IF he pans out to be the player everyone projects him to be, this is a bargain. The contract averages out to less than 6 million a year over the 7 years. My feeling is he will be an excellent first baseman, as long as he’s healthy. And that’s something you have to gamble on. If you don’t, no team would ever get anywhere. So, I actually like this deal.
