If anyone actually said the Bears were going to do what they did tonight, I would call you a liar.
I cannot believe this happened. Sure, the Bears have that one game every year where no one expects them to win. Is this the one? Or is it still ahead of them? I was frustrated at the defense on a couple drives giving up some plays. But overall, they stopped the Eagles when it mattered the most. The season is saved for now.
Case Keenum is the player of the game. And again, if anyone said he was going to play like this, you are a liar. Ben Johnson put him in a position to fail on one drive that left the team empty-handed. But holy shit, what a night. He was making some crazy passes off the back of his foot. He was making crisp passes all night and the receivers didn’t let him down. Certainly, that drop by Odunze that fucked up the drive at the goal line pissed me off. But he made up for it with key catches afterwards. Either Ben Johnson actually used common sense or Case Keenum ignored whatever call was made when he rushed it for a touchdown at the goal line late in the game to put it away. My guess is Keenum knew the call by Johnson was fucking stupid and ran it the yard up for the touchdown.
I was pleased with the running game on a tough night. In the second half, it picked up even more. Swift and Monongai contributed in the second half that helped put the game away.
The defense. I am going to be pissed off for a couple different reasons. First, letting the Eagles go 95 yards was inexcusable. If it wasn’t for Jalen Hurts needing to be examined for a concussion, that game ends up being tied. Andy Dalton came in and threw the ball right to Daniel Thieneman. Penalties by the Eagles also fucked up things. But the defense letting the Eagles drive down with ease right before halftime and then letting them drive down late to try to cut the game to two touchdowns is inexcusable.
At least the Bears won. The Jets are next on the schedule. We’ll see what happens. I am going to bed now.
