First, I want to apologize for not posting much in the last few months. I feel as I’ve written this before, but my life has been fairly time-consuming. In addition, the landscape of Chicago sports has made it difficult for me to give a damn lately. As I mentioned in the winter, lousy teams equal lousy interest. I couldn’t believe that the last thing I posted was an open thread back in early May.
It’s not just here, however. Many websites that were very popular many years ago have gone away. One thing I will guarantee is that this website will never go away. I just remember how this place was many years ago with tons of people here. The rise of social media (which I don’t have nor want to get into) has been the “discussion board” of sorts while sites like these are not being as popular. That’s fine and dandy. I’ll stay in the dark corner of the internet.
I think when the Fall arrives, so will more topics. The Bulls just had their picks for the Draft. They selected Wendell Carter Jr. from Duke and Chandler Hutchison from Boise State. Both players are supposed to help the Bulls to contend in the years to come. I’ll believe it when I see it.
The Blackhawks have their selection of draft picks starting tonight. I am praying they turn things around and get back to being contenders. That window is closing.
Of course, this is all for you to discuss. I’ll try to post another open thread next week. For those who are still around, it’s appreciated. Thank you very much.

Cubs just got swept, 4 straight!, to the pathetic Reds after securing a 6-1 lead going into the seventh. This team is totally out of sync. If they somehow don’t make the playoffs, they have to let Maddon go. Their window of opportunity is closing fast.

A Lionel Richie fan? Now there’s a man with taste!
I too have slipped into “casual sports fan mode.” The Cubs’ pitching just got mauled by the Reds, the White Sox aren’t worth the discussion. Ditto for my beloved Fire and Passion, and their kid sister Red Stars aren’t that much better.
I have more faith in the Black Hawks’ draft than the Bulls. Two reasons. One: GarPax. Two: Never have any trust in a draft that only lasts two rounds. ESPN commentator Jay Bilas was drafted in the seventh round out of Duke, where he was a four year starter and a national champion. The talent pool has shrunk, and the Euro players are a bigger dice roll than ever.

Thx, Fro. I, too will try to contribute more frequently.
As for the Cubs, they stink of late. Totally out of sync is right, Ernie.

I’m laughing out loud at today’s game. Cubs put up an 11-3 lead, and are now hanging on to a 11-10 lead against the Twins. Pitching is what wins in September and October, and the Cubs don’t have it. See ya next year!

But, but…..they won! š
