To the surprise of many, Jared Allen is a Bear. The deal is four years, but only the first two years are guaranteed. According to the cap geeks, the Bears picked up Allen and Lamarr Houston for about the same price that Julius Peppers would have been paid if the Bears had kept him. Regardless, this is a victory for the Bears.
This goes back to what Phil Emery has done since arriving. The draft hasn’t even arrived yet and the defensive line looks like this: Willie Young, Nate Collins, Israel Indoije, Lamarr Houston, Jay Ratliff and now, Jared Allen. The line is stacked and the Bears could still add one more to the mix come the draft. We can’t forget the other additions on defense with Ryan Mundy and M.D. Jennings.
With the Bears having seven picks this upcoming draft, you still would think they draft defensive players in the first two rounds. The linebackers consist of Jon Bostic, Lance Briggs, Khaseeme Greene and D.J. Williams. As excited as I was for both Bostic and Greene last year, I still think the Bears should get a linebacker in one of the first two rounds. The line may be fixed but the rest of the defense needs help. Seven picks should get a linebacker, safety, cornerback, running back, defensive lineman, an extra offensive lineman and possibly, a backup quarterback.
Your thoughts in the thread.

Your forgetting our new linebacker, Phil Emerys golden boy Shea McClellin. Taking a linebacker early would be throwing up the white flag on that guy and it doesnt look like they are ready to do that. I think they need to take a defensive tackle or safety in the first round. Then a quarterback or runningback. Still waiting to see Matt Fortes backup…..

Well, I haven’t heard the tired old refrain “We like our football team” bullshit that we got from the previous regime. This GM actually can see problems, and addresses them accordingly. This head coach isn’t overly loyal to bad or old players, and he isn’t trying to move players into positions that they can’t play and be successful. This leads to having a team that can possibly contend to fucking do something special. Gee, where is Jerry these days? Maybe he’s off whistling Dixie somewhere. And Lovie? All I can say is this: How long will it take for him to turn the Buccaneers into the Chicago Bears(his version) south? I bet in two years, maybe even less, Tampa Bay will be dealing with some real serious buyers remorse.

First off, I want them all to stay healthy.
After that, I want one defensive philosophy this season: THREE AND OUTS. I don’t give a shit about pick sixes and fumbles returned for TDs any more. I just want the Bears to get the other motherfuckers off the field as soon as possible. No more watching the front seven get bulldozed during ten minute drives to the end zone. No more Aaron Rogers or Drew Brees or whomever torching our secondary with 60 yard TD scores.
Three and outs: get the other motherfuckers of the field ASAP.
Bears defense 2014. The end.

They’ll get a running back in the second or third round. There’s no reason to spend more money on someone like Knowshon Moreno. They can get a running back out of the draft who is five or six years younger and for much cheaper.
And Chucky, you’re spot on. I know we have different opinions on Hester but I think losing him will hurt. It came down to money and that’s something that is understandable. The Bears are already 20 times better on defense and that’s where the money is going. Emery knows this and so does everyone else. The draft should be pretty exciting.

Bulls clinch a playoff spot. I guess they dont suck anymore. Now the 76’rs, They Suck!
March 29, 2014 at 11:48 am
You know who’s been sucking lately? The Blackhawks.
Since December 18th, they have gone 17-10-19. That pretty much translates into 17-29. That is not very good. I know they have had some injuries but they were healthy at that start and just recently, started having injuries. Is it fatigue? It’s concerning to say the least.

10 years for that kind of money is UTTER FUCKING BULLSHIT. Nobody deserves – or needs – that kind of money.
For those who disagree, fine….but I’m not interested in debating it. – fine
March 29, 2014 at 8:36 pm
What is there to debate? You’re right. The idea that Cabrera earns it is fucking bullshit. If anyone disagrees…..KISS MY ASS!!!!
March 29, 2014 at 9:23 pm
Did anyone read about LeBron James being jealous of Cabrera’s new contract? Haha. What do these athletes intend to use all this cash for? Just crazy.

Nice to see the Big 10 Conference kick ass in the tournament! Holy shit Wisconsin, where did you guys come from??
March 30, 2014 at 2:33 pm
Wisconsin screwed up my Final Four. Bastards. I had Arizona, Florida, Michigan and Michigan State.
March 30, 2014 at 5:51 pm
Sorry Fro! (Well, maybe not where the Badgers are concerned!) Michigan State fucked me today; had them beating the Badgers in the final, along with Florida and Louisville in the final 4. Now that my bracket is shot in the ass, Badgers all the way. Is it asking a lot to see one of my favorite teams win a title in my lifetime? Fucking Badger hockey team gacked one away against North Dakota the other day. Fuckers. (Okay, the hockey team has won 6 NCAA’s in my lifetime, including getting to see them do it in person in ’81 in Duluth, but still…) Go Badgers!
March 30, 2014 at 8:11 pm
Well, this is a first. I’ve won a couple of brackets over the years, but this is the first time I’ve clinched one before the Elite Eight weekend wrapped up. I really needed Kentucky to beat Louisville on Friday night…and they came through for me. After the Badgers won last night, I looked at the brackets and realized that if UConn could somehow beat Michigan State, that I’d lock up First Place in the two “money” brackets that I’m in. One group had 23 entries and the other had 14. I had Florida, Michigan State, Michigan and Wisconsin in my Final Four. Florida beating Wisconsin for the National Championship. But, like Mac said…now that I’ve wrapped up my brackets, I’m pulling for the Badgers to win the whole fucking thing! GO BUCKY!!!
March 31, 2014 at 2:33 pm
I remember the days I used to care about opening day. Now, not so much.
March 31, 2014 at 3:56 pm
One of the worst Opening Day lineups I’ve ever seen. No wonder they got shut out.
March 31, 2014 at 4:39 pm
I’m wondering if this a snapshot of Rick Renteria. If it is, dump him now.
Oh, sorry. I should have said “Ricky”. What a fucking goof.
March 31, 2014 at 5:35 pm
One down, 161 to go….. Go Cubs!!
March 31, 2014 at 5:52 pm

Puke.
March 31, 2014 at 6:25 pm
Fuckin’ Cubs, man. This is why I’m a soccer fan (full disclosure, they’re still winless after the first month of the season):

Too bad the Cubs didnt play today. That would have been a good April fools joke.
April 2, 2014 at 5:47 pm
Fro, If you have time before leaving can we get a “Ready for Wrestlemania” topic? Predictions?
April 2, 2014 at 5:49 pm
Well, Mr. T is going into the Hall of Fame on Saturday so my prediction would be…………….
Pain.
