Next week: Bears first preseason game and the release of Madden NFL 11. I downloaded the demo for the PS3 and I must say, it’s a huge upgrade and a lot less complicated from last year’s. Two thumbs up.

  1. Carl from Chicago Says:

Hey Fro this is Carl from over at Fire Ron Turner. Great site and keep up the good work after 2+ years.

Too bad you still are looking at Hendry as Cubs manager really he is probably one of the all time worst in Chicago sports history and that is saying something. Who would have believed that the only move he’d make in the last couple of years that worked was trading Bradley for a pitcher who came back to life.

You have some good stuff here and are sure to attract some haters as you go after them. Good times.

  2. hendrySWALLOWS Says:

I suggest trying the new football game named “BackBreaker” not sure if its available for ps3 , i have xbox360, it is really good , allot of unique views which makes the game very exciting, it received low ratings but i think thats because all the madden junkies dont wanna see anything but… ive been playing madden since 94 and i love backbreaker

  3. robert Says:

with football season coming up read the comments on this article it describes the cubs in a nutshell

    http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/ct-spt-0807-cubs-reds-chicago–20100806,0,4866706.story

the one about jim hendry being the matt millen of baseball

  4. chucky Says:

I don’t think Hendry is the Matt Millen of baseball.

    Millen is far better.

  5. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

Another day at the office for Jim Hendry. Many of you guys said it right…Meet the new owners. Same as the old ones.

  6. robert Says:

moe has came out and said he was against all those long term no trade conracts but the tribune made me do it to increase the value of the team…..that is total bull….that sounds like something my 4 year old will say when I ask her why she did something

  7. genrebuster Says:

….even if it’s true, who cares? Is the Tribune the reason Dusty stayed as long as he did? boo hoo Jim.

So Hendry is just another ass kissing yes man? It’s no wonder this team is where it’s at.

Ricketts is an idiot. When he cuts Hendry and Rothschild loose, I’ll give him another chance and re-evaluate.

Until then, who the hell cares? That is except the newbies and the sheeple. baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  8. robert Says:

when the dicketts family took over (know that is not a mispelling) they said there would be accountability from top to bottom…with a quote like that I guess it is safe to say there is no accountability….we are demanding a real gm…John Daniels of Texas has an out clause in his contract where if the team is sold he can become a free agent….

Hendry traded bobby hill for aram and choi for lee

Daniels has done the following trades….

Coco cordero and laynce nix to the brewers for carlos lee and some minor league named Nelson Cruz

    Josh Hamilton for Edison Volquez

texierra to the braves for neftali feliz elvis andrus beau jones and Matt Harrison

    david murphy for eric gagne

hendry is resting on those two salry dump trades and other gms are leaving him in the dust

Walt Jocketty made a trade at the deadline last year that was criticized but it is paying huge divedends for the reds…..

    Fire that worthless idiot now

PS moe your villiage called and they want you to come home now

  9. Yeti Says:

P.S. Robert, the Springfield School District called. They want their diploma back.

  10. Guest Says:

Is Irish Yeti no longer Irish?

    DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

  11. Yeti Says:

Well, you just gave yourself away.

  12. robert Says:

Yeti I was not born or raised in springfield lol

  13. Ron Santo's Legs Says:

I see this blog is still full of sheeple who enter on a regular basis.

As long as Jim Hendry still has a job as general manager, the Chicago National League Ball Club will have at least a few more seasons of misery.

  14. genrebuster Says:

Ron, you are correct…but Thank You for returning and adding your voice– the voice of reason — to those us who have been fans a long time…and are utterly fed up with the bullshit, status quo, incompetence, ignorant sheeple, etc.

For now Ricketts is a step backwards…and if you don’t believe me, look at the standings and the REALITY of how this current Cubs team is “performing”.

Lil’ Z may not be worth much before they can get rid of his bloated, selfish ass….great! Jim Hendry strikes again!! Or, is it the Tribune, Jim?

    Who cares!!!!!

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  15. genrebuster Says:

And for Gods sakes, put the Irish back in Yeti.

    DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM.

  16. chucky Says:

It’s time to end the Andrew Cashner experiment. It failed. He sucks goat balls. Get rid of him now.

  17. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

I am not an expert or anything but in my opinion, all because a pitcher throws 99 mph doesn’t mean he is good. In fact, it doesn’t matter how fast a pitcher throws. I am sure there are pitchers out there that get people out throwing tops 80, 85 or even 90. It just matters on control and movement.

One example we all can look at and puke at is Kyle Farnsworth. A 100 MPH and no success. Then you can compare that with Greg Maddux during his years in Atlanta. He would throw 90 tops and still be a CY Young winner.

  18. genrebuster Says:

Thanks Matt, you saved me some typing.

Chucky, when is it time to end the Jim Hendry experiment?

  19. chucky Says:

Genre…The time for that was one day before he got here.

  20. MadCityMac Says:

Matt, the very example I was going to use-Kyle Farnsworth-less. Million dollar arm, 10 cent head!

On another completely different note, Adam Burish has the Stanley Cup in Madison Wednesday, 10 AM to noon at the Kohl Center. My guess is after that he’ll be swilling beer out of it at the Kollege Klub at Lake and Langdon Sts!

  21. Fro Dog Says:

    Mike,

If you are going, let me know. I cannot make it up there because I have to work. I think if you go though that will be the second time you see the cup in person! Although this time, you might want to hold it if you get a chance.

  22. MadCityMac Says:

Fro, I wish I could go, but work is insane right now. Believe me, if I was going, I’d at least touch it!

  23. chucky Says:

Derrick Lee has been traded to Atlanta for 3 pitchers.

  24. genrebuster Says:

just saw it chucky. Good for him but I have mixed feelings, he’ll probably start lighting it up once he escapes the Cubs.

I am on the verge of HATING this PATHETIC Cubs organization. Barring a miracle, this team will NEVER win as long as Hendry is involved. 102 years may well prove to be a drop in the bucket.

Why the hell doesn’t Ricketts trade Hendry? Better yet, just fire his fat ass.

  25. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

I am shocked they got 3 pitchers back for him. Let’s see if they can these prospects up and see what they are made of. The prospects that are up now are sucking ass but at least we are finding out.

  26. Christopher K. Says:

102 years…probably 102 losses this year. What a pathetic organization, a true bunch of bull-shitters. Oh wait, they’re from Chicago, the TRUE capital of Illinois, where corruption rules. That explains it…

  27. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

Well, at least one thing is making me laugh this summer…Dusty being offered a contract extension.

    http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/08/reds-offer-dusty-baker-contract-extension.html

    Hahaha. Poor Cincinnati.

  28. Dusty Baker Says:

Hey dude, I’m leading the central with my horses. Cincy loves me, I’m bringing back that’ol Big Red Machine, dude!

  29. Marky Mark Prior Says:

Yo Dusty…so they offered you an extension…word! Dude you can celebrate by having your starters throw an extra 30 pitches, worked for me!

  30. genrebuster Says:

How predictable…Lou is bailing on the Cubs after today’s game. What a “lost” season this is…too bad Ricketts doesn’t have the balls to cut Hendry loose today. I have no problem with Piniella leaving…it seems obvious that he checked out quite some time ago–some would say during the 2008 playoffs–but I still say Lou is/was not the problem with this team.

Jim Hendry is a bum and Ricketts is an idiot for retaining his services this long. Just another fanboy with lots of money who clearly doesn’t get it.

Enjoy your new urinals Tommy Boy…..BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

All there is to look forward to now (in the Cubs near future) is the fire sale…bring it on! Burn baby burn.

    What a PATHETIC organization…what a disgusting season.

  33. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

Alright fellas. Time for us to name our favorite Lou Piniella moment as a manager of this piss poor excuse for a franchise.

    My favorite momenet…(Drumroll please)…

Game 1 – 2007 Playoffs against Arizona. Louser taking out Z after just 6 innings of 1 run ball and 82 pitches thrown. Louser said he wanted to “save” him for game 4. Too bad there wasn’t a game 4.

  34. robert Says:

my favorite moment was him suspending z for showing emotion….however doing the same thing to milton for being milton and apologizing

  35. erniesarmy Says:

My favorite Lou moments is his decision to avoid responsibility for his lack of leadership and managerial skills with the head exploding mantra:

    “WHADDA WANT ME TO DO?????????”

I am so glad that stupidity is leaving with him.

    Now, take Ricketts with you.

This website should be renamed “Fire Tom Ricketts” (We want a do over)

  36. robert Says:

Z has been criticized on this site several times.. However when he goes after a teammate it is for a lack of effort…Barrett in 07 and lee this year…..we talk hockey a lot on this site and people know I am a huge edmonton oiler fan….One of there players named Mark Messier was known for intimidating teammates who played with no effort…and he is considered the greatest leader in sports….Give me a team full of Zambranos and you may see the country club attitude gone and the World series here

PS The bayou boneheads Derek Lee and louzer gone now maybe moe can go

  37. jf Says:

With the Lou Piniella chapter now closed. I thought I would add another 2 cents.

As you know, Lou made the mistake of quitting without leaving. No crystal ball so can only guess why. In 09 when Hendry said the players have to do better next year, Lou should have quit and left. Staying only made Hendry look good and made himself look like one of those mistakes Hendry keeps making. Maybe Lou wanted this year’s income, or maybe he wasn’t prepared for this being his last managing job. You don’t have to make anybody look good so that you can retire. Sounds dumb just typing it.

Lou will probably get some consulting job with another team or do more TV work. Hendry is going to hire another manager and do whatever he can to get rid of Zambrano. Keeping Hendry on is Ricketts’ first big mistake.

  38. MadCityMac Says:

Robert, I couldn’t agree more about Messier. His time with the Oilers was great, but the enduring image I have of him is raising the Cup when he won it with the Rangers, and that big shit-eating grin of his. THAT is truly a leader. The Broadway Blueshirts don’t win that Cup without him!

Good riddance Lou! Next? Moe Hendry and that pencil-neck geek Crane Kenney. Don’t let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out dipshits!

  39. genrebuster Says:

    @ Nemo – Excellent post!

@ Robert – My problem with Lil Z is his performance…I think his inability to keep his emotions in ck contributes heavily to his diminishing effectiveness. Maybe he will change. I hope the Cubs can get rid of him and get something of value in return. That said, I won’t be surprised if he goes to another team and flourishes.

@ Ernie – Piniella was not so impressive on the tail end of his stay in Chicago and I would have enjoyed less “Whaddayah want me to do?”, too…but I am not a hater…that said, I am happy to see him leave now and I agree that Lou should have left at the end of 2009. I think the 2008 playoffs were the beginning of the end for Lou.

@ MSS – I did not understand the move in game 1 2007, either.

@ Fucilla – It’s been awhile…very well put (as usual). I was surprised when Lou came back this year and I felt strongly it would be a mistake and end badly. Sad to say I was right.

Mac – How the hell does Hendry keep his job? It is so obvious that he is a stinking bum of GM. Does he “know where the body is buried?”…or is Ricketts just that out of touch/ignorant/call it what you want? As for Kenney….BARF.

    Wait ’till next year.

  40. robert Says:

mad city one of the things messier was known for was beating the shit out of teammates in the locker room who played through the motions…

  41. chucky Says:

I said it once and I’ll say it again….Steve Goodman is fucking SATAN!

  42. genrebuster Says:

    hey Chicago whaddaya say!
