NEMO,
I WROTE IN MY PREVIOUS POST THAT I WOULD HAVE A NEW THREAD FRIDAY MORNING. UNLIKE BOBBYD, NEW POSTS ARE A FEW TIMES A WEEK!
August 8, 2008 at 6:11 pm
Does anyone know where I am today?
August 8, 2008 at 6:22 pm
Never mind…Len just said I’m in Boise watching my son.
Dan Nutsac filling in.
August 8, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Frodog, I must have missed that in your previous post. I wasn’t giving you a hard time, I figured you’d see my post and take care of it-being the very responsible site owner that you are. rock on.
Ok, now, I’d love to sweep the Cards which would almost knock them out, but I’ll take two out of three. I STILL don’t believe Wellemeyer and Looper are any good and I want their overacheiving asses exposed more than anything.
August 8, 2008 at 8:37 pm
Big boys come to bat in the bottom of the eighth, two of them strike out and the other grounds weakly to the pitcher.
This has been a consistent pattern with Lee and Ramirez lately.
In the past the Cubs would give up the homerun and lose 3-2. I’m curious to see if they can reverse that today.
August 8, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Cubs take it in the bottom of the 11th 3-2! Well, so I guess this is a different ballclub than the ones we’ve been used to in the past.
Lou took a huge gamble putting in Howry in that situation, but like everything else this season, it worked out. Lilly should have gotten that win today, he pitched a terrific game. I still do not trust Howry in any situation except mop up.
August 8, 2008 at 9:45 pm
Unbelievable game.
I have a Hank White Fan Club baseball t-shirt that I got last year and he comes through when you least expect it. Also, he has helped Geovany Soto.
August 8, 2008 at 10:33 pm
Dan Nutsac?
BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 8, 2008 at 11:00 pm
One more thing to mention:
Jim Edmonds has won a lot of games for the Cubs so I think the discussion about “hating him” should be put away. I am not saying anyone on here but there are a lot of douches on the radio that are saying they still hate him. It is dumb. He is a Cub.
August 9, 2008 at 12:51 am
The only thing I that has ever pissed me off about Edmonds is him admiring pretty much any long fly ball that he hits. I never gave a shit about being a former Cardinal-I mean we tolerate Derrek Lee who hurt the Cubs more with one hit in Game 6 than Edmonds did in all his hits against the Cubs. Great job by him today and he was worked very well in the platoon system with Reed Johnson.
Holy Fucking Shit!!!- Howry doesn’t allow a hit. Two strikeouts. Tries more than just his fastball. REMEMBER HOW TO DO THAT SHIT, FUCKHEAD. THEN REPEAT. REPEAT. REPEAT!!!
August 9, 2008 at 3:58 am
was at the game today wife got me tickets for my bday she is a cardinal fan did not join the sheeple in singing go cubs go nice throw buy soriano to nail that numbnut at the plate…. also like ceasar izturis pulling a play that dusty would have been proud of trying to steal home
August 9, 2008 at 6:09 am
yea dude walks clog the bases so its time to unclog them by pulling of squeeze plays.
August 9, 2008 at 6:11 am
Robert,
I happen to like “Go Cubs Go” and I think ArmyCubsFan does as well. But yes, I agree with everything else you said and I am glad you saw that game in person with your wife.
August 9, 2008 at 11:58 am
fro i like the song to I have it on my mp3 player but after living through 84 89 03 the collapse of 04 and 07 i am not going to get exciting until we are still playing baseball late in october
August 9, 2008 at 1:50 pm
McFail and Baker are still stinking bums…something you can always count on…life is good!
August 9, 2008 at 2:28 pm
That go Cubs go song is irratating as hell to me. If you guys like it that is cool, but for me, I can’t stand it.
Trade Bob Howry for a bag of used batting practice balls.
August 9, 2008 at 6:55 pm
“Go Cubs Go”…thumbs down, too much of a sheeple vibe for me…but that is subjective. Pretty lightweight/harmless stuff, at least it’s a positive message.
August 9, 2008 at 7:19 pm
Hey genre…Speaking of douchebag, he’ll be back for three games with the Reds on the 19th. How about some suggestions on how to welcome the idiot back one last time? For some reason I have this feeling he won’t be back as Reds manager next year. I’m probably wrong about this, but it’s fun to think he could be in trouble over there already.
August 9, 2008 at 9:20 pm
Go Cubs Go – I feel the same way about that song as I do about Take Me Out To The Ballgame. I like the songs, but I would like to hear them less often than I do.
So far, it’s a 5-2 Cardinals game and Zambrano has given up three HRs. I have a feeling we aren’t going to like the final score of this game.
I followed that Brett Farve thing that ended in his being traded on Wed. Funny how much you here and read, but nothing really explained what Farve’s falling-out with the Packers was about. There was discontent for a few years, but about what. I have a feeling GB has weak coaching. Maybe I’m conditioned to think that because of the Dusty experience. WS title or not, Lou and his coaches are a huge improvement over Dusty and the coaches he had. I don’t think Dusty is going to last the length of his 3-yr contract in Cincy either.
August 9, 2008 at 9:44 pm
9-2 Cardinals as I type.
Zambrano shits his pants but even the best pitchers give up 15 hits in a game and a majority of them are in the Hall of Fame. I am not saying Zambrano is a hall of famer but I am trying to say that not everyone can be great all the time.
August 10, 2008 at 12:07 am
I hope “Big Z” has a talk with “Lil Z”…and tells him to forget about today, let it go. Get ’em next time, Z.
Chucky, please allow me think about some welcome wagon suggestions for the “toothpick chomping idiot”…I’ll get back to you in a day or two!
Fucilla, you are dead on correct re: Lou and his coaches being a HUGE upgrade over Dusty and his boys…with the possible exception of Sir Lawrence Rothschild…although the jury is still out on that and I will gladly eat my words if the Cubs make it to the postseason and do well.
August 10, 2008 at 1:27 am
The trouble with “Big Z” is he sometimes has a “Big Dump” on the mound. His emotions get the better of him more than any pitcher I have seen recently. The closest was Joaquin Andujar some years ago. Because of his temper, Andujar was never able to realize his full potential. Hopefully, Zambrano will learn to harness that temper of his, especially in the playoffs.
Did any of you take a peak at the box score? Fukudome, Lee, and Ramirez were 1 for 10!!!! Those guys are still, at this late date, struggling at the plate.
August 10, 2008 at 3:49 am
The Cubs better damn well win tomorrow, or they are looking at only a 3 game lead over Milwaukee as they go on the road.
This is what kills me about “Z” we get a nice little winning streak going, we have our “ace” pitching, and he has diarrhea on the mound. This kind of stuff always worries me. Because if we make the playoffs how do we know he won’t do the same again in a crucial game.
August 10, 2008 at 7:06 am
Zambrano’s meltdown was really unexpected against the Cardinals. 9 earned runs today against them. That is more earned runs than he allowed in his previous 7 starts against the Cardinals. Fucking bullshit!!
Sabathia and Sheets with back to back complete game shutouts with only 103 and 113 pitches total. The Cubs starters often hit that number in the 7th and even the 6th.
August 10, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Not a good time for a meltdown…let’s see if Zambrano bounces back next time out, that would be the mark of a “true ace”. Not there yet IMOP.
August 10, 2008 at 4:41 pm
I am not worried about Zambrano. We all know what he can do.
I am really pissed off at Lee and Ramirez and how they continue to swing at just about everything they see. Saturday’s game was an example in which Ramirez swung at the first pitch and it was a double play. That has to stop. Someone told me that sometimes you have to be aggressive and I disagree.
I think that rarely works so chances are if you are patient all the time, your chances of quality at-bats are higher. TAKE A PITCH FOR A CHANGE. WORK THE COUNT and even if you make an out after seeing five or six pitches, you can tell the rest of the team what the pitcher is throwing.
August 11, 2008 at 12:43 am
is fukudome Japanese for overrated
August 11, 2008 at 2:13 am
Fukudome is what they were hoping for, a left handed bat in the lineup that hits around .270, hits 10 to 15 homeruns, and plays good defense. And that’s what he’s doing this year. Those of us who thought he would be the second coming of Ichiro were in fantasyland. He’s also young enough that he can make adjustments for next season.
It’s that bullpen that still has me nervous. Now Wood is having back problems?
August 11, 2008 at 2:47 am
Some great defensive plays in this final game, I had to pick my jaw up off the floor at least 4-5 times. Just some sick stuff out there. A decent small ball offensive effort tonight too. And way to go Dempster for just completely out-pitching the Cardinals ace. Day off tomorrow, then we start beating up on the Braves.
GO CUBS GO!!
August 11, 2008 at 4:06 pm
Erniesarmy – I was thinking more like .290-18-75 with great defense. Maybe next year when he’s more accustomed to travel here and NL pitchers.
“Go Cubs Go” is OK — not great — but I do think singing it after games is pretty cool. It would better if the refrain was “Hey Chicago, what do you say? Leukemia is fucking gay!”
Not giving Z a pass for Saturday, but the wind didn’t exactly help him, and even the best have bad outings. No worries, and Dempster picked him up yesterday.
Tards now 7 back — life is good.
August 11, 2008 at 6:35 pm
71-47! I was thinking this morning that I have never ever seen the Cubs that many games over .500 in my life and I was close. The last time was 84, (I was 6) they finished the season that many over .500. Which I don’t really remember that season anyway thank God! Basically, Right now what I am saying is they are doing unbelievable. Sure they have some weakenesses but a lot of other teams in baseball do (besides maybe the Angels). But look at all the good things that are going on with this team. I’ve been waiting forever for this team to have some discipline at the plate @ there is nobody better in baseball at taking walks, & on base percentage. Hell they have even scored the most runs and have one of the best batting averages in the league. That’s not even mentioning the pitching staff which has one of the best ERA’s in the league. Sure I hate everytime Howry comes into the game or Marquis makes me want to pull my hair out from time to time. But if this team makes the playoffs these guys might not even be on the playoff roster. Hell look at Dempster 13-5 with a sub 3 ERA. Are you Fu@king kidding me!! Who the hell thought that was gonna happen??? I sure the hell didn’t. I thought he would be terrible. I know it’s only Aug 11th and there is alot of time for something bad to happen but as of right now this is awesome!! Who would have ever thought they would have this good of record at this time of the season?? I know I didn’t. Not to mention it’s great to not hear any loudmouthed red bird fans giving us shit right now! Go Cubs Go not the greatest song but it is starting to grow on me @ they can play that all day if this team continues winning. I heard my 4 @ 6 yr old boys singing it together the other day, it was sweet! Let’s hope the ride continues! @ if this is a dream don’t fu@&ing wake me up.
