The Bears handled business in their final preseason game. While there are still many concerns, I was happy to see how well the offense played in the first half. The defense did their job in the first half as well holding the Titans to three field goals.
Tyson Bagent was near perfect. This is his fourth season and he’s done well in every preseason game. I know most will say it doesn’t mean much given the history of this team. But the more experience, the better. He’s always one play away from being in a meaningful game. He had that beautiful pass to Zavion Thomas that ended up being a 97-yard touchdown pass on the first offensive play of the game. Then on fourth down in the red zone, he found a way to throw the ball off his back foot right into the hands of Maurice Alexander for a touchdown. He was 16-17 for 208 yards.
Zavion Thomas was outstanding. This guy has speed and I could see him being a returner as well. It’s very much possible that the coaching staff is dumb enough to fuck up his potential. Let’s pray he overcomes the bad coaching.
Case Keenum played in the second half and promptly sucked ass. I still don’t understand the purpose of this guy being on the team. I mean, if he’s a good mentor to Williams and Bagent, great. But have him as a coach. Let’s see more of the fourth string rookie, Miller Moss. Way more potential there.
I find it mind-boggling that the left tackle position is between five guys and apparently, all of them are incompetent. For the love of God, can this offensive line ever be consistently healthy and good? With cuts for all teams being tomorrow, Ryan Poles needs to find not only a left tackle or two, but also two other players in the secondary. I still don’t have any confidence in the secondary to do their job, especially with the injuries piling up.
The real games begin two weeks from tomorrow. The Panthers are up first. Let’s pray this team gets much healthier between now and then.

It’s nice to see Ryan Poles continue to cut players he drafted in the last two years (Kiran Amegadjie and Ruben Hyppolite). Instead of having players drafted and ready to contribute the next several years, he continues to show he’s a failure by drafting failures.

Hey, guys, I just read that Super Bowl champion Matt Suhey died last Saturday night. He was 68 years old.
Way too young……… Damnit, this sucks.

I saw the news about Suhey Sunday morning. Obviously, before my time. He was discussed last season after both Swift and Monongai had 100 yards or more rushing in a single game. The last duo to do this was Payton and Suhey. Scored a touchdown in the only Super Bowl the Bears won.
