…..sorry, my frendts!
I didn’t watch the game, but kept up with closing moments on-line. They gagged, but didn’t choke. They live another day.
Something is “off” with this Cubs team. Does the loss of Dexter Fowler have anything to do with it?

Something is off? Yeah, I think something is off. Score today is 9-6 Reds in the Fifth. 9 runs off Lester in ONE INNING … the second! Where’s Chucky?
To be honest with you Genre, if this team makes the playoffs I’ll be shocked. They’re a mess right now. Instead of starting to get their engine running smooth for the stretch, they’re coughing and chocking!
Genre: My opinion remains Maddon is where the fault lies. His “unconventional” methods may have worked for two years, and got them a title, but now the novelty is wearing off. All of his lineup changes, his batting order changes, and his funky “dress up” days are starting to break down what once was a very solid ball club.
This team sorely lacks leadership! If I’m Theo Epstein, I call Maddon in when the season’s over – and by the way things look that will be Oct. 1 – and tell him changes in his methods will be made for 2018, or he can resign.
I wouldn’t mind seeing David Ross as manager next year.

Its Justin FUCKING Grimm now.
Cubs come all the way back to tie the score at 9 and Grimm throws BP pitches. 11-9 Reds.

I have to agree with ernie: it will take a miracle to get this team with the postseason. Could’ve done without the cardinals getting hot all of a sudden.
The Cubs should’ve swept Cincy; how the fuck do they get flex-cuffed for one run and six hits one night, then have ANOTHER Jon Lester/bullpen meltdown two nights later? The fuck?
August 18, 2017 at 8:03 pm
Apparently the Cubs’ bullpen is not going to make the trip back to the playoffs an easy one. Oh, and Jon Lester’s on the DL.
Yay.

I will say this for Maddon, he really has no one he can trust in that bullpen anymore. He brings in Rondon, and he gives up a double and a single, one run scores. Now it 4-3 Chicago over Toronto, rather than 4-2.
That isn’t his fault. Epstein, if he does nothing else in the off-season, has got to find him help for that bullpen!

The bears won a preseason game last night.
Joy.

The world is going to shit…but it’s okay, at least the Cubs swept the Blue Jays today.

To extend and paraphrase one Jason (“Speak for Yourself”) Whitlock: “America doesn’t solve problems or fix shit anymore; we just blame the other guy and call him names, when we’re not putting our hands in his pocket.”
This is Cubs baseball from now until the end of the season: No contenders/teams with a winning record until the Cubs host Milwaukee 9-8 thru 10. Home to the Cardinals 9/15 thru 17. At Milwaukee 9/21 thru 24. At St Lou 9/25 thru 28.
My dream for Chicago Cubs baseball 2017:
Eliminate the Brewers and Cardinals from playoff contention on the same day.
Sweep Dusty Baker and the Washington nationals in the NLDS (Cubs embarrass Mr Toothpick in from of the DC crowds; “Go Cubs Go” being sung all over the nation’s capitol).
Beat the Dodgers in seven (or fewer) for the NL Pennant.
Beat the Yankees for back-to-back World Series titles.
The world is going to shit gents…Cubs baseball: it’s all we have left.
GO CUBS GO.

Good post DVX…just can’t figure out why the Reds are such a “tough” opponent for the Cubs.
August 22, 2017 at 9:48 pm
uhh…I just checked the game online…it was 6-3 but the Cubs bats have come alive again….good news.
August 22, 2017 at 10:32 pm
The Cubs bullpen needs work.
August 22, 2017 at 11:11 pm
Yep, Genre is right. And in my opinion that crummy bullpen is why they will not go far in the playoffs. A solid bullpen is a must! And the Cubs don’t have one this year.

This is no parody, folks. ESPN actually pulled Robert Lee from doing the Virginia football game because his name is … Robert Lee and someone in Charlotesville might be offended. Here is the memo:
“We collectively made the decision with Robert to switch games as the tragic events in Charlottesville were unfolding, simply because of the coincidence of his name. In that moment it felt right to all parties. It’s a shame that this is even a topic of conversation and we regret that who calls play-by-play for a football game has become an issue.”
Next ESPN will demand all announcers refer to the Cleveland Indians as the Cleveland “Racists”!
Where is Chucky?!!!!!!!
August 23, 2017 at 7:37 pm
Fuck ESPN.
Fuck Max Kellerman for being such a “woke” social justice warrior bullshit artist; seriously, I saw him on TV at work yesterday and I wanted to punch him in the mouth.
Fuck all these man-whores trying to get Kaeper-butt an NFL job. Fuck all these overpaid “victims’ protesting the National Anthem. Fuck the whiny little bitch millennial who posted and article on Yahoo news about getting rid of the anthem from NFL games.
Fuck every one of these stupid motherfuckers in SI.com, ESPN, and everywhere else in sports wanting to be activists and fanning the flames over motherfucking Charlottesville and being bigger pans in the ass in the process.
Fuck the “finna go oh-and-sixteen” Cleveland motherfucking browns for their stupid ass-anthem protests.
Fuck every square inch of all this bullshit and keep it out of fucking professional sports.
MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!!
August 23, 2017 at 9:01 pm
Cubs winning cures all things (up 9-1 in the 9th at Cincy).
August 24, 2017 at 8:36 pm
The Cubs with 2 runs in 8 innings…and Pedro Strop on the mound.
The fuck, Joe?
August 24, 2017 at 11:40 pm
The bullpen stinks. Cubs may not make the playoffs.
ESPN stinks worse. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
