You know what’s PATHETIC? Just like the last few years, this team could easily be .500 or slightly above while being in contention for a playoff spot…instead, the bullpen continues to be the gasoline on the fire. The starters, even in previous years, has always been solid. It’s been the bullpen that is the downfall. It’s sad that this dis-organization, after all of these years, CANNOT fix this problem.
I see that the fine offense of the Chicago Cubs is on full display again today. Three whole hits. Amazing output.
Fuck this goddamned team, man. And Genre, you left off some names in that poll. You forgot dork, idiot, shithead, and massive douchecopter. Don’t worry pal, I got you covered.
That “Ricky” Renteria sure is a fucking genius. The Cubs, who can’t seem to buy a fucking run has Derwood Barney, who can’t even hit his goddamned weight, starting game 2 tonight at second base. Brilliant fucking strategy you grinning fucking doofus. Fucking go back to San Diego you moron.
Again, fuck this goddamned team. They deserve to fucking lose.
Damn, no kidding. They sure aren’t getting anything from this bunch of losers, pitchers excluded. If I were one of the starts I’d be pissed at the lack of run support.
Hey look…our favorite stat geek has made another cameo.
Yeti…come on. Don’t you want this team to get better? You want them to continue finishing at the bottom for draft picks? As patient as some of us are suppose to be, the results are coming fast enough.
As far as your point about wins…did it ever occur to you that if they had that record, some of those wins you talked about would have came against contending teams? They finished with what…65-70 wins? Add 11 more and those ones could have came against teams they were fighting for spots were. But that’s okay…come back when you have more stats on Kevin Gregg, will you?
That’s a fair point, but it would depend on who’s ahead of them. If it’s a divisional opponent, then there would be a decent chance there’d be a large swing, but it’s not guaranteed.
No, I’m hoping they’ll start to be good next year as the young guys will likely be coming up or already up, and hopefully there’s someone out there they’ll want to sign

106 years and counting…

In 2013, 81-85 wins would have been good enough for being behind 1-2 teams for the last wild card.
In 2012, 81-85 wins would have been good enough for being behind 1-2 teams for the last wild card.
In 2011, 81-85 wins would have been good enough for being behind 2-3 teams for the wild card.
So, be around .500 and barely miss the playoffs and not get a high draft pick? or be in the cellar, miss the playoffs and get a nice draft pick?
I think I like the second option better.

So what your saying is the Cubs have been “tanking” for 106 years? Makes sense.

Can’t wait until the young guys start coming up. One can only hope that at least some of them pan out…

Who the fuck has voted “Genius” in that poll 3 times? Are you fucking kidding me? Ricketts can be called a lot things. Genius is not one of them.
