Jimmy Johnson was right.

by

Many were thinking Jimmy Johnson was a lunatic last week when he said that the Bears seemed to have found their coach in Marc Trestman. It turned out he knew more than we did.

I am sure most of us here had no idea who this guy was until two weeks ago. He’s been around for about two decades in the coaching world and everywhere he has been, it’s been a success as far as the offense is concerned. I am fine with Rod Marinelli still being the defensive coordinator although it has been frustrating to watch the Bears in late half and late game situations when the I-Pass defense makes their presence felt. Side note, it turned out that the Broncos did their best impression of the “Cover Who” defense on Saturday. Ouch.

I am on board with this hiring. In fact, I am with Phil Emery on all of his decisions so far. He has said all the right things and unlike Angelo, he actually explains his actions rather than insult media reporters (whistle Dixie!). If anything with this hiring, it’s a breath of fresh air from the last guy. I am confident that we will not hear the phrase “We get off the bus running” anymore.

Your thoughts in the thread.

Whoa there, it seems that Johnson was ultimately right, but that does not mean he knew inside information. He’s still a crazy wino in my book but that’s ok.

I’m waiting on the “Bears went cheap” and “McCaskey’s don’t care about winning” chorus that’s been singing the last few days.

You would think with a big payroll (not maxed out but not cheap either) and a coach/GM who were making 5 mil each those rumors would be laid to rest. Apparently not.

Also Trestman has more NFL experience then McCoy. The tards out there seem to forget he was an NFL coordinator as well.

His CFL experience prepares him for the NFL – it don’t matter that the rules and schemes are different, he has experience managing games himself.

Also apparently fat ass has been already relieved of his duties – Aaron Kromer is the new OC.

Already a step in the next direction.

Tony….if you’re waiting for the “cheap McCaskey” line of bullshit to come out, I might suggest tuning in to Boers and Bernstein this afternoon. Those two seem to draw out the most batshit crazy, stupid, knuckledragging dipshit Bears fans on the planet. It isn’t that the McCaskeys have been cheap. They haven’t. It’s that a lot of money went to the wrong place, i.e. Mike Tice. Mike Martz, etc. That list could go on forever.

It’s a miracle that Boers and Bernstein aren’t crazed alcoholics from dealing with some of the absolute dumbest bastards walking the planet.

  3. Tony Cossio Says:

I agree, it makes me wonder if the call-screeners purposely put them on because ESPN 1000 does not have nearly the batshit craziness that goes on there.

Also update: joe d camillus is hired as ass HC/ and ST Guru.

They are arguing on 670 is Johnson was correct all along since the hiring of these coaches are so quick. I like it though.

Wow, he already has a team in place.

  4. Fro Dog Says:

Remember when the Bears ousted Turner and it took them forever to hire Martz because no one else wanted to come here because of Smith? My, oh my, how things have changed. As we all have said here, we don’t know how this is going to work out but now, you can’t help but feel good that they are at least bringing someone with at least some football knowledge.

  5. chucky Says:

Fro….wasn’t part of the reason that nobody wanted to come here is tthe uncertainty of Lovies status with the team? Nobody wanted to come to the Bears if Smith was going to be shit-canned at the end of the season.

  6. Fro Dog Says:

That ties into what I was saying so yes. But really. Turner sucked at calling plays and Lovie still backed him up. Also, I have one more thing for you and for our “amateur wrestler”, Greg:

    I’M THE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!

  7. Kevin Hill Says:

Trestman looks good so far, get a coach who can develop the receivers now

  8. genrebuster Says:

    hehehe

  9. chucky Says:

Goddamn, right on cue, the idiots lined up to call Boers and Bernstein. The first one out of the gate bitched that some guy out of Canada is coming in and taking an American job with unemployment in this country as bad as it is. Right now I’m dealing with serious blood loss from both ears. People like that make me want to deny being a Bears fan.

    Beyond PATHETIC!!!!!

  10. MadCityMac Says:

I’m shocked B&B don’t have a fucking stroke when the meatballs start calling. Chucky, I don’t know if it was the same guy you were talking about but some idiot from Two Rivers (I’m assuming Two Rivers Wis., up near Manitowoc) was complaining about the Canada thing, and then went off about “why don’t they just hire somebody from Australia”; it always blows my mind when people complain about B&B ripping stupid people. Hell, that’s half the fun with those two!

  11. DVXPrime Says:

I haven’t listened to B&B in years, and damn but I seem to be missing something.

So far, so good. New guy has some winning playoff games and championship experience, knows how to raise QBs, has hired his own OC…

Let’s see what happens in the draft and free agency…but so far everything is moving in the right direction.

  12. chucky Says:

Mac….Bernstein does have a stroke sometimes! You ever listen to the guy? He has lost his mind at times with morons. Some of the best ones are on Youtube. Hilarious shit.

The head coaching vacancies are filing up and I don’t see Lovies name being mentioned anymore. Could it be he may not be as good as he thinks he is? He still is as arrogant as ever.

  13. genrebuster Says:

Lovie is a bum! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

  14. chucky Says:

Mac….I’m listening to the podcast now. The guy I was talking about was from Kennelworth. The guy from Two Rivers followed him. And they were both insane.

SHOW DA FIRE AND PASSION, MY FRENDT!
