I will admit that when the Titans scored to go up 17-0, I shut off the TV. I thought for sure it was over. As mentioned in the previous thread, I have been fighting a shitty cold the last week and have had a lot to do. I checked the score on my phone as the day went on and refused to watch as seeing the Bears score several times to eventually win.
From what I did see in the first half, it was vintage Chicago Bears. If I’m not mistaken, I saw a 2nd and 1 play that became a 3rd and 4 because John Schoop Shane Waldron called a pass play for negative yards. You couldn’t call another run play? And from what the critics were saying after the game, “the running game couldn’t get going.” Well, it’s hard to get it going when you’re only running once every five plays. This is stupidity. Adam Gase Shane Waldron is already looking like a fool.
One thing I’d also like to mention is that I heard a bit of the postgame show on ESPN 1000. I believe Jurko was mentioning Williams’ height being a disadvantage while being scouted. He had multiple passes that were deflected. I don’t always believe that a taller quarterback results in better success. I even think Rex Grossman was shorter than 6’1. But again, this needs to be on the coaching to put him in a position to succeed. We have yet to see that.
The defense had a couple of stops on the first two drives. Then points on three of four drives? It was 17-0 pretty quickly.
As far as the rest that I saw on highlights, the defense and special teams had to do all the work. A blocked punt for a touchdown and a pick-six from Tyrique Stevenson. Then Jaylon Johnson intercepts Will Levis to seal the deal. We’ve seen this story so many times. It’s great for one game. Realistically, this is impossible to sustain. Plus, the defense was shitty at the start. So for what seems to be the 15,176th time on this website, let say the following:
2nd and 1 should be a run up the middle every single time. Not this wide-receiver screen bullshit. Talk about putting your team in a position to fail. RUN. THE. BALL. It’s not that fucking difficult. Defense, cover the receivers. Stay disciplined.
The Texans are up next on Sunday Night Football.

How did Justin Fields do for the Steelers?
17/23 for 156 yards and 57 yards rushing on 14 carries.
Yes, I know. Only one game. And they won the game with six field goals. We will find out over the next few games who won that trade (or will both lose it?).

I have a feeling that the Houston game will not be pretty for the Bears…

Caleb Williams 93 yards and 0 touchdowns officially starts the beginning of the new cycle of inept QB where we inevitably try the same exact thing in a few years getting a new “True Franchise” qb and new coaching and front office because “it’s gotta work this time”.
We will continue to do this over and over again instead of actually fix the problem by actually investing in the offensive line. The bears never have an elite offensive linemen, ever. Trent Williams, Jason Kelce, Zack Martin. Nope. Not the bears. Best they can do is get elite guys when they’re 40 years old like Jason Peters (who was still our best o lineman that season) or Orlando Pace when he can’t fucking move anymore.
Ryan Poles was a linemen so he should know the game is won at the line of scrimmage. If you can’t pass your QB or WRs suck. If you can’t run maybe your running backs suck. But if you’re like the bears and can’t run or pass, then that means the Offensive line fucking sucks just like it has for the past 20 years. Any QB that comes here is destined to fail until we get some good talent and not just overpaying other teams backups to start

Rome Odunze has gotten injured. Sprained MCL, which is coincidentally the same thing that Jordan Love injured. He is listed week-to-week. Can we hope he’s not a Kevin White 2.0 already?

Enjoy a little history while the win is still fresh. Raawwwrrr! Bear down.

John, when I heard that Odunze got hurt, my very first thought was “Here’s Kevin White 2.0”! I hope that’s not the case. And wasn’t that what happened to Jay Cutler when the Bears played Green Bay in the playoffs years ago? I remember fans calling in to the Score and bitching and complaining that he got knocked out. They thought he should have taped it up and gutted it out, despite the fact that his leg below the knee was pretty much just dangling in the breeze.

I already know how this will end up with Odunze. It’s *just* an MCL sprain. Before we know it, he will be out for the season. The Bears have a long history of lying about injuries. It’s very unfortunate because from all accounts, he seemed to be the real deal.
Then again, so did Williams. I know a lot of quarterbacks were trash to start the season. But the one that we all care about is the one on the Bears. If he ends up shitting himself this coming Sunday, I think this franchise will need to find yet another quarterback to draft. This is annoying.
