Last week ole moe said we will no bring sarlin castro up …now you lied bu we will forgive you for this one if lou decides o pull a douchebag and sit him for a good veteran he should be canned right away
Does anybody see what is NOT on the list? I’ll check back and see if you guessed right. I know you guys will know the answer. Hell, how often have we all talked about it in the past?
It’s real simple. For the rest of the season Castro is your starting shortstop and Colvin is your starting LeftFielder. Time to bring in the new and take out the old.
Trade at the deadline: Ramirez, Zambrano, Lee, Fukudome, and Lilly. The problem will be their monstrous salaries (I would have included Fonzie, but we are stuck with him thanks to Hendry). But, if one of the contenders needs a third baseman, or first baseman, a right fielder, a left-handed, and/or right-handed pitcher, we may be able to dump those turds.
Problem is Hendry – He will get the wrong people, because he has no eye for talent, and he has no sense of fair market value.
Problem is also Piniella – He cannot manage younger players, or older players for that matter. Piniella just wants his warm milk, his recliner, and the remote.
The other problem is our new “genius” owner. The only way this team gets better for the future (you can forget about the present or near future) is to clean house from the GM to the Manager. Until that happens it won’t matter who they could get in trade.
Hawks lost. They just had to make it interesting. I still think they will win the series against the Canuckleheads because they are the Hawks and not the Cubs. Though I hear the cancer of losing can be contagious at times.
Ernie Lee and Lilly will not be to hard to trade if lee waives his no trade clause since they are free agents at the end of the year….but i do agree the moe lou and larry show has gone on 4 years to long
I heard that Brenly was ripping Castro a new one for making a few errors during Monday’s loss to the Marlins. It’s not the kid’s fault that Hendry has already pushed the panic button for the second time in two weeks to try to salvage this season already. It’s only May 10th!!!
Castro would have benifited greatly with a promotion to AAA instead to hone his defensive skills under Sandberg’s watch. He has already proven that he can hit. But Hendry and Lou are scrambling to save their own asses at the kid’s expense.
What a joke…as usual. This team is going nowhere as long as Hendry is GM but we’ve all known that. The best we can hope for this year is that Lou loses it completely and screams at Hendry publicly…or better yet, punched him in the throat.
Castro will be fine yet KSMC makes a good point about AAA. That said, I’d rather see him play than Lee or Ramirez…somebody tell them both that spring training is over, the season has begun.
If they can unload Zambrano, Lee and A-Ram, I say do it. Soriano is finally hitting and at least he doesn’t whine/bitch/blame like Game Boy (who might be on his way to a psych ward if he doesn’t get some seriously needed and expert help SOON). I’d still keep Lilly over Zambrano, call me crazy. Can Caridad really pitch?
If Brenley wants to rip somebody, he should rip Hendry. Ricketts is going to have to do something by the All Star break if this team continues to play as it has.
Ricketts, you are a damned fool! Clean house: FIRE JIM HENDRY. Lou might have to go, too.
Blow it up. Clean house. This is NOT a panic statement, the CULTURE OF LOSING MUST BE CHANGED.
Ricketts…you are a very successful business man, very wealthy…obviously intelligent. Why do you let this fiasco continue. Hendry is clearly MEDIOCRE at best! Surely you recognize that?
One more thing: maybe it would be best for Starlin Castro to spend a little time with Sandberg in AAA (?). He can hit…but he is not going to single-handedly save this Cubs team…so would it hurt to have him work on some defensive fundamentals? FUNDAMENTALS: does anybody think that’s worthwhile?
“Highly touted Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro, who was called up Friday, committed his fourth error in two days and fifth of the season on pinch-hitter Wes Helm’s grounder in the eighth inning.”
A couple of thoughts on this:
1) I agree with KSMC that more work in AAA might have helped, perhaps would have helped. However, this team must start now on re-building. Castro is going to take his lumps, but he will learn. Furthermore, the kid can hit.
2) What does that say about the teaching of fundamentals down at the lower levels? Most rookies coming up know how to field their position. Where they usually struggle is at the plate.
3) If you send him back down, who will play shortstop? Ryan “I never met a grounder I loved” Theriot? Keep Theriot over at second, he can do less damage over there.
4) The Cubs are going nowhere anyway, why let the kid languish in AAA when he can learn the position up here playing with our AAA team.
By the way, Genre, Brenyl will not criticize Hendry, that would actually place the blame where it belongs.
No need to trade anybody until Hendry is gone. He has made enough of a mess already, no need for him to make more.
It’s time for this organization to move on. Ricketts was hoping for evaluating this team after the season, but with the gaffes from management and piss poor play on the field, it might prompt Ricketts to make decisions much earlier than expected.
Aram has came out and said I am my own batting coach… Yeah that is working real well….The two cubs who wont listent to jarimillo are…Lee and aram….
Moe must go
Promote Randy Bush to GM
Leave Tim Wilken where he is he is doing a fine job of drafting the right players…(a good minor league system can make a good year great
Let Ryno manage the club…now for all you people who want a veteran manager….that has worked well for 102 years…louzer douchebag and a bunch of people named jim or don
The AXE should fall in this order moe louzer crotschild oneire fietta…(the guy who is in charge of the whole minor leages.)
It isn’t working out too well, is it? Hendry should have been fired long ago….I can only hope that his time is running out. Zambrano is NOT an ace and IMOP will not become one…but has moving him to the bullpen really helped the Cubs?
I’d like to see the Cubs put him back in the rotation long enough to package him, A-Ram and Derek Lee in a meaningful trade that will help the team in the long run. TICK TOCK…
“To get this clear, I was unhappy the first day they told me that [he would be moved to the bullpen],” Zambrano said. “I wasn’t sure it was going to work, but I’m a reliever now. I have to do my job as a reliever. I’m happy now. I’m happy, I’m here and can help this team. Today I didn’t help this team. But, believe me, I’m happy to do whatever situation that they want me to. If tomorrow they want me to go back to the rotation, I’ll go back there. Then I’ll be more than happy to go back to the rotation.”
Is it working? Lou? Anybody? What a PATHETIC organization, what a crappy team.
What a joke. I am beginning to not give a fuck anymore about this year. I said before last season and this season as well on this blog that it was over before it started. Unfortunately, the sheeple aren’t here to admit their ignorance. But as always, this team will probably win a few games in a row and then they may pop up on here but will then quickly go back into hiding when they lose a few in a row after that.
There are 18,000,000 reasons why Zambrano should be happy. Or rather, that he really doesn’t care that he lost the game. How about a team fine of $50,000 for every blown save and loss by Zambrano. I’ll bet that would light a fire under Zambrano’s ass again! Or maybe then he would whine and say again that the Cubs should trade him. How about just release the bum.
I said before the season started that the Cubs would finish next to last. The only team I thought may be worse was the pathetic Astros. Now, I’m not so sure who’s more pathetic.
Trades need to be made, but my position is no trades until they can Hendry, Piniella, and Rothschild.
What good would it do to bring in talent, then have them ruined by this bunch?
Get good knowledgeable baseball people in these positions, then do your trades.
Hey, Genre, I took a peek at your thread, and found this gem:

I really feel sorry for Cubs fans. This loser, this very rich loser, is a perfect example of why your team perpetually sucks. Any organization that would give that kind of money to a head-case who was pretty good for a short time, but never awesome, deserves to lose. Of course he’s happy. He’s making the same amount of ridiculous money, and has to work about one seventh as much. The only redeeming thing about him are the highlights of him breaking things and fighting with teammates. Good stuff.
Why is it that non-Cub fans can see what management cannot? Seriously!
yeah Ernie…”Raymondo” (from your previous post) has it right.
As does Christopher K, you and and millions of other Cubs fans (or former fans).
You are actually correct: No point in trading for anybody until Hendry, Piniella, and Rothschild are gone. I’d be willing to give Lou a little more time if he would throw Hendry & Rothschild under the bus…but he’ll never do it. He’d rather be a loser.
I guess Ricketts would rather be a loser, too.
Look at the Cubs schedule to date season: they have actually exceeded my expectations (in a bad way)…they have played even more poorly than I was counting on!

Here is something I thought was rather funny. It’s a list of the top 9 uses for a towel in sports.

Kevin Gregg told Dave van Dyck of the Chicago Tribune he was open for anything regarding a return to the Cubs, but they said no

Brethren, let us rejoice in the small victories: on a positive note, Caridad threw 10 pitches, 8 for strikes — (cue Yeti) — and didn’t allow a runner.
Barring any major shifts in philosophy, my remaining days as a fan are dwindling. For real.
