Hey All,
Well, it looks like the plan to get together is coming unglued again. At this point, I guess it doesn’t break my heart too much as there’s a ton of stuff going on. On Saturday, I think I may drive down to Whitewater to watch my beloved Warhawks take another step closer to the NCAA Division III Football Championship. Of course, it looks like they’re on a collision course with Mount Union again. If I go down there on Saturday, I’m most likely not going to be up for another “football drinkfest” on Sunday. So, as Keith said in his last post on a different thread, let’s try to arrange something when that good-for-nothing-loser-piece-of-shit Genrebuster finally decides to come to town. (relax…..it’s just a little lighthearted humor).
Went to Lambeau last night and watched what seemed to be like a fireworks show; except the things falling from the sky were these little yellow flags. Christ, the game took forever because of all of the penalties. I know I’m a fan, but the Packers are really starting to look like a solid football squad….all at the right time. The defense is very stout and the offense is potent. We’ll see how far that can take us.
Check this out. Last night, at the game, there was no “fly over” at the end of the National Anthem. What’s up with that??? December 7th and no “fly over” to honor our military. That’s fucked up!!!

Ok…all kidding aside, I do need to get my ass to Chicago…long overdue to visit my folks and some family. Like so many, I’ve had quite the roller coaster ride for 18 months or so…but no more excuses.
Do you guys want to try to hook up at beginning of baseball season…or sooner? My brother and I have been talking about a visit in late January or February. Even if he can’t make it, I would book it. Or we can do April.
Say the word and I’ll make a reservation in the next 3 weeks or so. Let’s do our best to hook up — I believe we’ll have some fun — but no worries if anybody can’t make it last minute…times are tough.
Has Milton Bradley been traded yet? Has Hendry been fired yet? Has Lou choked on his Cream of Wheat yet? I didn’t think so….

Fro, believe me, when it DOES happen, Keith, Jimmy D. and I will certainly knock back a few for your entertainment! Alas, it’s coming unglued for me as well. Between the weather, work, and mostly kid stuff, I can’t leave Madison at all on Sunday, unless it’s to run my oldest daughter back to Whitewater. Jimmy, go Warhawks! There’s an outside chance my daughter Amber will be singing the national anthem at the Whitewater game Saturday; she was supposed to sing at last night’s b.ball game but that got re-scheduled for tonight.
On another note, I’m ashamed to say that Latoya Hawkins will be a resident of the state of Wisconsin for the next 2 years; Doug Melvin signed him to the Brewers for 2 years!

robert, one thing about Granderson is he is a clubhouse leader and a goodwill ambassador-both things the Cubs desperately need. You are right about the strikeouts and such (and his offensive numbers were down this year)-however, the fact is that the Cubs wanted him and FAILED to get him. And that bothers me more than anything else. The Cubs can’t even put up a decent effort to get the guys they want. Instead, they keep pathetically asking everybody if they’ll take their date home (Bradley). Give him his fare, shove him in the cab, and go find a different date already!!!

Doesn’t this offseason remind you of the one when they were trying to find a trade partner to take Sosa off they’re hands. Screwed around that whole offseason too trying to trade him and by the time they did they lost out on big name players they could have gotten. They still need another starter, couple bullpen arms, centerfielder or right fielder maybe another bench player and they have not done shit except resign one bullpen guy and got a pitcher from the rule 5 draft. All the while I’m watching the Yankees who WON the World Series make more moves than the Cubs in the offseason. I should have been a damn Yankee or Red Sox fan growing up!!!

Yeti, I agreed with that guy that “playoff success is random”. However, I did not agree with him saying that this team will not suck this year. Being the 2009 team. I said this team was going to suck before the season started and I as well as most guys here, were right.
By the way, 87-75 isn’t good enough in baseball. But since you keep bringing up stats, few teams have made the playoffs winning 87 games or less.
