12 games to go.

by

My Frendts, Ladies and Gentlemen: hats off to Mike Montgomery. Couldn’t have come at a better time. And how about Wade Davis?

(does anybody miss Aroldis Chapman? Not me, although I appreciate what he did with the Cubs last year).

Yes, tonite the “great” Cubs pitching – and bullpen (!) – showed up, and the crappy ones stayed home. The bats were almost non-existent, but they have been very heated of late….one run was enough.

Since being swept by the Brewers, the Cubs are 7-0. Hard to know which Cubs team is going to show up, but they have been playing really well since the All Star break. This 7 game winning streak couldn’t have come at a better time.

….Brewers-Cubs and Brewers-Cards may tell the tale.

Thoughts?

Pedro Strop actually pitched a perfect inning of relief tonight. Welladay.

And you’re right, Fro Dog: this next week-plus will tell the tale.

Milwaukee’s pitching is on a roll right now. Cubs bats are going to have to wake up when they get there on Friday. Their anemic performance tonight won’t get it done against the Brewers.

This four game series coming up will decide who wins the Central.

The Brewers are playing like they want the Central … real bad. The Cubs need at least, the bare minimum, of a split in Milwaukee. Anything less, and they will be going into St. Louis shaking in their knickers! Which will probably lead to losing 3 of 4 to the Cardinals. And with the Brewers on fire, they will probably pass the Cubs during that series.

Bottom line: Cubs have no room for a losing streak … of any kind!

  3. chucky's avatar chucky Says:

Sadly, Jon FUCKING Lester shits the bed again tonight.

    Fucking overrated hack.

  4. erniesarmy's avatar erniesarmy Says:

    Chucky is right on again!

This is why I just do not believe the Cubs will win the Division or make the playoffs.

Only into the fourth inning and Lester has already given up six hits and 4 runs.

The Cubs? No runs and 1 hit! That is correct 1 friggin hit!

Cardinals are taking care of Cincinnati and the Brewers will take care of Pittsburgh. So both teams will pick up a full game on the Cubs after tonight.

    Too inconsistent!!!!

  5. genrebuster's avatar genrebuster Says:

Well, at least the Brewers blew it last night.

    Arrieta tonite…tick tock…tick tock.

  7. erniesarmy's avatar erniesarmy Says:

Cubs have to go 4-4 against Brewers and Cards. Anything less and they’re history.

  8. erniesarmy's avatar erniesarmy Says:

Let me reverse that; the Cubs have to go 2-2 against the Brewers. The Cardinals aren’t the threat. The Brewers are.

  9. erniesarmy's avatar erniesarmy Says:

Cubs lose first game to Brewers after Maddon the idiot puts in Strop, Wilson, and Grimm, probably the three worst relievers in the pen, to “shut down” the Brewers.

This club has major pitching issues, especially in the pen.
Counsell is outmanaging Maddon. Which doesn’t surprise me.

  10. genrebuster's avatar genrebuster Says:

Correction: the Cubs won on 9/21. 😉

  11. erniesarmy's avatar erniesarmy Says:

As he finishes choking on the crow feathers in his throat, Ernie puts away his prognosticator hat for the remainder of the season.

That’s it! I’m done! No more posting for me until the game is over. Stupid Cubs made me look bad … Grrrrrrrr……

  12. genrebuster's avatar genrebuster Says:

Ernie, keep that prognosticator hat on…it’s Maddon’s fault, my frendt!!

  13. erniesarmy's avatar erniesarmy Says:

Sorry, Genre, my frendt, but the prognosticator’s hat went to storage.

And I do blame Maddon for being such a stubborn hard head!

Never, ever, ever put Wilson or Grimm in a close game…EVER!

I know his choices are limited, but he’s got to use his head. Those two have era’s in the high fives! They are going to put men on base and give up runs. It’s inevitable.

  14. genrebuster's avatar genrebuster Says:

I think Wilson is the worst. But Grimm is not far behind. Theo and Hoyer have to make some moves….

  15. dvxprime's avatar dvxprime Says:

Glass half empty: Lackey serving up gopher balls to the two lightweights in the line-up.

Glass half full: Up 4-3 after spotting the Brew Crew a 3-0 lead.

  16. genrebuster's avatar genrebuster Says:

Another great win in 10 innings.

  17. erniesarmy's avatar erniesarmy Says:

Cubs are playing like champions. Brewers are playing like also-rans. Champions usually come out on top in games like this.

With their pitching, Brewers are going to be tough next year.

Pen performed very well tonight, except for Duensing. I really liked what I saw from Rondon. If he can get back on track, then the Cubs have a shot to go far in the playoffs.

  18. dvxprime's avatar dvxprime Says:

    Chicago Cubs gotta Chicago Cub…

Not gonna make it easy to clinch that division title (and the only playoff berth coming out of the NL Central) are ya?

  19. erniesarmy's avatar erniesarmy Says:

    Cubs lose 4-3 thanks to Maddon’s pig-headedness.

Davis already gave up the tying run in the ninth. Why chance him in the tenth? Put in Marshall or Rondon.

Like last year with Chapman, Maddon is going to run Davis into the ground.

  20. chucky's avatar chucky Says:

Ernie….this loss is directly on Maddons head. He ran Chapman into the fucking ground last year, and he’ll do the same to Davis before it’s over. If this looks familiar, it is because the Cubs had a manager several years ago who ran his best pitchers through a fucking meat grinder. Remember him?

    Dusty FUCKING Baker.

  21. genrebuster's avatar genrebuster Says:

Silver lining? Wilson actually looked good, for a change. That could bode well, if they do extend their season.

  22. genrebuster's avatar genrebuster Says:

Today was a very good day for the Cubs. And a very good day off for the Cubs bullpen .

  23. erniesarmy's avatar erniesarmy Says:

Agree Genre. Oquendo came up with a huge effort today. 3 hit complete game shut out of a very good baseball team.

Cubs give us games like this to tease us into believing they are going to go all the way to the World Series again. I’m not buying into it until I see what they do against Washington in the NLDS.

  24. genrebuster's avatar genrebuster Says:

ernie. IF the Cubs were to lose to the toothpick chomping idiot and his horses, I fear that my mental health would suffer greatly.

  25. erniesarmy's avatar erniesarmy Says:

Sat down tonight expecting to watch the Cubs clinch the Division with their “ace” on the mound. 5-1 Cardinals and Arrieta looks like crap! And we’re only in the second inning!

Everytime I’ve seen Arrieta pitch he does this – walk, walk, triple, walk, home run, walk…. If the Cubs can sign him as a number 2 or 3 starter, then ok. But if he wants “ace” money, forget it! The guy is no ace! Quintana and Hendricks have more “ace” potential than Arrieta.

  26. chucky's avatar chucky Says:

Ernie….get ready to say goodbye to Arrieta. His agent is Scott “Greedy bastard” Bor-ass.

  27. erniesarmy's avatar erniesarmy Says:

I got no problem with that Chucky. Arrieta is fragile and inconsistent.

He teases you with his stuff one day, then craps the bed the next.

Let Boras try and get top dollar somewhere else. Cubs badly need pitching help next year. Milwaukees pitching is going to be nasty.

  28. genrebuster's avatar genrebuster Says:

Arrieta is inconsistent. But they are fighting back at the plate…again. Good to see.

    FUCK Boring-Ass.

  29. erniesarmy's avatar erniesarmy Says:

Cubs win the Central! And Lackey looked good. Bullpen gets a “C+”.

The Cubs glaring weakness going into the NLDS is Relief Pitching and a questionable Arrieta and Lester. You cannot win without a solid bullpen. And the Cubs just don’t have it this year.

However, versus Washington, I do think the Cub bullpen is better. So, hang on to your butts…

And, as Genre says, “Cubs cannot lose to Dusty! No way!”

  30. genrebuster's avatar genrebuster Says:

They did it!!! The hangover may be fading…..tick tock….tick tock….tick tock.

SHOW DA FIRE AND PASSION, MY FRENDT!
