The Blackhawks were two and a half minutes away from being down 3-1 against Vancouver. Then, Martin Havlat scores a goal to tie it and Andrew Ladd scores the winning tally early in overtime to even the series. Unbelievable.
Khabibulin has been shaky in net this series but he was lights out in game 4. Maybe this game will finally put him in a groove for the rest of the series. He needs to be solid because Roberto Luongo on the other side of the ice has pretty much been a wall in goal for the Canucks.
Back to Vancouver for game 5 Saturday night.

Nice win tonight. Let’s wrap this thing up in Chicago Monday.

I was impressed with the way the Hawks held their composure in the third period. They waited for Vancouver to make the mistakes and then capitolized on them. I knew it was over when the fans started trashing the place. Let’s finish them off in Chicago on Monday and move on to the conference finals.
When the playoffs started, I didn’t expect them to reach this stage just yet. I figured they were a year or two away from being a serious challenger for the Stanley Cup. Maybe these guys are better than we thought. It certainly bodes well for the future of this franchise.

I was able to listen in to the game on the radio at work. Wow!!! What a great game. The announcers said it was one for the ages, the greatest game they had ever seen. Patrick Kane came up huge with the hat trick and four points. Vancouver would not go down quietly. Khabibulin allowed five goals, but made alot of big stops also when it counted.
Who is your preference for the Western Conference Finals, San Jose or Detroit?

genre what do you think of that pittsburgh washington series…both teams look like those great oiler teams of 80s

San Jose was eliminated by Anaheim. I’d rather beat Detroit, but theoretically that would be the tougher team. Of course, when one of these #8 seeds gets hot in the playoffs-watch out. I would think the Hawks would be more motivated against Detroit-but could they also be more intimidated by them? I was extremely impressed with how they handled the physical play of Calgary and Vancouver (Game 6).
BTW-A big thanks to Rocky Wuertz for putting these games on tv all season, in HD, it has been great to watch on the big screen.

robert…I’ve barely kept up with hockey so can’t offer an informed opinion on Penguins-Capitals…will start paying closer attention now that the Blackhawks have advanced…the Hurricanes are still up on the Bruins, too but they didn’t show up in game 5…
