"First place fuckers."
I have always been a fan of Kyle Orton since his days at Purdue. In his senior year, he could of easily won the Heismann Trophy and being selected in the first round of the NFL Draft but ended up having a horrible knee injury that hurt his draft status. Thankfully, Jerry Angelo did not take his stupid pills that day and decided to take Orton in the fourth round anyways.
When Grossman was injured in the 2005 preseason for the 57th time, Orton was put in charge. The problem was that Ron Turner and Lovie Smith didn’t allow him to throw the ball more than five yards. This year, Orton has carried this team. In the losses with Carolina and Tampa Bay, he did overthrow a couple passes that could of easily been touchdowns and ones that would of put the game away. Combine that with the defense that has really sucked and blowing 4th quarter leads like the Chicago Bulls have done the last four years. He led this team to a sure win in Atlanta only to have the defense piss it away again. Disgusting.
Regardless, this team should be 7-0 right now. Yeah, I know. Would of. Could of. Should of. They are 4-3 and tied for first place with the NASCAR fans to the North. Luckily, a bye week is here so the Bears can rest their injured defense.

"Yeah buddy."

Orton is pretty damn awesome. It’s those 15+ yard passes that win football games. He is just getting better at those each game it seems. If he keeps doing that, then playoff football may once again be coming to Chicago. Nice to see the defense step up at the end too, though they nearly made it interesting. Some key plays from second and third string defenders really came through.
Pretty cool to see the Rays win the AL Championship. A 10-yrd old expansion franchise is now in the World Series. Hey Cubs, that is how it is done. Take notes. This Tampa team could win it all.
Good sports weekend for me, as my NIU Huskies laid some serious smackdown on their MAC nemesis, the University of Toledo Rockets.

Good job by Orton-balls are much more accurate and the receivers actually dropped two sure touchdowns yesterday. Bears may make playoffs in a weak division, but let’s not kid ourselves, this defense is not very good. If it wasn’t for two tremendous breaks on special teams, Bears lose yesterday.
ATTENTION CUBS: See Game 7 of the Rays game yesterday to LEARN how NOT TO CHOKE after a devastating loss!!! When Tampa blew a 7-0 lead late in Game 5, I thought they would choke. I mean, in my experience as a Cub fan, when the Cubs have heartbreaking losses in the playoffs (Game 4 against SD and Game 6 against the Fucklins), the Cubs just pack it in. After Game 6, it seemed impossible for Tampa to win last night. But they have some things the Cubs have never had-character, fortitude, the ability not to be overwhelmed by what seemed a rising tide against them, the ability to put the past behind them. That clearly means so much more than experience as Boston is cleaning out their lockers today, and the Cubs, well, we know about those douchenozzles. Congrats to Tampa, hope you win it all and shame these pathetic North Side losers even further.

in case you thought the Cubs would asoire to more than a division wiinner, we bring you 4 more years of Moe: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-081020-chicago-cubs-jim-hendry,0,455594.story

Hendry didn’t learn anything from watching the Marlins win it all, I doubt he’ll learn much from the Rays. His bad decisions have haunted the Cubs for awhile and it looks that may continue, for example Soriano will be hard to get rid of due to his bulging contract…and we all know how well he performs when the season is really on the line.
I still believe that the Cubbies have no chance of winning it all until the team is sold. Who gives a shit about what Crane Kenney thinks is good for the franchise…what the hell does he know?
On a positive note, it is great to see Orton developing. Wrecks was just too painful to watch.
October 20, 2008 at 4:03 pm
STUPID BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 22, 2008 at 7:01 am
Go Rays!! Let’s embarrass the living shit out of Moe Hendry, Assbag Zell, and the underachieving shitheads at Wrigley. And 4 more years of Moe? I feel like I did after the 2004 election- empty. Crane Kenney sucks goat balls.
October 22, 2008 at 8:27 am
MCM, I don’t believe the Rays winning the World Series will embarrass Hendry, Kenney, or any other top Cubs brass. If they aren’t already embarrassed (especially after the last two post season appearances),then nothing will embarrass them.
At this moment, I’M the one who’s embarrassed. Embarrassed to be a Cubs fan.
October 22, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Chucky, AMEN!!! And I’m sure you’re correct about the aforementioned dickheads!
October 22, 2008 at 6:30 pm
Agreed!
I’ll be surprised if the Cubs are sold in 2009. I wouldn’t mind seeing A-Ram, DP Lee, Soriano–or all of them–traded for some “value”.
Hendry should be let go/fired. The Tribune bastards are HORRIBLE.

Sorry to do this to you, genre:
Larry Rothschild, the Cubs’ pitching coach the last seven seasons, confirmed he will return next season. Despite speculation Rothschild might leave the organization, he is working on a multiyear deal that is expected to be completed in the next week or so. — Chicago Sun-Times
Excuse me while I projectile vomit. I’ll be back soon.
October 23, 2008 at 9:37 am
Damn. Bad news chucky.
Rothschild is a bum, as is Hendry, as is Baker. Those 3 did so much damage, at least Baker is gone.
The Cubbies are the most PATHETIC organization in pro sports, the owners should be proud.
Not sure how much longer I can pull for this team under current ownership. My boycott is still on (no Wrigley, no merch).
October 23, 2008 at 3:51 pm
I said it before; if Shitbag Zell keeps the team, or Selig’s lapdog buddy gets it, I’m done. Mark Cuban? I’ll hang in there a bit longer. Rottenchild and Moe Hendry can now get off their knees in front of Crane Kenney.

I did a complex computer program to determine the what ifs of the Cubs:
Q. What if the Cubs won the NLDS? A. They would then have got swept by the Phils
Q. What if the Cubs won the NLCS? A. They would have got swept by the Rays.
Q. What if the Cubs retain Hendry? A. They will never go to the World Series.

Look what frodog wrote in this thread after the Phillies split with the Cubs in August:
https://firedustybaker2.wordpress.com/2008/08/31/do-not-tell-me-to-calm-down/
Yes. The Phillies were the better team and it has proven to be true. In April, the Cubs lost 2 of 3 against them and the game they won was when DeRosa hit a homerun that was foul but called fair. In the series at Wrigley in August, the Cubs won the first two but Hamels was pulled early in the first game and a bad call by the ump gave the Cubs the second win.
This team was simply not good enough.

Go Cubs Go” Lyrics
By Chicago folk legend Steve Goodman.
—–
Baseball season’s underway
Well you better get ready for a brand new day
Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today.
They’re singing …
Go, Cubs, go
Go, Cubs, go
Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today
Go, Cubs, go
Go, Cubs, go
Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today.
They got the power, they got the speed
To be the best in the National League
Well this is the year and the Cubs are real
So come on down to Wrigley Field.
We’re singing now …
Go, Cubs, go
Go, Cubs, go
Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today
Go, Cubs, go
Go, Cubs, go
Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today.
Baseball time is here again
You can catch it all on WGN
So stamp your feet and clap your hands
Chicago Cubs got the greatest fans.
You’re singing now …
Go, Cubs, go
Go, Cubs, go
Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today
Go, Cubs, go
Go, Cubs, go
Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today.

I HATE THAT GODDAMNED SONG!
Whoever thought it would be a good idea to play that bullshit after every win should taken behind the barn and have a fucking bullet put in their head.
And to all the fucking SHEEP who sing that piece shit: FUCK YOU!
October 26, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Hey, I sing that song. And I’m not a sheep either. I think it was good for the fans, and I think it served as a motivator for the team, at least during most of the season. I will be happy to hear it again in April, so there.
And to the 2009 team:
GO CUBS GO,
BUT DON’T FUCKING CHOKE.
October 26, 2008 at 10:25 pm
Does anybody know the lyrics to “Wait Till Next Year”?
October 27, 2008 at 4:06 pm
We sucked-Fuck!
We didn’t suck, but we choked-Fuck!
Wait til next year
Repeat 101 times
October 27, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Ah yes, Nemo…Thanks for digging that up!
HA HA HA HA HA

How the hell do Hendry and Rothschild keep their jobs? They’re bums, I tell you!
If Soriano had played for me, I would have smacked that choker so hard he wouldn’t have been able to sit down for a week. Leadoff hitter, my ass.
If Piniella hasn’t totally lost his mind, he’ll give Hoffpauer an opportunity to win the 1B job from Derek Lee. How many double plays did that bum hit into in 2008?
Too bad A-Ram isn’t more like Manny, now there’s a money player.
The 2008 Cubbies were the most choking, pathetic, division winners I’ve ever witnessed.
Time to get rid of the weak-minded, sniveling garbage players, the bums that sit in the front office and the stinking miser Zell…and get some winners in place.
I’m sick and tired of “rolling over”, you sissie boy bums..play ball or get the hell out of Chicago!!! It’s only a game…so quit playing like frightened punks…dammit.
BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO
October 28, 2008 at 1:51 pm
…and by the way, Wrigley reminded me of a morgue after the Loney HR in Game 1, I should know. What the hell was that about? Sissie fans, too. In case you haven’t figured it out, there is no curse you damned fools! Just bad decisions by stupid people in positions of power. My friends, take that to the bank.
October 28, 2008 at 1:53 pm
…sorry, the bank was a bad idea.
