The Bears have made some moves the last two days. They signed guard Chilo Rachal from the 49ers on Wednesday and linebacker Geno Hayes from the Buccaneers today. Once again, this is great news.
Emery is doing all the right things so far to try to better this team. The Bears needed some lineman and a linebacker in the draft and while I still think they’ll draft at those positions, these free agent signings are still needed for the depth or in case the picks don’t work out. This is also something that Angelo didn’t really do when he was in charge. He just counted on the draft picks to take care of the problems.
3-10… Disappointed to see Jeff Samardzija regress these past two weeks. I just think it’s psychological with him. Something goes wrong and BOOM! he’s done.
None of us should be surprised at the record so far. Sure…it could be better. I was thinking along 6-7 or so. At best, the are .500. They’ve blown at least 2-3 games so far.
This is how it’s going to be for a few years in my opinion. Epstein is starting to clean up the mess that Hendry left. He’ll make some trades before August and more next offseason. They aren’t just rebuilding the team but also the farm system so keep that in mind. That will also take a few years.
It’s all about patience. You never know. We could be celebrating in five years…or not.
I just heard this on the score, and thought you guys should know about it too.
Kerry “Balsa” Wood goes on the DL for 5,913,465th time in his career, with what is being listed as “shoulder fatigue”.
OK, here is what Boers and Bernstein said, and I wholeheartedly agree with it. Wood barely threw in spring traing, and this is only April 20th. Isn’t that known as “career fatigue”? Isn’t it a little early in the season to have “shoulder fatigue”?
My question is, isn’t time to finally cut this guy loose once and for all? I’m so fucking sick of “he’s a real Cub”, or “we need his leadership in the clubhouse” bullshit I could goddamn scream! Enough is enough! Ricketts needs to be taken to the woodshed for this shit. This asshole is taking a fucking roster spot from someone who is far more deserving, or someone to possibly showcase for a trade. Instead, we get more sentimental horseshit from an owner who, as far as I’m concerned, still doesn’t know his fucking ass from a hole in the ground. This whole damn thing is completely on Fanboy. Wood NEVER should have been brought back.
I think Wood is getting a longer rope also because this bullpen sucks. I mean, they went so low as to sign SHAWN CAMP (who is older and maybe even worse than Wood).
From the 25-man roster all the way to the farm, this team has A LOT of work to do.
