Hey all, Sad to report that I did not run into Jim Hendry yesterday while shopping for a car. Maybe because I only looked at new ones? I will bring a scissors and a bowl with me today, just in case…I figure a Moe Howard cut should suit him well.
I’m going to the Saturday game!!! I won them at a bar I was at tonight, (Fatty’s Pub in Dekalb) with help from my friend. The question was, “Who was the Cubs catcher in 1984?” He said it was Jody Davis. My friend couldn’t go, but he gave the other ticket to my fiancee. Upper deck boxes, section 467, row 5, seat 104-105. Hope to see Ryan Dempster strike some motherfuckers out.
Ugly game turns into an ugly win. Yeah Cotts sucks, but good showings by Gregg and Guzman. Soriano continues to load up on walks which is good. I’m glad I went to the game, and I had great seats. I almost purchased tickets for Sunday from a scalper, but decided against it due to personal economic reasons. Oh well, I’ll be tuned in to ESPN tomorrow night. Another cold game with Lily on the mound. Sounds like a recipe for a win.
Dear Zell: I — along with Dave and many others — would like to apply for an economic bailout so that we may start attending Cubs games on a more regular basis.
Furthermore, we vow to purchase many concessions and merchandise…do whatever possible to rid the “friendly confines” of sheeple. The “culture of losing” must be eliminated or the Cubs will never win. Let us not forget, the sheeple play a part in sustaining this PATHETIC culture… (horrible… horrible… horrible).
As current co-owner of the Cubs it’s the least you can do for us long-suffering, ever faithful fans.
I eagerly await your instructions and will have my agent respond respond at his earliest convenience. Respectfully yours, genrebuster, esq.
Glad you had fun. Next time you come to town, let me know. I am not a drinker but I can still have a coke at Fatty’s with you. That is the only fun place to go these days in Dekalb except Pizza Pros at 2:00 in the morning.
I’m in the Dekalb area until NIU Final exams, then I’ll be there off and on during the summer. Well, I’m glad I did not purchase tickets for tonight since there will be no game anyway. Bullpen needs a day off as well. Genre, an economic bailout is a walk off grand slam of an idea. I shall definitely apply if such a thing becomes possible. Hopefully I can attend more games this year after I get some employment. My record at Wrigley is 1 and 4, with overall 2 and 4, the other of which was a road game in which big Z threw the no-no. It would be nice to see more home wins of course.
Look for Cubs pitching to get lots of strikeouts as Reds hitters will be swinging aggressively. “Dude, I like to see my horses take their swings. Otherwise they’re just clogging up the bases. Is Neifi still suspended?”
“When a cat ran onto the field during the fourth inning, delaying the game for several minutes, WGN-TV cameras panned to former Cubs star Ron Santo in the broadcast booth. Back in 1969, a black cat crossed Santo’s path at Shea Stadium and Chicago went on to squander a huge division lead to the Mets — an enduring symbol of the Cubs’ futile century.”
Please: SHUT THE FUCK UP. I am tired of hearing about — and reading this bullshit.
Good win tonite, how about a bouquet of toothpicks for Dusty?
Dude, y’all beat me tonight. But my horses are gonna make it harder for you next time. Where is Neifi and Bynum? Those Cub hitters are way too conservative at the plate. Don’t they know that walks clog the bases? We’ll get them tomorrow. I’m bringing the old Big Red Machine back!
Always nice to see Douchebag and the boys from the city of crappy chili tank one against the Cubs. Keith, did you try the Schlitz? I put a good dent in a 12-pack last night! Genre, welcome back! I’ll take some of that stimulus money as well thank you very much! Does anybody else miss Dustfuck and his merry band of fuckups (Neifi, Freddy Fuckhead Bynum, Latoya Hawkins, Jackoff Jones, KKKKory, Pussy Prior-who am I missing?) as much as I do? Didn’t think so!
Samardzija will be back for Thursdays game, and Vizcaino will likely be released. How the fuck Cotts dodged this bullet I’ll never know.
Cueto pitched well on Wednesday proving why so many people are so high on him. He was due to have a good game against the Cubs. They roughed him up pretty good last year.
Glad you guys enjoyed the video. She brings the term “taking one for the team” to a whole new level.
So let me get this straight…Marquis gets traded for Vizcaino and he is about to get released? If that ends up being true, what a waste of time. Looks like we don’t need the pitching.
By the way…Freddie Bynum was like that kid who sucked but still got to play in little league all the time because his dad was the coach. Dusty treated him like his own kid.
I never had a problem with Marquis. So what if he was useless in the playoffs? He kept the team in the game and was able to get at least a .500 record during the regular season. He is probably one of the best in his category of number 4-5 starters which you don’t expect much from anyway. When he beat us last Wednesday, it showed. He doesn’t go deep into games, but he’ll usually give you 6 innings. Bad move trading Marquis.
Cotts and Howry= Meet the new boss…Same as the old boss.
This team will not win a goddamn thing this year. I’m not counting the division title either. This division blows. They may run away with the division by late August.
Of course if I’m wrong I’ll be right back here admitting to it. But I don’t think I’ll have to.

I heard one baseball insider say that this Cub team is WORSE than last years! Though it’s too early to really know much at this point – I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if the Cubs finished in third place, behind St. Louis and Cincinnati this year.
They have no pitching (Zambrano remains a mental case), they have no hitting (Bradley is a mental case), and they have no GM or Manager (Lou, “whata want me to do” Pinella). What a joke of a franchise!
Is there a reason Micah “useless piece of shit ” Hoffpauir is starting in the right? Goddamnit, if Bradley is injured, it should be Soriano in left, Johnson in center, and Fukudome in right. What the fuck is Lou thinking? Is he just too fucking drunk to figure this shit out?
FroDog…You’re right, man. This shit is just too frustrating to deal with anymore. What fucking bullshit.
So simple…and it makes sense. But NOTHING will happen–NOTHING — until the Cubs are sold.”
You are so right, Genre! But it goes even further than that. This franchise needs a complete fumigation! The stench of losing starts from the front office through the players on the field, to the manager, and throughout their minor league system.
They are piss poor in scouting talent, player development, and measuring talent according to need and the kind of stadium they play in.
If they get an owner who has a clue, then he will begin the house cleaning with Hendry all the way down to their scouting and player development. He will hire good baseball people to take care of baseball affairs, and he will get out of their way and let them do their job.
The one guy we had who was beginning that very process was Dallas Green.
Who they finally get as owner will tell us a lot about what the future holds for this miserable laughstock of a franchise. I think FroDog would agree with me there.
While I could continue my boycott against the current owners of the most futile franchise in sports history I am going to see the Cubs play next week. Soriano finally doing a decent lead-off hitting job and nobody in the rest of the lineup backs him up. This offense can’t sleep a third time in a row, can it?
I get such a kick listening to Boers and Bernstein on the Score every afternoon, except when they have a Sux game on. Those 2 clowns (who I actually enjoy listening to most of the time) already have the Cubs winning the division just because the rest of the division sucks. Well, it does suck, but you still have to play the games! Not panicking, really.
But to date, I am not impressed with the late inning relief. I predict “unhappy 102”.
Thoughts?
April 22, 2009 at 11:43 pm
Our offense should have got things going. Bullpen kept the game close. Solo homers usually don’t win ballgames unless your offense is asleep.
Pathetic.
