Captain Hook?

Interesting article…I am a Joe maddon fan…but I would have left Hendricks in yesterday…(to be clear, the photo is from a different game).

I’m going to agree here. Keep Hendricks in to sac bunt and take your chances with the top of the order coming up. Jason Heyward has become the most difficult out to get on the team in recent weeks and probably plates two runs with an oppo-field double or something.

Genre, I will always be grateful for Maddon turning this team into a winner, a World Series winner at that! But, I still do not like his managerial style. His inconsistent moves and constant lineup changes, I believe, affect the team’s play. They’re losing to Milwaukee tonight 4-0. But, the fact that they have just one lousy hit going into the 8th is what I mean. I just don’t think they are able to slip into a comfort zone with this guys managerial style. All teams go into batting slumps, but 1 hit? I do think that if he doesn’t lead them to the playoffs this year, they may let him go. Joe Girardi is out there and available.

Looks like I’m the only one posting anything in here these days. What happened? Everybody went home? Anyway, regarding Maddon, this commenter is right, “Maddon has let all the hot smoke get to him to where now he thinks everything he does is the ‘new age’ way to do it, with nothing to support or reinforce his decisions, other than it being what Maddon wanted to do, so in that case it must be correct because Joe is never wrong that’s what he’s heard so many years.. He’s gonna blow our window you’re right about that. Same with his unset never the same lineups, no ‘plan’ to his construction and decisions. This team needs a good professional manager like a Francona or Showalter type. Not a bargain bin shopper who can whip up a decent meal with the leftovers in the pantry. We don’t have an empty cupboard, we don’t need to make something from scratch, get more out of nothing. Cubs aren’t the poor Rays. Rays needed his managerial type, cubs do NOT. He’s needing the cubs now to keep himself relevant. Dude’s gotta go before this group of players is gone. If Maddon is all Bryant, Happ, Almora, Schwarbs, etc have during their tenure hear, then Theo will have failed and screwed the entire organization, fanbase and city.”
This was after Cubs lost another winnable game. Had a 3-2 lead in top of 9th and Wilson gives up the double and Dodgers win 4-3.

I legitimately cannot begin to understand his lineups anymore. I’ll often see guys like La Stella batting #3. No idea why.

  5. Erniesarmy Says:

Cubs lose to the worst team in the NL 6-2 and Joe is still messing with the line up! Right now Milwaukee is the best team in the Central.

  6. Pie in the Sky Says:

I’m not worried about Milwaukee. They usually are the best team in the first half. They always implode during the last two months. Their pitching has overperformed tremendously. They’ll come back to earth and finish 2nd or 3rd as they normally do.

  7. genrebuster Says:

How do you get swept by the Reds? And what happened to the pitching? Dammit.
