An open message to the Cubs marketing department:

Once and for all will you please GET RID OF THAT GODDAMNED 7th INNING STRETCH SINGING BULSHIT!!!!

I swear to fucking GOD that this is getting more and more painful to hear by the day. I like Michael J. Fox and everything he has done in bothhis career and for Parkinsons. But I’ll tell you this, I DON’T ENJOY LISTENING TO PEOPLE SING WHO CAN’T FUCKING SING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean no disrespect, but Harry Carey died ten years ago. This retarded tradition should have died with him.

There has to be some way to contact the Cubs and complain. I can’t take this anymore.

  2. Nemo Says:

The game is on my DVR but I don’t know that I will even watch-losing to fucking Jason Marquis!

  3. chucky Says:

Let me clue you in. DON’T WATCH THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was ugly, man. They made Marquis look like Tom fucking Seaver.

  4. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

This team isn’t going anywhere and I knew that way before the season even started. Big deal if they win the division or wild card. A better team will be waiting there for them. Crappy relievers, crappy bench and crappy general manager are just three reasons why this team will suck. I am just glad I only get to watch about half of the damn games this season.

  5. Dave Says:

I love how one loss completely influences the opinions of people on this site. It is physically impossible to win all the games. I’m gonna hold off on any complaining until the team is ACTUALLY in trouble.

  6. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

Dave, its not necessarily this one game. I agree that is impossible. Heck, it is really hard to win 90-95 games. They can win 10 games in a row starting today and I will still say this team isn’t good enough.

Genrebuster said it best: Until this team is sold and a new regime is in place, there is no reason to be excited.

  7. chucky Says:

Anybody else notice that the old site is gone now.

Kinda sad, in a way. To me, anyway.

  8. genrebuster Says:

chucky, regarding the old site: I did notice that a week ago and I agree, it is sad. That site was really kicking ass at one time.

I had not blogged anywhere prior to getting involved with the “original” I visited the site for a couple of weeks, finally got the nerve to post and soon became a regular.

There were some great rants as well as great baseball discussion. Lots of humor, too. It was cool getting perspective from fans who have been following the Cubs years longer than me…as well as younger or “newer” fans. There was never a shortage of intensity. Irrevence? Hell yeah…but WHAT THE FUCK, JAGOFFS!?! There’s nothing to revere about 100+ years of LOSING.

As I’ve stated before: PATHETIC. barf. tick tock…

Sad to say, I don’t feel as inclined to post “tick tock…” …it’s not that I don’t care if the Cubs win or lose…but it’s not as much fun to follow this team now. 100 years has come and gone.

I’m sure I’ll be more hopeful/interested once the new owner is in place…even if that doesn’t work well long term, the Tribune must go. They arethe bottom feeders…the lowest of the low….the stench of those bums is unbearable, for crying out loud. I still believe that the Cubs are going NOWHERE until new ownership is in place and puts their own stamp on the team.

Trust me: I would love to be wrong on that: if the Cubs pull it off this year, I’ll be very happy. But I’m inclined to agree with MattStairs: Big deal if they win the division or wild card. A better team will be waiting there for them. Crappy relievers, crappy bench and crappy general manager are just three reasons why this team will suck.”

Watching the Cubs perform so poorly in the playoffs 2 YEARS IN A ROW spoke volumes (to me). What reason is there to believe that the mindset, the “culture of losing” will change? Maybe somebody will step up and lead this team…when it really matters…but I’m not holding my breath.

As for Jim Hendry, I fully expect to run into him later this afternoon when I go to negotiate a new car lease…or buy a used car, whatever makes more sense (for me). I’ll bring my electric shaver with me, just in case. FIRE JIM HENDRY.

I hope bobbyd (the owner of the old site) is ok. I’ve wondered if something bad happened to him…I tried e-mailing him a couple of times and he didn’t respond, as he had in the past when I contacted him on a couple of occasions. For a long time he did a great job keeping that site moving…until he “disappeared”.

Again, I would like to offer my sincere Thanks to Fro Dog — for starting this site — as well as “the refugees” who migrated here and continue to post, KSMC for helping Fro Dog administer it…and all the newcomers who keep it going.

I hope we can all celebrate a Cubs WS Championship soon!

And to those of you who still don’t get it: baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  9. Dave Says:

I have to say I am liking Soriano taking the walks, that is just great. He is extremely disciplined at the moment. And I also loving seeing Fukudome hitting the ball and hitting it hard. After the 3 run homer today he now leads the team with 8 RBIs. I know the team has collapsed in the playoffs in back to back years, that is a huge problem. But still, the Cubs are showing life in the early going, and that is what I like to see. This is why I will save most of my complaining until they are REALLY in trouble.

LMAO at Cardinals defensive miscues in the bottom 6th inning.

  10. genrebuster Says:

Dave, I do appreciate your positive attitude. We’ll see how it all unfolds, that’s why they play the game!

  11. ksmc2000 Says:

We certainly had some great times on the old site genre. It was my first attempt at blogging on there also. I remember when I finally got the nerve to post, I immediately got hammered by one of the regulars. He said that if everybody else just ignored me, maybe I’ll just go away.

I didn’t see the game on Thursday, but I saw that our new RF got squeezed by the home plate umpire on a 3-2 count with the bases loaded and got ejected.

  12. genrebuster Says:

ksmc, I remember getting into it with Kirk about something early on….it got very heated! Something about “rose colored glasses, grey areas”, etc. As time passed, the tone changed….and as far as I’m concerned, we became friendly allies in the fight against 99, and then 100 years of mediocrity, losing and all things PATHETIC related to the Cubs organization.

…(I believe Kirk was the 1st to post that, it wasn’t me).
