It’s that time of year again. The weather is getting nice and the NCAA Tournament is about to get started.
This year is a bit different. I don’t know if it’s because I am three years removed from college or the fact that the Illini really suck (more on them in a bit) but I am not totally into watching all of the games like I was in year’s past. The games will be on the TV at work but I probably won’t be as excited as before.
Now onto those great Illini. How in the hell did they get into the tournament? Their 19-13 record isn’t anything to be happy about. I was one who defended Bruce Weber and decided to be patient. I would have to say barring any miracle this year, Bruce Weber needs to go. This program like their football, needs a new start. Because the Illini have been so bad the last few years, I believe that is the reason I have lost some interest in following college basketball. Weber leads the Illini to a National Championship game with Bill Self’s players and Self seems to be doing just fine in Kansas. How frustrating.
Regardless, I still did a bracket for ESPN’s tournament challenge. I don’t really have that many upsets. I picked UNC, Duke, Kansas and Wisconsin? to make the Final Four. Duke is my pick to win it all. As the tournament goes every year, there will probably be a team or two that we didn’t think would win a single game end up going deep.

Fro, I certainly hope you’re right about the Badgers. I had them beating K-State last night but going no further. They’re showing some toughness right now that I didn’t expect-lotta blood last night! I had my doubts about them after the Penn State game in the Big Ten Tournament-they looked awful, but just maybe, Bo has them ready for a deep run.

YEAH BABY!!!! My alma mater (VCU) is in the Sweet 16. GO RAMS!!!
Now, for the truth. I had them picked to beat Purdue, but I’ve got them losing next weekend to Notre Dame. Before the tournament began, I thought that them beating Purdue would be a stretch, but the way they’re playing…they can match up with just about anybody in the tourney. Hell, it’s just awesome to see them get this far.
What an awesome tournament it has been so far. My bracket has gotten pounded as I had Washington beating UNC (they had ’em on the ropes right up to the buzzer…and there was some questionable shit at the end of that game) and I also had Texas beating Arizona (what the fuck was AZ doing calling a time out when they rebounded the ball with 12 seconds to go…just dribble it until you’re fouled and take some more time off the clock). Of course, I lost Pitt yesterday in another nailbiter of a game, so that’s when I lost my first Final Four team.
Oh well.
Later,
Jimmy D.

Well folks, my Illini stayed in the game against Kansas until the last six minutes or so. I didn’t even expect them to get into tournament much less win a game so I can’t be too disappointed. Thank God Demetri McCamey is done. That guy just doesn’t know when to stop shooting.
My bracket is shot to no end. I was 21-11 in the first series and in the second, I was 9-7. Luckily, my Final Four is still intact but after as every year goes, the chances get smaller through every round.

Jimmy, congrats on VCU! 94 f’ing points on Purdue? Holy Crap! I was watching the Badger-K State game in a bar in Bloomington Indiana next to some Butler fans, after the Butler-Pitt game. It didn’t even occur to me at the time that the Badgers would be playing Butler in the next round! Honestly, next to watching the Badgers win, the most fun I have is watching the real sleezebag coaches like Bruce Pearl get his and his Vols asses kicked. And then he gets shitcanned today! Love to see Calipari go down as well, and Pitino is already out. Next to go? Jim Calhoun, but there way Kemba Walker is playing, I don’t know.

Oh, and my bracket is toast!

Fuckin’ Badgers…Jimmy, I’m pulling for VCU now!

I didn’t see the game…but I hear Arizona was unstoppable in the 2nd half while clobbering Duke.

My brackets are shot.

I’m also fucked on my Tournament of Bad brackets too. What the fuck are people thinking? “Carol Moseley Braun” beats out “Glenn Beck”? And “Hopping on Lake Shore Drive in the Middle of a Blizzard” beats “Brett Farve’s wang”?
C’mon!!!
