They are also reporting the POSSIBILITY of Marinelli being promoted to Defensive Coordinator. AND, possibly Joe Cullen (naked drive through guy) as Defensive Line coach.

I will admit that I will soak this in for a few days, I am very happy that Ron is gone. But the bottom line is that Angelo and Lovie stay, and that means that we are fucked for the forseeable future.

Congratulations to Andre Dawson….
He was just voted in to the Hall of Fame with 77% of the vote. Signing the blank check to play for the Cubs prior to the 87 season spoke volumes about the character of the person. He went on to win the MVP that year.

Andre Dawson did not fit one of billy beanes credentials for a great player…you know that moneyball that preaches ops….taking a shit on the third tuesday of every month at precisely 2:45 PM you know that stuff stat geeks love….Milton Bradleys Ops was way better than Dawson but Dawson had the intangibles that that Nintendo baseball cant match….Andre stopped more runners going from first to third or second to home on a single….could steal a base…and for those Milton Bradley apologists who say he got a bad rap cause he got off to a slow start….Andre Started 5-47 in his cub carrer and was one of the most beloved cubs in history….

So I was looking at MLBTradeRumors.com and I see that someone has predicted the fate of the top 10 remaining free agents. He has Ben SheetsHisPants signing with the Cubs, and several free agent White Sox such as Thome and Dye going to the Tigers.
Also here come the Cardinals with all new “enhancements.” Mark McGwire as a coach? Uh oh. Also with the huge signing of Matt Holiday for a long term deal they have become the Yankees of the NL

This deal about LaRussa putting McGuire on the active roster isn’t about what McGuire could do to help the Cards during a playoff push. It’s about resetting McGuires Hall of Fame chances. As it stands now, Big Mac doesn’t have a snowballs chance in hell of getting in. The hope here is that the outrage over McGuires roid use will have died out.

That is basically correct, Robert. I would really doubt he would see any time at all at first base, but I’d bet he would get an at bat or two. Remember, it’s not about helping the Cardinals, it’s about McGuire getting into the Hall of Fame.
I only wish there could be a way to ban them from doing it. I don’t know how that could be done. And quite honestly, I think Santo deserves the Frick award more than McGuire deserves to be in the Hall. Which means neither one of them deserve it.
