You fans older than me have many memories of the man known as “Stosh.” I wasn’t alive to see him play, but hear he was the greatest Blackhawk ever. I have had his jersey shirt for many years, though. I still wear it proudly.

I’ve been a Blackhawk fan pretty much as long as I’ve been a Cub fan. My uncle used to play high school hockey when I was little and every Saturday morning my grandpa took me to the games. This led me to following the Blackhawks and Stan Mikita quickly became my favorite player. I named my first dog Stan after him and we used to play hockey in the snow on our back patio.
I first head about Stan Mikita’s dementia 3 years ago when the Hawks last won. I had forgotten about it amid the euphoria of winning a third title. He live a good life, but what a bullshit thing to happen to people. I don’t really believe in heaven or such, but if it does exist, I hope he’s there. Thanks for the memories.
