That’s what the Cubs were hoping for from Milton Bradley, but he’s missing this series against the Giants, part of the 15-game suspension issued last Sunday. The Cubs will try to move the switch-hitter in the offseason following a turbulent first year in Chicago. Bradley was believed to be the missing link because the Cubs were so right-handed.

Does Piniella’s dream hitter have to bat left-handed?

“I don’t care if he hits between his legs, how’s that?” Piniella said. handed, left-handed, doesn’t really matter.”

  2. genrebuster Says:

I don’t believe it…Lou let Carlos Zambrano pitch a complete game!

How many of those have the Cubs had this year?

Congratulations to “Big Zero”…tonite you pitched like a real ace.

If Bradley would have been flushed earlier in the season, things might have ended differently. One rotten apple can spoil the whole bunch.

It’s not over until the idiot GM is fired (or chokes).

  3. Nemo Says:

genre, I do think that for the most part Soriano has a good attitude towards fans. He is not the cancer that Bradley is. However, let’s not forget his comment complaining about not knowing the day before that he would not be playing-that he would not have bothered to come to the ball park prepared if he had known. EVERYBODY should ALWAYS be prepared. Also, do not forget Soriano’s comment about making the playoffs 2 out of 3 years wasn’t bad-when the wildcard was still within reach.

OK, IMPORTANT- I want to wish horrible plagues on all those responsible for the FUCKING ANNOYING AD for on the Cubs articles @the trib’s web site. The one with the stupid guy who knows Derrek Lee’s average and Zambrano’s ERA, but who doesn’t know where the huge titted ladies drink after the game. I want to bash that dude with a tire iron and I want to send that nasty chick to a leper colony. FUCK I HATE THAT AD. Did I mention that I FUCKING HATE THAT AD? BECAUSE I FUUUCCCKIING HATE IT!!!!!!!!1

  4. erniesarmy Says:

Zambrano usually comes up big when the seasons over. When he does something like this when the games count (like in the post-season), then I’ll be impressed.

Cubs are playing relaxed because they have nothing to play for, so they win a few ballgames to keep the sheepie satisfied. They should have been playing like this when the games actually mattered. Not having Soriano and Bradley in the lineup has made a huge difference in their play. Which all of us have been saying since the beginning. Note too, Louser is not using Gregg anymore, hmmm, I wonder why? Irish Betti insisted he was serviceable, what happened there Betti?

Well, my prediction for fourth place looks like it ain’t gonna happen, Milwaukee and Houston are actually worse than the Cubs. Second place, with a winning record, congrats. Now, all you sheepie out there, enjoy your October sitting home watching real professional baseball teams play games that actually matter.

  5. erniesarmy Says:

Oh, come on, Nemo, tell us what you really think!

Can’t be much more annoying than that kindergarten ditty “Go Cubs Go!”

  6. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

Z did pitch well the last two years in the playoffs. Remember in 07 when he only gave up 1 run in 6 innings and Louser pulled him because he wanted to “save” him for game 4?

Last year, he pitched well. You can thank the infield in that game for the loss.

But I agree with you that he has been quite stubborn throughout his career.

MSS already pointed out that Z did very well in the playoffs. However, I decided to look at the last month of each non-playoff year of him being a fulltime starter (2004, 2005, 2006, and 2009)

Out of those 4 years, only one of those September’s was much better than his season average. That was in 04. This September (until that start tonight, which will make his September a bit above his average, but not that much) was basically right at his season average. In 05 and 06, he performed worse in September than the rest of the year.

But yea, he does better when it’s of no use to the team and the season’s over.

  8. Nemo Says:

I would rather have “Go Cubs, Go” played on continuous loop at my 3 hour funeral than see that stupid fucking ad ever again.

  9. genrebuster Says:

Nemo…”Go Cubs, Go” on a 3-hour loop at any event is pretty fucking extreme! Now I have to go look at that ad…if I’m not back in 24 hours call the authorities.

I agree that the Cubs are playing more relaxed now that they’re out of it. But I still wonder how much Bradley affected this team…we’ll never know. I don’t see how they could bring him back next year…but then again, this is the Cubs that we are talking about.

Make no mistake, I would be happy to see SorryONo unloaded….too bad his contract is so bloated….Thanks again Hendry, you damned slob.

Rumor has it that Gregg was spotted at the compost heap…or was it the septic garden?

  10. chucky Says:

If it was a big pile of steaming shit, it was the illustrious Kevin Gregg. And right next to that steaming pile of shit was the esteemed Moe Hendry.

And the rumor is that the county that they were found in has been quarantined for the next 117 years. So I’d stay away from there.

  11. robert Says:

3 teams are interested in Milton Bradley the Royals the Giants and the Padres…Kevin Towers traded for him once and wants to again maybe there is hope

  12. erniesarmy Says:

“3 teams are interested in Milton Bradley the Royals the Giants and the Padres…Kevin Towers traded for him once and wants to again maybe there is hope”

Yeah, but what I want to know is what 3 teams are interested in Hendry?

  13. chucky Says:

Jesus, whoever designed those Seahawks uniforms should be shot in the goddamn head. Those have to be THE ugliest uniforms ever created.

  14. Dave Says:

Some good defense by the Bears, though they did let a little bit slip through. I was expecting an ass-kicking on the Seahawks because of all the injuries but they played well.

And yes Chucky, I agree. Ugly uniforms!

  15. Sandberg23 Says:

Trade that heaping pile of crap to the Royals. See how he likes being on a team that loses 90-100 games every season. See how he likes the negativety in that clubhouse.

  16. genrebuster Says:

If Bradley comes back as a Cub next year, I’ll find another team to root for. I’ve had it with the greedy motherfucking fools that run the Cubs dis-organization.

On a positive note, good to see the Bears win…happy Monday to all.

  17. robert Says:

When he shut himself down for the rest of the season, Rich Harden said he hoped to re-sign with the Cubs. But the Cubs have no plans of bringing Harden back, as manager Lou Piniella hinted Sunday before a 5-1 loss to San Francisco in the final road game of the season. The Cubs are likely concerned that the stability of his right shoulder is problematic, especially on a multiyear deal. Harden has faced questions about his shoulder before, and knows to expect it again.

Moe Hendry strikes again could have gotten a prospect or 2 instead gets nothing

  18. genrebuster Says:

I’m more concerned with the fabulous Larry Rothschild staying on as Cub’s pitching coach then Rich Harden’s shoulder…

  19. chucky Says:

I’m surprised Harden lasted as long as he did with that goddamned butcher of a “pitching coach” Rothschild around. What a fucking hack.

  20. robert Says:

chucky genre how can you post something like that remember wood and prior they stayed healthy under rotschild…

  21. chucky Says:

    They did?

(Note the sarcasm in my voice)
