As most of you guys know here, some of us have been trying to arrange a get together for all of us to meet up, have a few drinks and talk sports. In fact, this has been trying to get arranged for about three or four years since we all were at the old site.
Well, this may work or may not. On Sunday, December 13th, the Bears play the Packers at noon. I was thinking since most of us here are fans of either team, we could all meet somewhere and watch the game together. It could be at a nice bar in Chicago or suburbs or maybe at a Hooters somewhere (If your wives allow it). Another idea would be to move the location somewhere close to the Illinois/Wisconsin stateline to make to the drive shorter for people like Mike, Keith and JimmyD. Those are just some options.
I think this day would be a pretty good idea to give some of the guys who live far to maybe get into town. If any of you want to bring someone along with, feel free to make a nice gathering.
With this day comes two problems so keep this in mind:
1. It is close to the holidays so some of you might feel like staying home or you may be getting ready to travel somewhere.
2. It is on December 13th so chances are, the weather may be shitty depending on the distance.
So anyway, let me know if this seems like a possibility for any of you. I figure it’s on a Sunday, most of us are off work and a Bears/Packers game is being played. When December approaches, I will check up to make sure most of you are down for it. You have just under three months to think about it.

Fro, great idea. Stateline area would be good, tho I wouldn’t mind driving into Chicago for that. Obviously, the lovely weather could and probably will be a factor…
September 22, 2009 at 11:48 pm
Mike,
If you are willing to drive to Chicago, that would be nice. For me, I am about the same distance to the stateline or the city so I am trying to figure out what’s best for the rest of you guys. A nice bar/restaurant would be good. I think a nice group of about seven to ten of us would be fine along with the guests you choose to bring with.

Hey, look at those Cubs go!
I guess getting rid of Bradley was like a cup of cold water to a thirsty man.
Where’s cement head Betti with his stats, he should find some kind of stat that vindicates Bradley, like he did Gregg.
September 23, 2009 at 1:31 am
We’ll never know, of course….but I wonder how — and when — the Cubs would have finished the season had Bradley been suspended/let go/released sooner?
FIRE JIM HENDRY.
As for the get together, I would love to attend if possible….would definitely be easier for me if it’s in Chicago but plan what’s best for the majority and I’ll try to make it…

Does anyone else here think this team should start next season with mostly minor league players? I think they should start the season fresh and just let me play. Lee has trade value so I say get what you can from him. Z can go with him and he can bring a couple prospects back. Sorianus will be paid anyway so get rid of him now along with Bradley. Maybe a package of some of those guys could get them off of this team.
I want Dempster traded in the offseason. After reading what I did the other day, this guy must care more about hazing rookies rather than what is really important which is winning a world championship. That shit is absolute childish. Making rookies dress up? It’s asswipes like him that need to grow the fuck up.
I would be fine with keeping Lilly and Wells unless we can get some more good prospects in return for any of those guys.
Do any of you guys think any of these would be possibilities?
September 23, 2009 at 10:45 am
I would keep Lilly…and after the season he had–even with A-hole Bradley fucking things up–I won’t mind if D Lee returns (my position has changed on this). I’m ok if Harden and Wells return, too.
As for the rest, whatever happens. Dempster, Soriano….PLEASE–get what you can for them and move on. Sweeping changes are in order or it could be many more years before we see a Cubs WS title.
Hendry and Rothschild must go. Both have failed miserably at their jobs….stinking bums. Lou will retire soon, that is my prediction. Whatever.
If Bradley OR Gregg are on the roster opening day 2010, I’m out of here.
September 23, 2009 at 10:48 am
Also, I think the time is right to unload Lil Z, Big Zero, Zambrano…whatever his name is…he can’t handle the pressure when it counts the most. Just make sure you get REAL VALUE for him (Mr. GM, whoever you are when that happens).
September 23, 2009 at 1:11 pm
Attention! You MUST read this, unbelievable…no wonder Milton Bradley can’t take responsibility for his PATHETIC behaviour…his MOMMY explains all:
http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=4496640
It’s no wonder he behaves as he does (like a damned stinking bum). It’s always somebody else’s fault with Milton. You’d think that a $30 million salary and the privilege to play MLB baseball would be enough incentive for him to act professionally and like a mature adult…even when under-performing.
If Bradley returns to the Cubs next year…Jim Hendry is an even bigger dummy/asshole than even I could have ever imagined.
WHAT A FUCKING LOSER Bradley is! DO NOT BRING HIM BACK.
September 23, 2009 at 3:37 pm
Genre, here’s the quote of the day –
“According to his mother, Bradley’s unhappiness in Chicago stems in part from racism that his 3-year-old son has faced at school.
“When racism hit his 3-year-old baby in school, he couldn’t take that,” Rector said in a radio interview earlier this week, according to the Sun-Times. “Parents, teachers and their kids called him the n-word. He didn’t even know it was a bad word until his mom told him.”
When asked why her son shared the information only with her this season, Rector said, “Milton is a quiet person. Stuff like that, he keeps to himself. He doesn’t want to talk about that because he doesn’t think anybody cares. It is a heartbreaking situation.”
================
Oh, of course, he didn’t bring it up because he knew no one “cares.” “Heartbreaking” is right, it’s a sham that this man is anywhere near a professional sports franchise.
I will say this now, if he is back with the Cubs next year, then I’m done.
September 23, 2009 at 3:41 pm
Following up that last post –
I mean it, I have been a Cub fan for over 40 years, and have experienced all manner of stupidity, carelessness, and overweened players, but I have never seen anyone as despicable in a Cub uniform as Milton Bradley.
So, if Hendry is still the GM, and Louser is still the manager, I will give it another shot, but if they bring back this piece of human excrement, then it’s been nice knowing you fellas, but I’m done with the Cubs.
September 23, 2009 at 9:40 pm
CUBS LOSE, CUBS LOSE! What a fucking waste of a season. Ernie, for $10,000,000 a year, people can call me whatever names they want. Milton Bradley’s mother needs to shut her hole.

If any of you live in Chicago and happen to see Rick Morrissey, make sure to punch him in his head several times for the following you are about to read”
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-23-morrissey-cubs-chicago-sep23,0,5317874.column
Is Rick Morrissey Irish Yeti dressed in drag? When the media acts like sheeple, the fans follow with.
September 24, 2009 at 12:08 am
I read it Matt Stairs and had to go take a dump.
Here is the kicker quote:
“Hendry needs to have an All-Star year in 2010, and he’s going to have to do it with his hands tied. For the most part, he is stuck with the roster he built. There will not be a lot of wiggle room, just a lot of hanging room. He has been betrayed by many people. He had given huge contracts to Soriano and Carlos Zambrano and received very little in return in 2009. They owe him.”
He has been “betrayed”? How on God’s green earth has he been betrayed? He betrayed all knowledgeable Cub fans (sorry Irish Betti that excludes you), that’s the key issue.
He is supposed to be able to recognize talent, to know what talent will mesh as a unit, to know what talent works best in that filth called Wrigley Field, and to know talent in a player that others couldn’t see. And on that criteria he has been a colossal failure!
I also noticed the poll numbers he had up – the numbers so far on firing Hendry 50%, on giving him another year 49%. So, in other words, Cub fans can’t make up their minds. If they actually thought about what a GM is required to do the numbers should have been 90% for firing!
Again, unlike any other fans I have ever known, Cub fans are the dumbest, and the most gullible. As long as management can keep the sheep in darkness about what they are really doing, this slop will go on year after year after year after year …
September 24, 2009 at 3:16 pm
matt I was reading the comments from that article and this one had me in tears
By all means, bring back the great Jim Hendry! Let’s also bring back the new Coke, the Edsel, and the bubonic plague while we’re at it and get a real party going!
September 24, 2009 at 4:50 pm
Hey, take it easy on the Edsel. Go ahead and kill everything else though.
September 24, 2009 at 4:50 pm
I clicked on the Morrissey link…but all that came up was BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Just kidding. What a PATHETIC article. What a PATHETIC organization. What a PATHETIC excuse of a GM.
Perhaps Morrissey enjoys the taste of Hendry’s ass?
September 24, 2009 at 4:53 pm
And if I every see Morrissey walking the streets I swear I’ll punch that assbag right in the nuts.
Fair warning, bitch.
September 24, 2009 at 5:40 pm
Chucky, a punch in the nuts isn’t good enough. I think something with the impact of a 60 yd. field goal attempt KICK in the nuts is the way to go.
September 24, 2009 at 7:20 pm
OK. I can’t kick that hard so I’ll find someone else. After that though I’ll bash his face repeatedly with a piece of heavy mining equipment.
Thanks to the late, great George Carlin for that idea.
September 24, 2009 at 7:37 pm
Do you think morrisey would go into a bar keep buying a lady a drink have the bartender tell him she is a lesbian and go up to the girl and say what part of lesbia are you from
September 24, 2009 at 11:54 pm
While I strongly disagree with keeping Hendry past lunchtime, I do think he has been betrayed by certain players. When you give fat contracts to people like Zambrano, Soriano, and Bradley, the least they could fucking do is always be prepared and give it their best effort. None of them have come even remotely close to doing that.
Of course, part of the job of GM is to give fat contracts to guys who will always give their all-and have a manager who will make them do that if they slack off. Hendry has failed completely in those regards-and in many others. Your bus is boarding, Hendry.
September 25, 2009 at 1:18 am
Nemo…you make a good point. I’m not a big fan of Soriano — I would be happy to see him moved — but I do believe he has made more of an effort than Zambrano to do his best. As for Bradley, he should have been flushed a long time ago. Regardless, all three of those LOSERS are being paid way too much…but congratulations to them all for beating the system.
Hendry has failed miserably….and so has Piniella. I was pulling for Girardi when the toothpick chomping idiot left….but I was OK with Piniella when Yankees changed the landscape.
Piniella has been a huge disappointment this season….in fact, for me it started in the playoffs last year…..where the hell was he?
Hendry must go….he has failed miserably. He has shown poor judgement too many times. As for Lou, maybe a change would do us all some good.
The sad thing is….it’s getting to the point where it’s no fun anymore…I am sorry.
