears have a serious problem because they are hiring morons to coach this team.
Fro, I have a very interesting story to tell you, and believe it or not, it directly involves you. It’s a good story, one I’m sure will bring back some good memories of a bygone era. Let me know when a good time would be to relate this story. I think you’ll be really surprised.

OK, Fro! Don’t say I didn’t warn ya! I’ll try to keep the first part short, because it’s basically just a prelude to where I’m going with the overall theme here.
Last week my dad asked me to take his car, a 2002 Lincoln Town Car in for an emissions test. This is a car that isn’t driven regularly anymore, especially in the winter. The battery had completely died, so I charged it up and took it down for testing. It failed, because they said the memory in the computer got wiped, and it needed to be driven to get the car to pass. Now comes the fun part.
I decide to take the car to Rockford to get a new battery for my RC monster truck, and since Chicago radio is a vast wasteland, AM and FM, I decided to bring a couple of old tapes I made about 20 years ago. They were tapes of some old Boers and Bernstein shows, and all I can say is WOW. Hearing Terry Boers’ voice again was just magical to me. I really hadn’t realized just how much I have missed him. His sense of humor, witticisms, the way he interacted with Dan Bernstein. And they had some great segments too: The Tournament of Bad, Friday Fung, Who Do You Love, and of course, Who Ya Crappin’. Some seriously funny callers back then, Trash Can Man Napolean Dynomite, Gary in Evanston, I’ll butcher this, but Govermo Fromage. Oh, and some guy named NORTHSIDE FRO DOG! He did a nice crap, and a very nice impression of whiney bitch Dick Vitale. (well done, my Fitness Frendt!) I’ll tell you something else too: Bernstein really lost a couple of steps when Boers retired. He’s a shell of what he used to be, and it’s REALLY sad and pathetic, actually. He really needed Boers to play off of and give him the edge he had. Lawrence Holmes can’t get that out of him. And I started thinking about how far the Score has fallen over the last 15-20 years. Mike Mulligan wasn’t really around, if he was, he must of have been a part timer. And now that he has five hours teamed up with Ultra Moron/DoucheWagon David Haugh, fuck it, they’re both unlistenable. Holmes/Bernstein sucks, for the reasons I started above. Leila Rahimi is OK, but she isn’t good enough to bail out those two. Parkins and Speigel aren’t even worth talking about. The rest of them, fuck them, they aren’t even worth listing here. The ONLY one left there who is worth a goddamn works part time and holidays. I honestly don’t know why Steve Rosenbloom hasn’t told Mitch Rosen to go fuck his mother.
Listening to those tapes literally made me laugh so hard that I had tears in my eyes. I’d bet I made a few people look at me sideways. It also made me tremendously sad, because one of my favorite radio stations is right now basically a pile of shit. Even ESPN 1000 was better back then than what the Score is today. I actually liked Mac, Jurko, and Harry. Every Monday at 5 PM I’d listen to them and Monday Night John. I don’t know what you thought about Frank Caliendo, but I was a huge mark for him, so when that show came on, I listened. I guess ESPN 1000 made them downloadable from their site, because I have several CD’s with MNJ. I’ve got a lot of other stuff too, like post-game shows with Buffone and OB. It’s just a sad state of affairs that today the only sports radio I look forward to these days is Hampton and OB, and we only get them 17 days/nights a year. And I have no way to download them. Radio today sucks, but for some reason, I was fortunate enough to have the foresight to record some stuff from a better time. Hell, even the callers were better.
Thanks Fro, for allowing me to share that story. I know it’s long, so please accept my apologies.

Thought you would go back to “Chuckie” now that Tom Skilling has been permanently removed from Chicago airwaves.

I would change it, if I knew how. Word press changed something in their system, and they did this to me. I started a website about ten years or so ago titled “Fire Tom Skilling”, but I pretty much gave up on it right after. I don’t really know why, maybe I just got bored with it. All I can say is that something changed, and now it’s been stuck that way. If you know how I can change my username, I’d appreciate any suggestions.

Well, I’ll be goddamned. I just figured out how to change my name. Problem solved!

CHUCKSTER!
That’s insane. And damn, I know I called into that segment about 10-15 times during those years. I can’t remember everything I talked about. But wow.
And yes, I know what you mean. The Score was can’t miss radio during the 2000’s. I remember listening to when it moved to 670 AM in 2000. I was getting ready to be in high school and listened throughout those years (the Blackhawks were on there during that time as well).
Then when I was in college in the mid-2000’s, I became a religious listener. The long nights working in the restaurant, I had The Score on. I miss it.
Bernstein is just awful. And not to get into politics or whatever, but do you remember some of the conversations him and Boers had back then? It was not “PC” one bit. I didn’t find it offensive and many would laugh at it.
I think once he got in trouble for the comments he made about Aiyana Cristal and Cheryl Scott in 2015, he completely changed. I don’t know. He’s just become someone who tries to say things so he doesn’t get canceled.

Fro, I hear you about Bernstein. Back then he had absolutely no problem mixing it up with a listener if he said something galactically stupid. Personally, I think he got his spine and frankly, his balls, from his association with Terry Boers. Boers used to say, and in the interest of full disclosure, I blatantly stole this from him, that he had absolutely no problem at all beating even the most sacred cows upside the head. A lot of my writings, and, in all honesty, my personality, is from my being influenced by Boers, and to a lesser degree, even Bernstein. I don’t know what happened to Dan, whether it was Terry retiring, or the Cheryl Scott incident, but Bernstein isn’t even a shell of his former self. All I can say is thank god for YouTube. There’s a whole lot of their stuff on there that is so entertaining.
By the way, I still have a monster crush on Cheryl Scott. I would do damn near anything just to sit down with her and have a cup of coffee.

Chucky, Looks like you are smarter than you thought you were! Ms. Scott is single and worth about 1.2 million USD. She has been rumored to have fertility problems so maybe this is your chance to show her how a little of the Chucky could change her luck. 🙂

Mark, do you know what happened to her engagement? She used to have a rock on her finger the size of a small boulder. I noticed a while ago that she stopped wearing it. I’d hate to get her on the rebound. Rebound relationships almost never work out.
March 4, 2024 at 10:44 pm
She was engaged to some douche who worked at some sports website. I think he was also a DJ in Chicago. Can’t remember much.
I am not going to say “I know someone who knows her.” But my sources do tell me she already has someone new in her life. It’s fairly recent (last six months or so).
March 5, 2024 at 9:52 am
That’s alright Fro. She’ll see the light. And he’ll learn what everyone else before him has learned.
DON’T FUCK WITH THE CHUCK!

Bears signed DeAndre Swift to a 3 year deal. I think its a good move by Poles considering Saquon Barkley was more expensive. But I’ll let the more critical denizens of this page make the call.
