A few things to say…

by

– Cubs take two out of three against the Astros. First place by five games.

– Scott Eyre was designated for assignment Tuesday. I think the Cubs should of released “Brown Spot” Bob Howry instead and some people I talked to on other sites said the same thing. Anybody see Eyre cry after finding out the news? It kind of sucks seeing him get emotional but this is a business.

– I think everyone INCLUDING myself should shut it about Alfonso Soriano. He missed two months of the season and still leads the team with 21 homeruns. He also has a .299 batting average. He is clearly carrying at this team at crucial times and who knows how many more games the Cubs could of won had he stayed healthy.

– It does not seem like Jim Hendry is going to get any bullpen help off of the waiver wire. Help is going to have to come within the system and the rosters do expand on September 1st. Maybe the Cubs have a pitcher in the minors that we have no idea exists who can help this bullpen down the stretch.

I probably missed some stuff so I will add it in the comments section if I remember anything. Enjoy the off-day guys. The Bears do open up the preseason Thursday night so I will be watching that. New thread coming Friday morning.

I know alot of us have ripped on Eyre at times, but I felt bad for him also. He kept the other guys in the bullpen loose with his sense of humor. He must have been pretty high up on Piniella’s shit list.

Good to see Soriano swinging a hot bat. With hand injuries, you never know how it will effect their hitting. I don’t think D-Lee fully recovered from the broken wrist. His power numbers have been way down ever since.

Eyre was one of Dusty’s boys, I remember him telling the fans and media to get off Dustfuck’s back in 2006 because he was one of the reasons Eyre signed with the Cubs.

Not sure why this needed to be an either/or Howry and Eyre BOTH sucked balls-so I am halfway happy about this. If the manager won’t use you , there is no point in you taking up a roster spot-and Piniella didn’t want to use Eyre. Eyre couldn’t even get out of the 9th in Milwaukee with an 11-1 lead-he only got one out. Eyre’s last 3 appearances as a Cub – 1 IP and 8 ER. That’s right, three straight appearances he could only get one out and got smacked around each time. Granted, 3 straight awful appearances is usually not enough to get you fired, but, apparently Eyre really pissed off Piniella and I think there is some stuff we are not aware of.

Question-What is the difference between Bob Howry and a whore?

Answer-You pay the whore to suck.

Yeah, we did miss Soriano, as much as we rib him with the SorryONos and Sorryanuses, he does boost the offense. And rather explosively at times too.
Only God knows how many wins we would have had he stayed healthy, but we’d probably be better than the LA Angels by a fairly good margin. We would be well on the way to a mid-September clinch. Ok, I’ll end my sheeple-like wishful thinking. BAAAAAAH….er..ahem–back to reality now.

    GO CUBS GO!!
    I still like the song.

Eyre will be ok, he was well-paid…boohoo!

That’s right, he was one of the fabulous baker Boys, I’d forgotten that…now excuse me while I throw up.

Would somebody–anybody–please explain to me why Howry still has a job? Isn’t it obvious that he can’t be counted on when it matters?

Great to see the Cubs FINALLY get the best of the Astros.

I agree Soriano has been a pleasant surprise since coming off the dl. However, he is still a nortorious streaky hitter who loves to swing at pitches out of the strike zone. I only hope his next round of being a strikeout machine is when the Cubs are in control of the Division, and not during the playoffs, or in games that matter.

I still don’t like him leading off.

Well, I checked the Iowa Cubs roster and there are not any pitchers that are doing well in relief. None of their E.R.A.’S are below 3.50 I believe. So the Cubs are going to have to deal with what they have in the bullpen.

I have not uttered a SorryONo in a long time. I will wait till he is in the last years of that idiotic contact that Hendry signed him to. Now having said that Jim Hendry is still a fat ass moron. How ironic if the Cubs become World Champions on their centennial anniversary.

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t enjoying this year. It took Lou a full year to completely fumigate the team from Dusty Baker. They work the count, sometimes clog the bases with walks. The poor Reds sitting in the cellar, having closed door team meetings without Douche Bag. They are trying to figure out how to win with an idiot for a manager. Oh that leads me to McFail oh what’s that I see the Orioles in last place. So Dusty’s in last place, McFails in last place and now the Cubs are in first. Adddition by subtration. If we get rid of Hendry we could be a dynasty!!!!!

Ok so we got a bullpen guy, you FDB regulars are gonna love this, especially if he fucks up. His name is Brian Schlitter, he was traded from the Phillies for Scott Eyre. Hopefully he does well with the Cubs, otherwise the following will be posted by one of you:

Shitter shit himself and cost the Cubs the game.”

LOL, another name for you all to intentionally butcher, have fun. 😉

  10. Nemo's avatar Nemo Says:

Schlitter’s still a ways away from a big league call up-but at least we got something for eyre (I would have taken another Strawberry Shortcake backpack).

Can we please have a new thread for the Cubs-Cardinals series?
