This could be the year…

The not-so-lovable lovers are back. And they beat the powerhouse Pittsburgh Pirates in their opener behind Samardzija’s 9 strikeouts.

So, here we are….again. Just not as many of us. For me, things have changed. After all these years of losing and PATHETIC ownership/management, my interest continues to fade. I don’t even know who is on the current Cubs roster.

There’s a part of me that really hopes that Theo can do for the Cubs what he did for the Red Sox…soon. Oh…it wasn’t Theo’s direction that made a difference? Regardless; the Red Sox erased years of futility…you shouldn’t compare them to the Cubs anymore.

Then again, this COULD be the year. Go Cubs Go!

turn your head….and cough

I guess he’s not serviceable anymore. Cue Yeti!

  3. George Santayana Says:

Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it.

  4. chucky Says:

    Kevin Gregg was still pitching?

    Who knew?

  5. Pie In The Sky Says:

Can Marmol ever have a clean inning? Dude was awful.

  6. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

Come on now you sack of pig crap! In three games, has nearly lost two of them. WHY IS SVUEM STILL PUTTING HIM IN THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE?!

  7. chucky Says:

Sveum needs to just putting this cocksucker out there. Period. Every goddamn time he pitches it’s a crap shoot with loaded dice. If the Cubs are trying to showcase him this isn’t the way to do it. I wouldn’t trust this fucking, dumbo-eared assclown with a 10 run lead. Just fucking cut the bastard already! You’re going eat most of his salary when you trade him anyway. GET RID OF THIS FUCKING, GODDAMNED USELESS SACK OF SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. chucky Says:

Sveum needs to just *stop* putting this cocksucker out there.

Got a little ahead of myself there.

  9. Pie In The Sky Says:

It’s just becoming embarrassing to listen to Dale Sveum defend Marmol now. It’s almost as if he doesn’t care if Marmol gives up hits or runs—just as long as he doesn’t give up walks. Which is funny because Marmol IS GIVING UP WALKS. And HBPs.

  10. Robert Says:

Will someone do what tonya Harding did to nancy Kerrigan to Carlos marmol

  11. genrebuster Says:

….Sveum insists Marmol will continue to get the ball in the ninth, pointing out Marmol wasn’t exactly steady last year while picking up 20 saves.

“For the most part we know things like that can get interesting with him,” Sveum said. “But he got out of it again.”

Some douchebag on ESPN says Marmol needs to continue getting the ball because he’s going to get 25 saves(!)….success! BAAAAAH BAAAAAAAAH BAAAAAAAAAh

    Some things never change……..PATHETIC.

  12. Yeti Says:

“If the Cubs are trying to showcase him this isn’t the way to do it.” Having him pitch in games is not the way to *hope* his trade value goes up?

  13. chucky Says:

Yeti….have you not beem watching? He nearly lost the two games he was put in. How much has his trade value gone up since Monday? Stop being such an argumentative assclown.

  14. jimmy d. Says:

WOW!!! What a fucking pile of monkey jizz that dumbo looking ass-hat is!!! Somebody end that mother fucker!!!

  15. jimmy d. Says:

  16. jimmy d. Says:

Not that it has been (to this point), but THIS IS NOT EVEN FUNNY ANYMORE!!! FUCKING KILL THAT KEROSENE LANTERN ALREADY!!! Sveum, Epstein AND Ricketts should all take turns beating that fucker until he can no longer breathe…

  17. jimmy d. Says:

Can’t wait to hear the post-game bullshit on this one!!!

  18. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

It doesn’t take a genius to figure it out but my wife called it as soon as she saw him warming up. When my wife knows what is going to happen, you know we’re fucked!!!

  19. Pie In The Sky Says:

I’m not even blaming Marmol now. Sveum has had two years to change this and he hasn’t. I don’t know if he’s just that blind in faith or management (Epstein and Hoyer) are forcing this on him. Regardless, I’m blaming them until they change this. Should’ve been fixed last offseason.

  20. jimmy d. Says:

Chucky, where the fuck are you? I need a well versed rant!!!

  21. Pie In The Sky Says:

So… what does Marmol think of his meltdown?

“I had my pitches working. I just missed my pitch. I didn’t do anything bad.”

  22. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

Guys…my guess is Chucky on the next flight from O’Hare to Atlanta to bash Sveum’s or Marmol’s head in the wall. Whoever he sees first…is going to get the beatdown. I am looking forward to seeing his mug on the news for battery.

  23. Nemo Says:

Holy Flying Fuck! I can’t believe someone as smart as Theo Epstein thought that Marmol would be serviceable this year!! What exactly was wrong with Haren’s MRI? No matter-even if his balls were superglued to his eyes, we should have made the trade!!!

  24. Marmol's trade value is worth... Says:

  25. chucky Says:

If Marmol is still even considered to pitch again, I don’t give a goddamn if the Cubs are 20 runs ahead, Sveum should be kicked in the fucking nuts. Nemo, did Epstein actually think Marmol was serviceable? I thought that title only applied to Kevin Gregg. Marmol IS actually making Gregg look good in comparison. Sveum needs to stop putting him out there, period. He needs to find his testicles, then walk right into Jeds office and tell this is it. He’s not putting Marmol in one more game, ever. He’s going to end up completely losing that clubhouse, and once that happens, there’s no turning back. Yeti, you still think he should be showcased? Showcasing him like this proves the only thing he’s worth trading for is a steaming pile of dog shit!!! The Cubs will have to eat his contract if they trade him anyway,(FUCK YOU AND DIE MOE HENDRY, YOU COCKSUCKER!!!!) so cut this dumbo looking motherfucker!!!!!!!!! Jesus fucking Christ!!! I’m surprised no players have gone up to Sveum, or Hoyer, and said “This guy is a shit disturbing motherfucker!!!! Get rid of him!!!!!!! For fucks sake, SOMEBODY PLEASE BREAK THIS COCKSUCKERS ARM!!!!!!! I’m fucking serious! The ship has sailed in regards tio getting any value for him. After all, you have to give value in order to get value. Other than running him into a giant propeller and using him as fish chum, what value does Marmol really have at this point? That’s right.

  26. jimmy d. Says:

I just want to point out that I’m not delusional that this team is a championship caliber team. However, what Marmol is single-handedly doing is a mental mindfuck to the clubhouse. No matter how hard they try to grind out a positive performance/effort, they’re always thinking that this piece of shit will come in and immediately give away the game. They scratch and claw for everything they can for 2 to 2 1/2 hours…only to see this Dumbo eared retard breathe hope into the mind of the opponent the minute he’s called on. There isn’t a team in the league that thinks they’re out of it knowing that there’s always the possibility of this guy coming in.

Here’s his line so far this year: 1 2/3 innings pitched (5 outs), 6 hits, 5 runs, 2 HR’s, 2 BB’s, an ERA of 27 and a WHIP of 4.8. This experiment is OVER…get rid of him so we can develop a team and a culture that has cohesion…not one that is divided!

    Jimmy D.

  27. MadCityMac Says:

    “Marmol” is Spanish for “Axford”….

  28. jimmy d. Says:

Axford sucks…but, Marmol swallows (shaft, balls, and all).

    Jimmy D.

  29. jimmy d. Says:

HURRAY…at least there’s still some sanity in the organization:

Japanese reliever Kyuji Fujikawa was expected to replace Carlos Marmol as the Chicago Cubs closer in 2014 after Marmol’s three-year contract ended. Instead, Fujikawa moved into the closer’s role six games into the 2013 season.

Manager Dale Sveum made the announcement Sunday morning at Turner Field, hours after Marmol blew a save by serving up ninth inning home runs to B.J. Upton and Justin Upton.

Now, let’s see what we can create as far a unified unit is concerned. I say get Marmol out of the clubhouse entirely.

  30. chucky Says:

I’m looking for that giant propeller……………

  31. genrebuster Says:

Japanese import Kyuji Fujikawa will take over the role.

“I came into the season with the mindset of a set-up man,” Fujikawa said through his interpreter. “Once Marmol’s condition gets better I think there is a chance he’ll come back. We all have to fight through it.”

Fujikawa-san. Do you know where you are? Just do your job and pitch. I, for one am not interested in your opinion of Marmol. Hopefully the Marmol shitstorm is DONE and there is no “fighting to come back”. Not as a Cub.

What is even more PATHETIC than Marmol’s lack of performance is the fact that it took so long for Cubs management to make this move. No amount of money saved is/was worth keeping a bum of his caliber around.
