Another off day…

by

Your thoughts on the Cardinals series and the upcoming road trip to Atlanta and Florida in which are two places the Cubs always have problems with.

By the way, Jim Edmonds is the man.

Yes, Edmonds is the man…I was OK with him from the start…figured if he was reasonably healthy he would contribute and he has. I bet he enjoyed the Cardinals series… HA HA HA!

If the Cubs can win the next two series–Florida in particular–it will put a little heat on the Brewers who are not going away at this time.

The Brewers being 3.5 games back is mind boggling. Their manager sucks. Their bullpen sucks and yet they are only this far out. The Cubs need to step it up this week. Four out of six is expected.

Exactly, we can’t just expect the Brewers to choke. The Cubs have to keep playing well. Before this weekend the Brewers were 5 out.

I think the remaining schedules favor the Brewers. For example, they have 9 games left against the Pirates and the Cubs only have 3. They have 21 road games left and the Cubs have 25.

This is off-topic but I had to post the link: sounds like Adam Dunn is heartbroken to be leaving Dusty Baker and the Reds…HA HA HA HA HA

…and Dusty will miss Adam the man more than his 40 home runs

Maybe if Dusty could do a better job separating business from personal, he’d be a great manager, instead of a bum (?).

    …what do you think, Neifi?

(from the article) “It was one of those pleasant surprises,” the slugger said on a conference call. “To come off the terrible month that we had in Cincinnati, and you get a phone call today saying you’re being traded to a first-place team. As a player that’s all you could ask for.”

…and Dusty will miss Adam the man more than his 40 home runs

(from the article) “It’s tougher to lose a good guy, you know, than the 40-home run guy,” Baker said. “It’s going to be tough to replace his offense, but it’s even tougher to replace the man.”

Damn, Dusty is becoming even more of a dork than I thought he could become.

Sucking Dusty’s cock IS Neifi’s business!

Man, how can Dusty win without his horses?!

Cubs go 7-3 last 10 and lose ground on the Brewers. Brewers 6-0 since Fielder-Parra altercation in the dugout.

Dusty is a retard. I just wish I could have an oppurtunity to tell him that.

I will be at the Cubs/Reds game next Thursday. I will not be behind home plate but if I was, I would hold up a sign that says “DO NOT FIRE DUSTY”. Now that would make a nice headline.

I wonder what is gonna happen to the Reds without Griffey and Dunn. That team will definitely be rebuilding. And I don’t think Dusty will be manager much longer. He’s not even fit to manage the Nationals.

Hey ESPN, he might want to come back, dude.

The Brewers played inferior teams to the Cubs, that’s why they went 7-0.

If the Cubs take care of their own business, they could care less about what the Brewers do. Cubs hold their destiny in their own hands, Cards and Brewers do not.

However, the Cubs need to go at least 4 out of 6 on this roadtrip, esp. against the Braves. 3 and 0 against the Braves, and 2 and 1 against the Marlins is what should happen IMO.

Cubs fans need to quit worrying about the Cards, Brewers, and everyone else. Quit scoreboard watching. You have a 3.5 game lead with 45 games to go. It is way to early to scoreboard watch. Win your game and wake up tomorrow and do the same thing. The Cubs are in first place for now and hold a substantial lead over the Cardinals who are in second in the wild card race, so if the Brewers catch the Cubs they still have a chance for the playoffs. After 100 years I don’t care if the Cubs win the division, make it to the playoffs and I like our chances…if we stay healthy.

  12. Nemo's avatar Nemo Says:

it’s not about scoreboard-watching-it’s about not getting comfortable and letting up because the Brewers and the Cardinals won’t. If you want to talk about inferior teams-didn’t the Cubs lose 2 out of 3 against Washington while the Brewers swept.

I understand completely about not letting up, but the Cubs have a considerable lead over the Cardinals. You are right that the Cardinals won’t let up, but I think you forget who is managing the Brew Crew and that’s old Ned Yost. They choked away the central last year, and they usually don’t finish the season all that well. There is still alot of baseball left to be played, and just because they have beaten the Nationals and the Reds doesn’t mean the wheels won’t fall off of the wagon. Sure they are very loaded offensively but the starting pitching is not going to last deep into October if Sheets and Sabathia have to pitch complete games the rest of the way. In my opinion that will be the achilles heel for that team is the bullpen. If they can finally shore it up, the Cubs could be in for one huge battle to the end of September.
