Miguel Montero banished from the Cubs (fine with me).

Montero was probably in trouble anyway after giving up 24 straight stolen bases…but him running his mouth was just the push that Theo needed. What a dumb-ass.
That being said, no matter where the Cubs stand in the division, I just don’t see a pennant run from the Cubs this year. between injuries, poor performance, and on/off field bullshit like this, there’s no way the Cubs can put together the hot bats/solid pitching needed to get a two week run on getting back into the pennant race.
On a lighter note, here’s hoping you have a good time at the Fire and Passion match this weekend. Mayhap you can make a blogpost about your travels to Toyota Park?

It’s a weak division, so they might be able to squeak into the playoffs. But I wouldn’t expect them to go far…
“Dumb-ass” is more than fair (Montero)….ha ha ha ha.

Speaking of “buh bye,” Rajan Rondo was cut by the Bulls last night.
Two (alpha dogs) down, one to go.
Yup, the Bulls are tanking after all. Motherfuckers.

Montero was never afraid to speak his mind, of course that was his undoing. His comments were very unbecoming of a good teammate. With that said, I will miss his clutch bat and he will remain a postseason hero for that clutch hitting, especially the NLCS grand slam and the RBI single that won the World Series. We have a new clutch hitter now in Jon Jay, not a lot of home run power but can single and double with seemingly routine efficiency.
Also Schwarber has improved his swing in the minors, perhaps we will see some improvement when he returns. Something like an .800 OBP in his last 10 plate appearances. Starting to choke up on two strikes much like Rizzo has been doing, and it has been effective. Maybe a late season run to win the division is not out of the question, even if the team is not good enough to go very deep after that.

I’m disappointed in Montero, not so much angry; he should have known better (especially after his first transgression).
He was an important part of something very special…and I’m surprised he didn’t take that into greater consideration before airing his comments publicly.
Baseball is a team sport…Montero’s behavior was selfish and uncalled for. Given the Cubs’ struggles this year, I’m glad he’s gone. I won’t be surprised to see somebody else “step up”. There’s no room for darkness in the clubhouse.

Should have fucking sent Lester with him to Toronto. What the fuck was that shit in the first today?

Somebody else noticed?
I am slowly but surely losing faith in the Cubs defending their title.

DVX…..been there, done that. And I got the t-shirt too.

Hey Chucky! Lester gave up 10 runs in the First Inning! Remind me; how much are the Cubs paying him to pitch? They can give me a tenth of what he’s making and I can give up 10 runs in the first inning … no problem! This franchise has regressed to 2011 Cub baseball.

Good news, men! No Cubs games for a few days!

Ernie…sorry for the delay. I think it’s in the vicinity of 8 years, $155 million. Totally bullshit to give any pitcher that kind of contract. I hated it from day one.

Chucky! No problem my friendt. Giving any pitcher that kind of money was stupid. Now they’ve got a broken down “ace” with no where to go with him. Wade Davis gave up the dinger that lost the All Star Game tonight. Everywhere Cub players go, they lose.
