I want to give a loud “Fuck you” to a bunch of the “experts” who argue basketball with me.
The Bulls lost Monday to the 76ers. Why is there a need to bitch about that? Because they made 18/30 free throws. What was the difference in the game? They lost by 12 which was the same amount of missed attempts.
They then take on the TimberWolves and win by 17. They missed two free throws the whole night.
You see fuckers how important free throws are? Or are you “experts” still think you are smarter than me?
So you don’t think the final scores have anything to do with the face that the 76ers are actually a pretty decent team? And the Bulls allowed them to shoot 45% from the floor while the Bulls only shot like 40%? And the Timberwolves are one of the three worst teams in the entire league and the Bulls shot 50% from the floor and the Wolves shot 40%? I’d say that defense (and playing shitty teams) is about 400 times more important than shooting 100% from the free throw line, which you seem to think wins ball games and championships. They’re 2 & 1/2 games up in THE ENTIRE EASTERN CONFERENCE. I’d say they’re a decent team, but according to you, if they made 100% of their free throws, they’d be in super first place, which is worth super home court advantage. That’d be neat.
Except for, of course, the teams that have bad free throw shooters on it but still win championships. Those teams don’t count.
Just stick to commenting about fake sports and making awful signs.
Hey Dubbs….why don’t you pay more attention to your blow up doll named George. He’s probably in need of a few patches considering how many times you’ve had your way with him with that needle dick of yours.
If Fro is such an idiot, why don’t you and your retarded butt buddies stay the fuck away from the rest of us. Douchebag.
Chucky…There shouldn’t be anything to worry about this TDubbs fellow. He is about 30 years old and hasn’t gotten laid in many years. If he does have a blowup doll, I bet he/she wouldn’t even fuck him.
Oh, Fro. You just had to say that… Alright, first off you’re saying that if the Bulls had made all of their free throws they would have at least tied? Ok, seems fair on the surface.. however, if the Bulls had made all their free throws many things in the game would have changed. If it was on the second attempt, there wouldn’t have been a rebound but instead a throw in, and the time wouldn’t be the same, and with a different score, both the Bulls and 76ers would have played the game differently. I wouldn’t think this would need explaining, but everytime someone says “if only they woulda _____” they forget the fact that if that missing thing did actually happen all the subsequent events would have changed as well. The events don’t just stay constant when you change arbitrary events in the middle of a game.
Now, to your expectation that the Bulls should have made 100% of their 30 free throw attempts. Do you know how often that happens? Since you probably don’t know, I was nice enough to look that information up. http://bkref.com/tiny/1mP7K
7 times in 25 years. Approximately once over 3.5 years. So, you’re saying the Bulls should be able to do that easily? That’s just as easy as Starlin Castro going 6-6 every game.
And those teams that made all of their free throws in one game (min 30 attempts), yea, none of them won the NBA title that year.
I cannot believe that I am once again explaining this to you in detail Yeti.
I am not bitching that they aren’t 100% on free throws. However, if they AT LEAST made ten of those, they have a chance to at least tie or even win.
And in all seriousness, your stats are worthless and don’t really prove points other than that you are an idiot. Watch the fucking games for once instead of reading what a box score says in a newspaper or a certain stat on a website.
Guys, I’ve gotta give some props to Yeti on his last comment; and pretty much all of his recent posts as they’ve been well presented, factual AND he’s stayed away from the childish name calling. For the most part, this last one is a great argument and it’s backed up. Yeti, well done.
However, I’m not going to agree with this part “I wouldn’t think this would need explaining, but everytime someone says “if only they woulda _____” they forget the fact that if that missing thing did actually happen all the subsequent events would have changed as well”.
The reason I can’t agree with that is because you just can’t make a blanket statement like that. What I mean is he points out that “everytime someone…”. Well, there are a couple of immediate things which pop into my mind to disqualify that line of reasoning. Example 1: Pittsburgh fouls Butler’s Howard with 1.6 seconds left in a game that is 99.99% in the books if Pitt leaves the lane unattended. There’s one where you can say “if only they woulda”. Could Butler have made a 75 footer for the win? Sure…but, you’ve gotta go with the odds on that one and that was a tragically bad turn of events for Pitt.
Example 2: Texas is leading Arizona and they get the rebound in the corner with something like 12 seconds left to play. They should dribble the ball, eat some clock and wait for the coming foul. Nope, they call a timeout and are subsequently unable to get the ball in after the timeout, giving Arizona the ball and ultimately the “W”. Another one where you absolutely can say “if only they woulda”.
I pin both of those losses on the coaches for not having their players mentally prepared for the events which unfolded; especially in the Pitt vs. Butler game.
Anyway, I’d appreciate any and all of you pulling for VCU this weekend. Either way, we’re either going to see an 8 or an 11 seed playing for the National Championship on Monday night. I’m thinking that VCU comes out victorious over Butler…by a fairly wide margin (maybe by 12 to 15 points).
Lastly, I’d like to add that I’m thrilled to see the hapless Brewers blow a 2 run lead in the bottom of the 9th to the toothpick led Reds. Couldn’t happen to a better team…I hate the Brewers.
yes, if they would have gone 28/30 from the line they would have had a better chance to win. That is true. However, why do you insist your favorite basketball team must shoot 93% from the line? No team does that consistently. If they’re really good then they’ll shoot 80% at the most. This Bulls team is really good and why you seem unable to enjoy it is beyond me. They have a realistic shot at winning the NBA Title. You are just an overreactionary twit that can never enjoy his favorite team’s success.

Oh yea… Two of those teams lost… What should they have done then, since free throws are the only key to winning?
March 31, 2011 at 12:37 pm
They should have had Shaq.
March 31, 2011 at 12:42 pm
Yeah, you’re probably right Matt. But in all fairness, I’ll answer his question.
Q. What am I?
A. An asshole. You may call me “Mr. Asshole”.
Now get lost, dipshit.

Yeti, this is off topic but I have a question for you.
I haven’t been able to enjoy the Cubs “success” in my lifetime….what does that make me?
April 1, 2011 at 11:57 am
Genre…..younger than 103 years old?
April 1, 2011 at 2:05 pm
chucky, Not the answer I was expecting..but you are correct sir! That said, being a Cubs fan can wear on you…as you know.
…..perhaps Yeti will shed additional light via arcane stats (?)…and the like.
