Also, this question is for reader Dave:  When are you coming back to Dekalb? Next time you are in town, let me know and I’ll see if I can catch up for a little bit. It’s been a while since I had a burger at Fatty’s.

  1. Dave Says:

I’m in Dekalb every weekend with my fiancee. However I haven’t been going to my favorite bar and grill in the world very much because I smiply am broke and unemployed. That is why I am heading back into the military after a year and a half break in service. Perhaps before I leave for Air Force Officer Training School, I can hit up Fatty’s one last time.

  2. genrebuster Says:

Words of wisdom from Lou: “You never know. You don’t like to see anybody get fired. Riggleman’s … an experienced guy [but] sometimes it takes a while,” Piniella said.”

Correct. In fact, sometimes it takes 101 years (and counting) to win a World Series…or 64 (and counting) to play in one!

Dave, I hope all goes well for you in Air Force Officer Training School….these are tough times (for many of us) for sure.

  3. genrebuster Says:

Wowie Zowie…Milton Bradley is most excellent at breaking bats over his thigh when he strikes out…I am truly impressed!

  4. jimmyd Says:

    Genre,

If you noticed, that piece of excrement couldn’t even do that right. What a total waste of a roster spot for a real ball player. $10 Million a year for a left handed bat that is currently below .200 for the year against right handed pitching. Fucking overpaid LOSER!!! And, a headcase to boot.

    Jimmy D.

  5. chucky Says:

Yeah Jimmy, he does suck massive ass. May I throw Kevin Gregg on the totally useless list as well?

Thanks for fucking it all up, Hendry. You have secured your very own wing in the Bonehead Hall of Fame, you stupid dumb fuck.

  6. erniesarmy Says:

Hey, the Cubs have won 3 in a row, going for the 4 game sweep tomorrow!

Oops, I forgot, they’re not playing a major league baseball team. Oh well, at least the sheepie will be happy, they must be peeing in their panties over this.

My prediction: Cubs finish 09 in fourth place.

  7. Dave Says:

Ernie, you’re right. Not a real big league ball club. Now if they put up these numbers against the very scary WS Champion Phillies, then I’ll be impressed. Still it is nice to see a 4-game sweep. It appears Soriano is about to go on one of his unpredictable streaks.

Kevin Gregg has not blown a save in a while, and though he made the game interesting the other night, we still won. I refuse to throw him under the bus.

Man, if Kevin Hart can learn some more control and keep the walks down, he could be a great pitcher. He seems made for a starting role.

  8. erniesarmy Says:

Dave – “Now if they put up these numbers against the very scary WS Champion Phillies, then I’ll be impressed. ”
    …………………………..

Yeah, I would agree with you on that, Dave. Although I am sticking to my prediction of 4th place.

But, you know what, of all the teams that the Cubs have had throughout their failed playoff runs from 1969 till now, this team is the most unlikeliest of all to be successful, and wouldn’t it be just like the Cubs, for this team to go all the way? HA! The sheepie would come roaring in here and kick all our butts!

Of course, I wouldn’t care, I’d gladly take all of their abuse, and “I told you sos,” for a WS tItle anyday.

  9. genrebuster Says:

Piniella sat slumping OF Milton Bradley. “I had a nice talk with him today, and tomorrow we’ll start working on some things that I think will help him,” Piniella said. (end of http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=290719120)

A bus ticket out of town might be helpful, yes?

As for the 4-game sweep against the Triple A Nationals (uh, sorry): Happy to see the Cubs begin the “2nd half” in a positive manner.

REALITY CHECK: The Nationals are now 26-65, a full 10 games WORSE than the next “Worst” team!

FACT: Cubs have picked up a game and a half on the Cards, only 2 back…but the Brewers, Astros and Reds are right behind them.

OPINION: This Central division is completely up for grabs.

    QUESTIONS:

    1. How much longer does the Milton Bradley experiment continue? I think Milton may have replaced Jackoff Jones as my most despised player on the Cubs in recent years…or am I forgetting somebody more “worthy”?

    2. Will Carlos Marmol ever get it together? I watched his inning yesterday and it was painful. Gregg looked good by comparison, at least he didn’t blow the save.

    3. 2 weeks is up….has the sale gone through?

We’ll learn something about this Cubs team over the next 3 games w/ Philly. And then Dusty returns to Wrigley Stadium….fun, fun, fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Sheeple: You may begin texting anytime. Don’t forget to sign off with “BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA”.

    tick tock…

  10. erniesarmy Says:

Genre – “Milton may have replaced Jackoff Jones as my most despised player on the Cubs in recent years…or am I forgetting somebody more “worthy”?”
    ……………………………….

    Neifi Perez gets my vote!

  11. genrebuster Says:

Ernie, Jackie’s attitude was horrible, just like Milton…that’s why I put him above Neifi. Yes, Neifi stunk up the joint day after day but Dusty the buffoon was the one playing him…

That said, if Neifi had a bad attitude, too…then I stand corrected, “dude”….HA!

  12. ksmc2000 Says:

At least Jackass Jones hit 28 homers in his first season, and killed many worms with his five foot throws back to the infield. I would have to say that Hendry really outdid himself with the Bradley signing. He signed him for twice of the bad Jones contract was worth.

I think the first order of business after Rickett’s takes over is to have a “Hendry Demolition Night” by blowing his fatass up in centerfield after a night game.

  13. rober Says:

does anyone realize jake fox has 2 less rbis than milton bradley

  14. Sandberg23 Says:

And only one less homer and is batting almost 90 pts higher than him. I say screw sitting him for a couple days. How about a week to 2 weeks! Lets see what Fox can do playing full time out in Right in that time. Hell can Fox play 2nd too?? LOL

  15. genrebuster Says:

Bradley has his 30 million dollars….let’s make him the highest paid triple A player ever…that would be a real feather in Hendry’s cap.

  16. Sandberg23 Says:

Genre. Yeah that would be great wouldn’t it. Send the bastard down to the minors. I’m just waiting for him to injure himself tying to break the bat over his leg. That would be the best news the Cubs could ask for at this point. He gets hurt so we don’t have to see Lou and his sidekick Hendry shoving him down everyone’s throats anymore.

  17. rober Says:

when aram got hurt someone asked carrie muskatt why fox was not bought up she said cause he would be a nightmare at third base yeah he looks bad there

  18. genrebuster Says:

Sandberg, agreed. Maybe he’ll punch a wall or something…my suggestion is that he try breaking the bat on his head.

As for Muskrat, maybe she can apply for the GM job when the Hendry ass-licking has been completed.

  19. MadCityMac Says:

Guys, LaToya Hawkins is always going to be one of my most hated Cubs of all time. I think it was ’04, September, and I’m at a tailgate party before a Badger game, a bunch of us are listening to the Cubs and Mets on the radio; that useless piece of shit blows the game and the season, pretty much. Freddie “Fuckhead” Bynum has to garner a few votes as well!

  20. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

LaToilet was awful that whole year. It didn’t have to be that way though. Dust-muffin put him in that position to fail.

“Dude, who else am I suppose to put out there in the closer role. I mean. Dude. LaTroy is our guy.”

Moving on though…This 4-game winning streak doesn’t prove anything more than what we already know. They beat a bunch of minor league players with Dunn in the mix. Now before the sheeple come in to rebuttal this comment, I will say yes…the games still count in the standings. We will find out how this team is against a real team these next few games.

  21. chucky Says:

Jesus fucking Christ!!!! Nice fucking catch Sorry-asshole!!! At least do SOMETHING to try and earn that goddamned $100 million+ contract you stupid retarded cocksucker!!!

And while I’m at it….FUCK YOU JIM FUCKING HENDRY!!!!!

  22. erniesarmy Says:

Hey, Chucky, you aren’t angry are you? : )

What a pathetic baseball team, and Soriano was mad because Louie wasn’t going to play him when he wanted to play. Play him? How bout play him down in Iowa!

Hendry’s most prestigious signing. What a GM we got fellas.

I think my prediction of 4th place is on pretty safe ground.

  23. chucky Says:

    Just a little Ernie.

    Correction…..I’M FUCKING PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. erniesarmy Says:

    Chucky, or anybody –

Could you please explain to me why anybody in that clubhouse, or frontoffice, would want to keep that piece of crap on this team? I saw the replay of that dropped ball, he just nonchalantly stuck his glove out there and dropped it. His hot dogging routine out there is bush league! He is not a professional baseball player, he’s a circus clown! No, I take that back, Ringling Bros. would never hire him, he’d forget his cue.

I’ve had enough of this bum! Come on Cubs, just admit you made a mistake, eat the rest of his salary, and dump him. He’s a cancer in the clubhouse, an overrated hitter, and a moron on defense. If some fool wants to make a trade for him, then do it! Take whatever they offer and be grateful.

  25. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

I am sure a lot of us here played little league and some of us here probably even played some college or minor leagues…but weren’t we taught to catch the ball with two hands? Get under the ball, with your throwing hand behind the webbing of the glove?

Basic fundamentals. Oops. I forgot though. The last two managers we have had have the inability to go over that.

  26. Dave Says:

Wow, what a good old fashioned ass whipping that was! Even if by any chance the Cubs DO make the playoffs and miraculously get past the first round, those damn Phillies are guaranteed to make it there too, and they will destroy the Cubs!

    Meh. Whatever. SOS.

FINISH THE SALE AND START TAKING OUT THE GARBAGE!!

  27. genrebuster Says:

Well, it’s only one game–as the sheeple like to say–but what a reality check! Do you think the Phillies are better than the Nationals?

    HA HA HA HA HA

I am so sick of SorryONo and Bradley and what they stand for. Really nice centerpiece Hendry! That one would look great on Dusty’s Thanksgiving table, you stinking bum.

Message to the Cubs: It’s been 101 FUCKING YEARS since you won a World Series. THINK ABOUT IT.

    tick…tock…tick tock…tick tock…

    PATHETIC.

    Chucky, or anybody –

Could you please explain to me why anybody in that clubhouse, or frontoffice, would want to keep that piece of crap on this team?

I can’t Ernie. I have no explanation to give you. I went completely insane after he dropped that routine fly ball trying to hot dog it. The most pathetic part is that we’re stuck with this shit-for-brains grinning idiot for about another 5 years. They won’t just cut him, and team in their right mind will take him. Hendry has done an excellent job at completely fucking this team up. Fucking incompatant asshole GM.

And Yeti, by the way, the Cubs are DOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMED!!!!!!

  29. chucky Says:

and no team in their right mind. Sorry, I have had my coffee yet.

  30. Sandberg23 Says:

Man I wanted to go on here a rip the shit out of Soriano but you guys have taken the words right out of my mouth. He is by far the dumbest baseball player I have ever seen play in my life. He’s got all the talent in the world but he gets in his own way all the time, by playing with no fundamentals at all, that’s with the bat as well. Not to mention he never hustles on anything. Matt Stairs you got it right, use two hands to catch a damn ball. If he’s that stupid and doesn’t realize that then somebody fucking show him how. He’s got 8 errors already!! That is horrendus for an outfielder to have that many errors at this point in the season. And Lou is thinking about putting him at 2nd. Are you fucking crazy!! He would make 50 over there. They screwed themselves with this signing and the only way they can trade him is for another bad contract. Maybe they should get ahold of the Giants and see if they would be willing to trade Zito for him.

  31. genrebuster Says:

I have an idea: Trade Bradley for “a bag of shells”….

  32. genrebuster Says:

chucky, no apology necessary….your post made perfect sense to me, even if the grammar/spelling wasn’t perfect….sorry Mitch (but who cares about that?).

Too bad the idiots in charge don’t get it.

  33. erniesarmy Says:

    Chucky, Sandberg, and Genre –

Although I know it doesn’t make good business sense, but what would be so wrong for them to admit they made a huge error in signing both Soriano (“the grinning idiot”), and Bradley (the scowling idiot), and DFA both of them? They lose lots of money, I realize that, but the clubhouse, and the fans would thank them for it, and that might give them a better chance of actually making the playoffs this year. It would also give them a better chance of doing something positive in the playoffs for a change.

I know you guys don’t know anymore than I do, but I do hope if, and when, the Ricketts take over this trainwreck of a franchise, that they find some way of cutting their ties to these two morons.

  34. erniesarmy Says:

Eh, why gripe about something that ain’t gonna happen …..

Typical Cubs, they give you a tiny bit of hope, and then dash it on the rocks.

Tick…tock… 101 years, hah, how bout 130 years!!!!!!!!!

  35. chucky Says:

    Ernie

My guess is they are trying to save face, hoping that they will eventually snap out of it. The only problem with that is it will never work. I also think the collective egos in the front office will NEVER admit to making a mistake. Even when a blind person could see what a monumental mistake those two are proving to be.

Just a thought. By the way, I think 130 years might too optimistic.

  36. erniesarmy Says:

Chucky – ” By the way, I think 130 years might too optimistic.”
    …………………………………..

Sigh. As much as I want to believe otherwise, you’re probably right.

  37. chucky Says:

    I’m with you there, Ernie.

  38. Christopher Kinney Says:

Maybe Samardzija should have played football. Fucking cocksucker. The Cubs will lose tomorrow as well. Wow, what a great fucking road trip. Win the first four and lose the last three. And I am tired of Len Casper trying to sugarcoat everything. This Cubs team is a fucking racket.

  39. erniesarmy Says:

I don’t blame Samardzija for this, I blame that pathetic offense!

Samardzija probably said: “Heh, our offense couldn’t hit the ball if the Phillies placed it on a tee! I’m tired, the whole pitching staff is tired – here Wertz, a big fat one, let’s see if you can hit it out. Oh, you can. Fine, we can all go home now.”

They could have played 10 more innings and the Cubs still wouldn’t have scored! If I was a member of that pitching staff I’d be ready to take a baseball bat to that offense. At least they would get hits!

  40. erniesarmy Says:

They might as well shut Ramirez down for the remainder of the season, he looks lost up there.

If I was the Cub GM, the first thing I would do is fire Hendry, then, I would offer my entire starting lineup as trade bait, except for Fududome (because he is a good defensive outfielder, and can give you a little offense), Theriot (Put him on second base, and he’ll be alright), and Soto (He’s too young to give up on). That’s right, I would include Derek Lee and Aramis Ramirez as well – if they take one of those guys, then they have to take either Soriano or Bradley in the deal.

This offense needs a heart transplant in a hurry. I would rather have Fuld, Fox, and Hoffpauer in there, at least they have a future.

  41. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

What a PATHETIC (I am stealing that from you Genre) team effort.

This team kind of reminds me of the 04 team. Sooner or later, you are going to see punks like Bradley or Sorianus calling the booth and bitching at Brenly for saying they are selfish little shits.

If anybody read Dave’s last comment, he hit right on the head and I will say it as well:

“FINISH THE SALE AND TAKE OUT THE GARBAGE.”

  42. ksmc2000 Says:

What could have been a great road trip will wind up being mediocre at best. I didn’t get too excited with the sweep of the Nats with the World Champs waiting in the wings. It’s just as well if the Cubs don’t make the playoffs. The Dodgers or Phillies would just kick their asses out of the first round again anyway. This Cub team will only get worse from here. The team to watch out for in the Central is Houston. They are quietly sneaking up on the rest. If they get any pitching at all, with their offense, they will be tough.

  43. genrebuster Says:

Matt, please continue to use “PATHETIC” as much as you’d like, I’d like to hear 40,000 at Wrigley Stadium break into a chant….

On a positive note Harden pitched well again. As for Samardzija, maybe next time he’ll remember that walks will kill you 9 times out of 10.

Check this out (on ESPN’s online game summary tonite): “We’re challenged offensively,” Cubs manager Lou Piniella said. “You don’t score runs, you don’t win no matter how good you pitch. I’ll tell you what. We might need a couple of hitters at the [trade] deadline.”

Might? hey, here’s an idea for you idiots in the front office: Get rid of Milton Bradley. He’s a stinking bum. I would love to see Soriano go, he’s another selfish hot dog that doesn’t come through when it really matters. In fact, (like Ernie) I wouldn’t be heartbroken to see A-Ram or Lee go, too IF the Cubs get players of value in return. And YES, I would love to see some of the younger guys get more playing time.

Dave sure did sum it up extremely well.

Look, I know this is redundant: SELL THE FUCKING CUBS and FIRE JIM HENDRY already. That should be the easy part, it will take awhile to get rid of all the garbage.

So many people are having a really hard time right now making ends meet in these challenging times…it really pisses me off that these high-paid losers continue to have such lucrative jobs. From the front office to the playing field, there are far too many stinking bums laughing all the way to the bank. I hope they all choke on their cash.

As for entertainment value, let’s not forget that this is professional sports we’re talking about. If anybody in the audience thinks that being entertained by perennial losers trumps winning a championship, then they have never WON anything.

All kidding aside, I am sick of it. LOSERS. What a PATHETIC franchise. It will truly be a MIRACLE if this Cubs team wins it all this year…I’m sure as hell not betting on it. What damned fool would?

My Cubs jacket is back in the closet until there is a change in direction. I’m not advertising MEDIOCRITY (or is that too generous).

    blah blah blah.

One more time: SELL THE CUBS. FIRE JIM HENDRY.

  44. Sandberg23 Says:

Ernie – “They could have played 10 more innings and the Cubs still wouldn’t have scored!” That made me laugh there cause I was just telling someone not long ago that they could have played 30 innings last night and the Cubs still would have only scored 1 run. How about instead of DFAing Soriano and Bradley why don’t Lou grow a pair and just bench both of them and start Hoffpauir and Fox. Let them bastard’s fester and get pissed sitting on the bench. If you DFA them then they just go to another team and they still get paid all that dough by the Cubs. I say let them rott on the bench. See what Fox and Hoff can do in the meantime. Hell they can’t do any worse. Fox goes 3-4 with a homer and 4 rbi and then sits the bench the next two days. Does that make any fucking sense???

  45. erniesarmy Says:

Sandberg – “How about instead of DFAing Soriano and Bradley why don’t Lou grow a pair and just bench both of them and start Hoffpauir and Fox. Let them bastard’s fester and get pissed sitting on the bench. If you DFA them then they just go to another team and they still get paid all that dough by the Cubs. I say let them rott on the bench.”
    …………………………………….

I like that idea, but you have to have a manager with guts, unfortunately Uncle Louies is getting fitted for pink house slippers for his retirement. Piniella could care less right now, he just wants to play out the season so he can go fishing.

  46. Sandberg23 Says:

You’re right Ernie. I’m just hoping at some point Lou snaps and basically tells everybody to screw off in the organization and starts running the team how he wants to run it and not based off who makes the most money on the team should be on the field.

SHOW DA FIRE AND PASSION, MY FRENDT!
