It’s time.

Your thoughts on the Bears/Packers game this Sunday and anything else football.

In my opinion, this division could be the toughest in the conference. The Packers seem like the team to beat. The offense looks good and that should help the defense unlike in years past because the defense will likely have more rest with Cutler driving the offense down the field.

One last thing: Congrats to Robert for his team, the Steelers for winning Thursday night. It was a fun game to watch.

After a really shitty baseball season, is there anything better than the start of the NFL season? Congrats also Robert; gotta hurt seeing Troy Polamalu (did I spell that right?) go down for 3-6 weeks though. Damn he was flying around until the injury! And I just can’t fault Hines for that fumble; I think anybody would have tried to get into the end zone on that play. Titans sure stuffed the Steelers running game; ouch! I think Mendenhall is going to be a stud though.

But even more importantly, I can’t wait for Sunday night. Any of you that know me know I’m a Packer fan, but it’s going to be a hell of a game; 2 of the best young QBs in the game; if the Bears come up with some recievers beside the tight ends, this is going to be interesting. And go Browns! Put that cracker-ass hillbilly on his ass where he belongs!

    Mike,

I am pumped about this upcoming season. If Favre hasn’t already screwed up the chemistry, all three teams could make the playoffs.

It looks from what I am reading that Rodgers is going to have a big year you guys. That’s why I am lucky there are two wild card spots for the Bears to get. This season opener should be fun to watch.

  3. MadCityMac Says:

Fro, everything I keep hearing from the national guys is that they think all 3 teams will make the playoffs; funny thing is, I haven’t heard anybody lately saying the Vikings are going to much of anything. I think the hillbilly is already ruining team chemistry. Sounds like there are guys on that team that are still pissed about the way he just waltzed in without having to go thru training camp, not to mention the guys who are friends with either Rosenfels or Jackson. Let’s face it, Childress is desperate. Vikings fail this year he’s out of a job. I just love the way Favre is all of a sudden trying to cover his ass in case he fails; all the excuses and outs such as ‘my ribs hurt”. If he wasn’t such a diva and a drama queen, I probably wouldn’t this down on him. Oh wait, just the fact that he’s a Vi-queen is enough for me to hate him! The thing I’ve noticed is that Bear fans and Packer fans are passionate about their teams and we can all get along; Viking fans are just annoying, whining douchebags and it’s fun pissing them off!

  4. MadCityMac Says:

BTW, who do the Illini get this Saturday? Badgers got Fresno State, and have been battling a flu bag on the UW campus all week.

  5. Fro Dog Says:

    Mike,

Vikings fans in general are morons. It’s almost like they are their own breed. Packer fans like yourself, Ernie, and even JimmyD, I can get actually have a conversation with without being ignorant.

The Illini play Illinois State this weekend. They are not even a Division I team. After watching the game against Missouri last weekend, I am not even excited anymore. This team blows and that includes the shitty quarterback.

Speaking of Fresno State, Illinois has to play them towards the end of the season. Not good.

  6. jimmy d Says:

    Fro,

“and even JimmyD”??? What’s up with that?

    Later,
    Jimmy D.

  7. Fro Dog Says:

    JimmyD,

I thought you were a Packers fan?

Anyway, if you are, I was saying that if I talked football with you, you wouldn’t be like a Vikings fans. Packer fans, I can actually talk to and they aren’t ass wipes. I was complimenting you, Mike and Ernie.

  8. Fro Dog Says:

    Jimmy D,

A follow up to my last post. I noticed why you asked me that. The “even” portion was not intended to be offensive in anyway. I usually type pretty quickly and without proof-reading at times so that should clarify it.

No offense intended. It was my bad. I am sure you know I am not like that. No hard feelings.

The football season couldn’t have come at a better time. The Cubs have pissed me off so much, I can’t even watch those clowns anymore. The only player that has earned his paycheck all year is D-Lee. Fro, sorry about not starting many baseball threads lately, but I must have been bit by the same Fuck-the-Cubs bug that you were.

It should be a wild ride in the NFC North this season. Hopefully Turner will utilize Cutlers strenghths with the play calling. Cutlers ability to keep the chains moving will be a big help to the defense. Last year the defense couldn’t seem to stay off the field long enough to catch a break. By the 4th quarter they were spent.

From what I saw in pre-season, my biggest concern is with the secondary. These guys need to do a better job of covering the recievers and the open field tackling sucked. This will probably be the year Mike Brown stays healthy and goes to the Pro Bowl.

  10. Fro Dog Says:

    Keith,

Brown isn’t on the team anymore. In fact, I don’t think anybody picked him up.

But yes. The secondary does blow. Does anybody feel great with Tillman, Vasher and Manning playing in the secondary?

    Scary.

As far as the threads are concerned, no worries man. I figured you were busy with work anyway. Thanks again for at least taking care of the job. Feel free to write an article anytime.

    Fro Dog,

Just a little friendly jab. Yes, I am a Packer fan. No, I didn’t take offense by your comment; I just had to make sure. I didn’t think I had ever been an “ass wipe” when chatting about the Pack in the past.

I’m looking forward to the game tomorrow night. I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to go to it or not. It’s going to be a great night, but I’m not sure that I want to get home around midnight, or so, because the next morning me and 3 of my buds are leaving at 9:00 a.m. to head to Chicago for the evening Cubs game. When I locked up those tickets against the Brewers before the season began, I was positive that the game would have some meaning. But, after the stretch in August, it means nada.

    Later,
    Jimmy D.

  12. erniesarmy Says:

Sorry, Fro, gotta go with my Packers in this one.

    Packers 31 Bears 24

Let’s see how my predictions work with football.

  13. Fro Dog Says:

    Ernie,

I must say I have heard about your predictions. Therefore, I won’t be surprised by anything you say.

That being said, it wouldn’t surprise me if your Packers won. They are the team to beat. I think you and I are going to have a few friendly arguments this year.

  14. ksmc2000 Says:

    Fro,

I knew that the Bears didn’t sign Mike Brown. They didn’t want to take a chance with his injury history. The Chiefs picked him up. His leadership will be missed.

I’ll be at a party in Oshkosh for the game on Sunday night. Everyone that will be there are Bear fans with the exception of one Packer fan, and one Chiefs fan. It should be a great game. Does anybody know what the spread is on this game?

  15. Fro Dog Says:

    Keith,

I was just making sure that you knew about it just in case.

I think the Packers were three point favorites.

Also, this is for anybody outside of Illinois that wants to watch a future Bears game or any sporting event live on their computer. I have a couple websites with a YouTube stream format and another website with some software that you can download. If any of you guys want the links, just let me know and I will email it to you.

  16. jimmy d Says:

    BOOYAH!!!!!!

  17. Dave Says:

Inexperience among the receivers makes Mr. Franchise look like Mr. Grossman. I did enjoy watching Aaron Rodgers clean the turf out of his face though. Good blitzing, but very questionable in the secondary.

Next game vs. the World Champion Steelers, the Bears could easily go 0-2 to start this.

SHOW DA FIRE AND PASSION, MY FRENDT!
