With Jason Bay traded away from the Pirates, let’s hope they will be especially easy to beat this weekend.

Shut down by a Yankee castoff, Lee and Soto 0 for 9. I guess they decided to mail in today’s game.

Tough loss. I got pissed off at Marquis early but he still gave six innings of three run ball which is surprising conisdering his career.

Four double plays and batters swinging at everything they saw just won’t get it done. There were a few cases in which batters struck out on three pitches. The Cubs had their chances.

    “Oh no!
We’re going to be in third place by the end of August…The sky is falling! The sky is falling!”

This is how the sunshine suzys over at BCB react when someone says “The Cubs stunk up the joint today.”

They actually believe this franchise has a history of coming back from adversity and winning it all with regularity. What kind of drugs are they on over there? It’s hilarious.

I know one loss is not the end of the season…but it bothers me that the Cubs can kick the asses of better teams and then play down to teams that aren’t very good….where’s the focus and killer instinct? This concerns me…

Disappointing game today. Not too worried about whether they will sink into another offensive funk, though, because the lineup was pieced together to rest Theriot and DeRosa. The bullpen also did ok.

Site related things: 1) genre’s post above is dated 8/2 while it’s still 8/1. 2) The “Possibly Related Posts” – could that be put into a “Possibly Related Posts” category. Good to have one real category for blogs to keep it simple, but if something isn’t relevant than maybe it can be parked somewhere out of the way – just a thought. 3) Nice site; no connect errors!

    Thanks FroDog

I appreciate your setting this site up for us to vent when we need to. I’ll be around to bitch…especially to those deserve it.

I missed todays game.(because of work) Sounds like a good game to miss. It would just piss me off.

  8. Nemo's avatar Nemo Says:

Can you believe the Cubs are blaming their pisspoor performance today on not having weekend night games?! Never mind they have 30 a year-although it seems like a lot more than that to me. Never mind the Thursday game was a DAY game and it only two the Cubs 2 hours to get back from Milwaukee. Never mind they scored 11 runs in that day game on Thursday-which came after a night game. The 84 Cubs won 96 games-something no team has done since-and they did it with ALL DAY GAMES. You fucking sucked balls today. Just admit it. A letdown. Fix it tomorrow.

Sullivan also reports “Edmonds noted that the Cubs had never seen Karstens and didn’t have much video on him.” This was one of Dustfuck’s favorite excuses-“we never seen the dude pitch before.” Well, if that’s all it takes to shut out a major league ballclub is to not have video on him, how come some team doesn’t sign 162 different pony leaguers and go 162-0?! This is as lame as excuse-making gets. Do we really need all this bullshit because of one bad game? Fuck the excuses and go out and play!

  9. Fro Dog's avatar Fro Dog Says:

    Right on Nemo.

Enough of these excuses. They are NOT PATIENT. Why? Because Lou doesn’t get in their face and tell them that. This is bullshit. I am not panicking. I just want the Cubs to take pitches on a consistent basis. If they are patient at the plate and still get beat, then so be it. But when you swing at early in the count and not take pitches, then you deserve to lose.

By the way, I really appreciate all that you guys are doing and posting on here. I have this tracker thing in my options and it shows that a lot of people are visiting this place. I promise to have new threads at least two to three times a week depending on my schedule. I am going to continue posting on the old site so everybody gets the word. We really need to get the whole crew here. Thanks again guys.

Thank you Fro Dog. You have done a terrific job with this site in such a short amount of time.

What a pleasure to come to a blog of REAL Cub fans who understand the history of this franchise, unlike the others who put their brains in a pickle jar.

I concur with Fro Dog and Nemo, enough with the excuses!!!! Go out there and play ball. If you lose, you lose. We’ve used this day baseball crap as an excuse for poor performance since 1969. ENOUGH!

Great job with starting the new site FroDog.

I think the series sweep in Milwaukee was so emotional for the team, they were prime for a letdown. As long as the Pirates don’t come in here and kick our asses all weekend.

How about the home field advantage at Wrigley North. Cub fans took Miller Park over for that series. I’ve never seen an opposing team come in and cheer louder than the home teams fans. I have tickets for the last game of the regular season at Miller Park. It should be alot of fun. I just hope that the Cubs have enough of a lead in the division that this game will not decide the winner of the NL Central.

  13. chucky's avatar chucky Says:

Ok. Let me get this straight. Today is August 2 and the Cubs won their 66th game of the year. In 2006, the last year of a 4 year nightmare, the Cubs won 66 games….TOTAL!!! Anybody miss that sorry-ass sack of shit?

And can anybody tell what the hell the Reds organization was thinking when they hired Mr. Shit-for-Brains?

    YEEESSSHHHH!!!!!!

  14. Dustfuck's avatar Dustfuck Says:

Hey, my team’s only in last place, 15 back in the division. We’re in it, big time. Dude.

  15. genrebuster's avatar genrebuster Says:

chucky. i’m still ECSTATIC that toothpick chomping idiot is gone.

Too answer your question: YES: Neifi, PeeAir, Mercker, Jagoff Jones….uh oh…….BARF!

  16. chucky's avatar chucky Says:

    I HATE NEAL COTTS!!!!!!!!

  17. chucky's avatar chucky Says:

    But Reed Johnsonkicks MAJOR ass!!!!!

  18. ksmc2000's avatar ksmc2000 Says:

Lou did a great job of out-managing the Pirates skipper in the 8th. Piniella sent Ward in to pinch hit for the sole reason of getting a lefty pitcher in there for the hot hitting Johnson. That move won the game for the Cubs.

  19. Nemo's avatar Nemo Says:

I fucking had to walk away when Gaudin gave up that homer to a doofus who was hitting .188-my blood pressure can only take so much. at least they pulled it out. Don’t like using Samardzija and Marmol in the same game.

Brewers lost, Cardinals lost, Sox lost and fell out of first place-doesn’t get much better in the regular season.

  20. armycubsfan's avatar armycubsfan Says:

Good move, Frodogs. It’s nice to see more new threads often. I wonder if BobbyD will miss us, lol.

Anyhooters, good win today. Good playing by Soriano as of late. I really do believe he puts somewhat of a spark in the offense. Love him or hate him, the numbers show that the offense is better when he is in the game. Reed Johnson continues to impress, and he definitely is one of those good Hendry moves, as opposed to the many bad ones he has made. Jim Edmonds has still got it too. He’s doing to other teams what he did to us as one of the Cardinals. We really should have traded for another solid reliever before the deadline, and I really hope that doesn’t bite us in the ass later.

Otherwise, with all the home games this month, the NL Central could look more like the AL West by the end of August. Let us run away with this one!

    GO CUBS GO!!
Yeah I like the song, so sue me!

  21. Reed's avatar Reed Says:

    I’m the fucking man.

  22. chucky's avatar chucky Says:

    I’ll say you are, Reed!!!!!

  23. ksmc2000's avatar ksmc2000 Says:

Who would have said when Edmonds was aquired, that the CF platoon would work as well as it has? I know we all hated Edmonds when he was playing for the Retards, but he has become the consumate team player since joining the Cubs. He was the first guy in the dugout to congratulate Reed Johnson after that bomb on Sunday.

  24. genrebuster's avatar genrebuster Says:

I had a feeling Edmonds was NOT finished. Like him or not, he’s been a tough cookie much of his career.

SHOW DA FIRE AND PASSION, MY FRENDT!
