….a few of the Cubs moves, to date.

by

Wade Davis (closer) and Jon Jay  (cf) are in.

Jorge Soler and Dexter Fowler are out, as is Aroldis Chapman (no surprise there; he was a “rental” that paid off).

Jason Hammel’s option declined.

What do you think?

Good so far. Wade Davis is a more reliable closer. Loved that trade. Didn’t need Soler and he’s a better fit as an AL DH. Don’t care about Jason Hammel. Jon Jay will be a utility defensive outfielder at most. ‘

Next year’s lineup looking like Almora-Bryant-Rizzo-Scwharber-Zobrist-Contreras-Russell-Heyward-Pitcher with Baez and Jay as part of bench. From what I understand, Mike Montgomery will join starting rotation next year. So Hendricks-Lester-Arrieta-Lackey-Montgomery.

There’s one thing I’d like to see them do, although they probably won’t. Their farm system is loaded with bats. With Lester & Lackey aging, Arrieta possibly out after 2017, and Montgomery as an unknown, I’d like to see them trade for a high-grade pitching prospect who could project into the rotation by 2018.

The Wade Davis moves scares me…he went to the dl twice last year with flexor strains….aaron crowe luke hochevar and gregg holland all had serious arm injuries cause of the way yost uses his bullpen….hope his two trips to the dl with flexor strains are not the prelude to something bigger
