Yeah, I am still going to complain. Why? Because if you told anyone that an NFL team would have nearly 500 yards of offense (with it nearly being split run and pass), they would think a team put up 30-40 points. Not the Bears. Because of Ben Johnson’s continued stupidity, this game was a lot closer than it should have been. Thankfully, the defense on every possession except one bailed along with numerous penalties by the Jets bailed out the fuckery of Ben Johnson.
Here’s a shocker: A huge amount of credit goes to the defense. An interception by Bagent along with a fumble by Swift were the only reasons why the Jets had points to begin with. The secondary was outstanding and the blitzes threw Geno Smith off all day. Yes, that touchdown in only two plays pissed me off. Inexcusable. But I am not going to get too pissed off at that. Great play also by the defensive line including Austin Booker getting a sack. Dayo and Devin Bush also got in on that fun.
D’Andre Swift had a terrible game. I still felt he got that touchdown on the 4th down at the goal line, but he should have never got the ball to begin with. Case Keenum, to my belief, called his own play last week by sneaking it up the middle for the touchdown. It’s time Tyson Bagent does the same because Ben Johnson is a fucking idiot. I was screaming on my couch on that 2nd down “QUARTERBACK SNEAK YOU FUCKING MORON.” Yet, a pass play for nothing. Then two straight touchdowns that weren’t touchdowns by Swift. No excuses. That’s all coaching. The Bears should have been up 14-0 after the first two drives.
Tyson Bagent, like Keenum, did just enough to win. Some of those passes were AWFUL. He had one interception, but three others called back on penalties. The discussion all week was whether or not to give Keenum another chance. And hey, Keenum could have went out there and played like Todd Collins for all we know. If Bagent is starting next week, he needs to call his own plays when common sense isn’t being used.
Very happy with the running game despite Swift having another bad game. The Bears will need him to step up and play like last year. He could have very easily cost this team another game because he can’t hang onto the ball this season. Kyle Monongai and Roschon Johnson stepped in for the final quarter with some huge plays.
Credit to Cairo Santos for knocking down three field goals. Again, due to the incompetence of his head coach, he’s having to be out there more than just after touchdowns. It would be really nice to see the Bears play a game where they aren’t stopped at the goal line.
The Bears are on the road against the Packers next week.

OK, I’m calling it a day. I’m not doing anything more outside in my back yard for today. I had the game on the radio, but I honestly missed a lot of the game because it’s pretty hard for me to listen to the radio and actually follow what’s happening on the field. It did serve one very useful purpose, however. It reminded me of just how much i fucking hate Jeff Joniak. I mean goddamn, I thought nobody could be worse at sports commentary, but jesus jumping fuckin’ shitballs, that dumb bastard just went out there and topped his own shitty performances! Stupid comments, stupid metaphors, you name it, Joniak will fuck it up. There’s a couple of statements from your post game summary that I want to comment on, so here goes…….
Answer: You weren’t alone, Fro. So was Dan Hampton. You’re in great company, my friend! He said as much in the first half hour of the post game show.
2. Fro: “Very happy with the running game despite Swift having another bad game. The Bears will need him to step up and play like last year.”
Answer: I love to gamble, but I’ll be goddamned if I would take that bet. Just my opinion, which yes, I know, has been really wrong in the past, but I think Swift may be done. I googled his career stats, and I’m sorry I wasn’t really that impressed in the first place. I’d give Kyle Monongai and Roschon Johnson more chances and see how they respond. Who knows, maybe we’ll be pleasantly pleased with how they perform with more snaps. At this point I don’t think it will hurt the Bears if they try. Your thoughts, Fro?
