Haven’t posted on FireDustyBaker.com in over a year, but I thought it was time to come back as the Cubs in the playoffs look like them old selves under Dusty.
Fuck these guys!

101 years …
October 2, 2008 at 9:17 pm
The 100 Year Party didn’t work out.
October 2, 2008 at 9:17 pm
What wins championships? Pitching and defense.
We had pitching so far. The defense didn’t show up though.
I am done being a Cubs fan. What is the point? We are never going to win.
October 2, 2008 at 9:23 pm
FroDogs — To be honest with you, that’s exactly where I’ve been this year.
I use to be a huge Cubs fan. Posted regularly on the old board since it existed. I gave up on the Cubs this year and followed them mostly indirectly in the news and online. I haven’t even watched all that many games. Even when I saw them doing very well, I didn’t get excited. I had been burned for the last time last year. And sure enough, history repeats itself. Fortunately for me, I didn’t have much emotion invested in it this year, so I don’t feel too bad.
I said awhile back that I won’t be a true Cubs fan again until the team is sold and start playing baseball the way it should be played. AKA without $100 million payroll.
The 2003 team was the last chance we had to win it. That team had real chemistry, not a bunch of overpaid idiots.
October 2, 2008 at 9:27 pm
Rogue52,
Glad to have you back here. With myself and just about everybody on this site, the Cubs are number one in our lives. We put most of our time and emotional investment. The Cubs are probably the only thing I seriously cry over in life.
This is it for me. Win or I am done being a fan. All my jerseys, shirts, baseballs and other memorabilia are going to be sold by next week. I cannot take it anymore.
October 2, 2008 at 9:36 pm
OK, time to see if this Cubs team has any heart. Any bets?
No more excuses from management or the players. Either get the job done or clean house. Sorry but anything less than a WS title is abject failure and right now, it looks like the Cubs are headed there.
October 2, 2008 at 9:47 pm
This is absolutely defastating. I have nothing else to say except this very very depressing. I was hoping like hell this year would be different. I even tried to stay positive throughout this only to be burned yet again. I’m with you Frodogs. I wish I would have never grown up being a Cub fan nobody knows what this torment is like.
October 2, 2008 at 9:58 pm
WTF did I tell you about DP Lee and his fielding errors. Saves lots of bad throws, but not a great fielder in his own right. Nice job.
October 2, 2008 at 10:02 pm
Hey, fellas, I’ve been at this for 44 years and you know what? I still do not accept the losing. Never will I refer to them as “lovable losers” or “Cubbies.” Losing is not “lovable” and they are not cuddly little teddy bears.
Only hope for this franchise is new ownership that believes in and commits to player development and scouting. This has been the problem with the Wrigleys and now the Tribune Co.
You look at this team tonight, they’re beat, you can see it in their faces. I really thought Piniella would bring out the fight in them, as far as playoffs go, he can’t even match Dusty. At least Dusty got us past the NLDS.
October 2, 2008 at 10:13 pm
how fucking easy it is has been for the Dodgers to demoralize the “best” team in the National League?! A team that would have finished 13.5 games behind the Cubs. A team that would have finished 6 games behind the Brewers in the wild card. There is only one word for it:
PATHETIC PATHETIC PATHETIC PATHETIC PATHETIC PATHETIC
October 2, 2008 at 10:14 pm
We are never going to win the World Series. Never.
It doesn’t matter if this team wins 120 games or 85.
Only God knows if this is a curse or not. All I know is that I wish I never grew up a Cub fan. Trying to stop being a fan will be hard, but it can be done.
October 2, 2008 at 10:22 pm
Let’s see if BB Code works here:
[size=24][b]PATHETIC[/b][/size]
October 2, 2008 at 10:24 pm
guess not. whatever. FUCK THE CUBS. Go TAMPA!!

October 2, 2008 at 10:35 pm
MEMO TO THE CUBS: The phrase “NEVER AGAIN” means don’t let another genocide happen. It DOES NOT mean “never again win the world series”!
October 2, 2008 at 10:38 pm
Hey Eddie Vedder, they will never go all the way. Fucker!!
October 2, 2008 at 10:39 pm
Let’s see, the hitting sucked, the defense sucked, the starting pitching sucked, the bullpen sucked, the managing sucked. complete meltdown in every single facet of the game. CONGRAT-U-FUCKING-LATIONS!!!!!!
October 2, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Eddie, why don’t you “go all the way” with your buttfuck buddies Ramirez and DP Lee?
October 2, 2008 at 10:56 pm
Congratulations on your contract extension Lou.
The least you could have done is prepared your team for the playoffs and made sure that your pitching coach did his job. Well, (barring a miracle) it looks like you have failed miserably…for the 2nd year in a row.
On a positive note, Carlos Zambrano kept his cool and pitched a solid game. Given the horrendous fielding and hitting his teammates responded with–NO SUPPORT–that is really impressive. THANK YOU for your effort Carlos…
…and if you decide to kick some of your PATHETIC teammates asses, please use caution and don’t hurt your hands. Maybe the one positive from this game– controlling your emotions on the mound–will be a turning point in your career…I hope so.
BTW, Neil Cotts still sucks.
What a GUTLESS, PATHETIC performance.
October 2, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Who wants this website after the Cubs are eliminated Saturday? I will no longer be a Cubs fan.
October 2, 2008 at 11:00 pm
If Piniella has ANY leadership ability whatsoever, he would fucking have a massive blow-up NOW. too late to help today. but it could help for saturday if they HAVEN’T ALREADY GIVEN UP after the grand slam yesterday.
October 2, 2008 at 11:02 pm
I want the Cubs eliminated. Men in Black style flash in my face and i don’t remember the past 35 years of being a fan.
October 2, 2008 at 11:03 pm
Nemo,
Only in a perfect world would that happen. The Cubs make our lives a living hell.
October 2, 2008 at 11:04 pm
Can somebody tell me why the fuck Lou leaves Suck u cocky in to bat there in the 7th? Daryl Ward is on the playoff roster right??? Lou Right??? He is suppose to be the pinch hitter you want of you’re bench right??? Why the fuck was he not batting in that spot??? God fucking damn it!!!! Start Reed Johnson in the next game. I don’t give a shit if its a right hander I don’t want to see Kosuke playing in another game unless it is for defensive purposes only.
October 2, 2008 at 11:09 pm
Fucku needed to stay in to play defense late to keep the game close.
October 2, 2008 at 11:18 pm
BUT, BUT they need to save him for Game 4!
October 2, 2008 at 11:22 pm
I’m too pissed to post!!!
October 2, 2008 at 11:24 pm
Life sucks.
October 2, 2008 at 11:25 pm
If kevorkian was alive, i’d be calling him tonight to put me out of my fucked up misery…… god must hate me.
October 2, 2008 at 11:27 pm
Sandberg 23,
You just summed up anything and everything all of us on this site have been thinking.
October 2, 2008 at 11:33 pm
Why is this my favorite team out of any team of any sport. I deserve to get the shit kicked out of me 4 that. I hope somebody kicks the shit out of me on my way home for being such an idiot.
October 2, 2008 at 11:46 pm
Congrats, every member of the infield made an error and every pitcher gave up at least one run!!!!
October 2, 2008 at 11:49 pm
I’d kick the shit out of you Sandberg, but as a Cub fan, you’ve already had the shit kicked out of you many, many times. you need a break.
October 2, 2008 at 11:51 pm
We have all been kicked. Most of the time, we have been kicked when we were down.
I am not shocked. None of us should be. We expect to lose and we are shocked if we win. It should be the other way around. Unfortunately, our team is the Cubs.
October 2, 2008 at 11:52 pm
btw, fucking creative strike zone in the 9th.
the Dodgers are a fucking real team. They are not content to give up after a 5 spot in the second-they piled on.
October 2, 2008 at 11:54 pm
I need some vodka and some chocolate frosting.
October 2, 2008 at 11:59 pm
I’m going to leave my address….my door unlocked…. $1000 dollars on the counter…. a butcher knife along with it… can anyone come over and slice my throat in my sleep please, while I dream of the Cubs winning it all. That is the only way I will see it, and i’d rather not wake up in the morning and come to the realization that I was dreaming……..
October 3, 2008 at 12:13 am
WHO THE FUCK CARES ABOUT OPENING DAY 2009? OR THE SIX MONTHS THEREAFTER? LOU PINIELLA, YOU ARE A LYING PIECE OF SHIT!!! AND YOU WILL ANSWER THE REPORTERS QUESTIONS AFTER THE GAME, YOU PIECE OF FUCK! DON’T SUPPORT THE CHICAGO CUBS ANYMORE AND THEIR OFF SEASON AND IN SEASON BULLSHIT!!!
I HATE THE CHICAGO CUBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FUCK BASEBALL IN GENERAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 3, 2008 at 12:43 am
The first Cubs team to make back-to-back playoff appearances is about to do something they’ve never done-LOSE those back-to-back playoff appearances.
8 consecutive playoff losses and counting.
October 3, 2008 at 6:47 am
It wasn’t fun to watch? FUCK YOU, Lou–if that’s the best you can do, please do us all a favor…and QUIT. We might as well have Baker back: at least the gutless, pissing in their pants Cubbies won a playoff game under that PATHETIC asshole’s mis-direction.
“It wasn’t good baseball. In fact, the last two days, that’s probably been the two worst games we’ve played all year,” frustrated manager Lou Piniella said. “It wasn’t fun to watch, I’ll tell you that.”
I think it’s time to change the name of this team to The Chicago Cubbies. Barring a miracle, the Cubs are DEAD in the water.
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Piniella looks like a beaten old man. Rothschild is a FUCKING HACK. Can’t wait to hear what Jimbo Hendry has to say.
I’d like to Thank Sam Zell…for just being the wonderful owner that he is!!!!!!!
October 3, 2008 at 10:43 am
If they fired Piniella after this I honestly wouldn’t give a shit. These moves he has made in the playoffs the last two years what the fuck are you thinking?????? In the 7th when that ball was hit down the left field line that looked fair and was called foul. Did you see Lou when the camera panned over too him. He looked like he was paying no fucking attention to what was going on. It almost looked like the fucker was sleeping and somebody had to tell him what happened, then the fuck gets up and walks over to the railling and starts looking around like what just happened. Then no argument nothing. It’s the fucking playoffs and this asshole is acting like he is just content with having made it there.
October 3, 2008 at 10:48 pm
yes, I did see it…Lou looked like a beaten old man.
Dear Jim Hendry: Please explain to all of us long-time fans why you felt the need to extend Lou Piniella’s contract at this time…what was the hurry? We deserve an honest explanation.
But we know we’ll never get one from you or the current owners…it’s business as usual at the Chicago Tribune…and it stinks.
Your only redemption is a World Series Championship in 2008. Good luck.
October 3, 2008 at 10:48 pm
tick tock.
October 4, 2008 at 9:11 am
