…but based on what’s been happening lately, I’m not counting on it.
For now, I’m hoping they win the division…(not feeling the wildcard scenario).
Also, IF the reports on Addison Russell are true, then he’s done and I hope he’ll get some serious professional help. I’ll never understand “serial” abusers. Regardless, the timing of this is definitely hurting the team.

For all the injuries and setbacks, I say they have overachieved this year, though I will admit I have been “glass half full” about this team since 2015. Its been an impressive stretch of 4 years. If the hitting stays out of slumps, I do like their chances. Strop will be back to shore up the bullpen and start closing games. I do like Rosario and De la Rosa, I think they could provide long relief if we get a quick exit from Q or Lester. Once the tournament starts, anyone can win it all, and anyone can be eliminated in the first round, even the record breaking Red Sox.
As for next year, I was thinking Theo was gonna go after Bryce Harper, but with Russell likely finished, perhaps Machado is the new free agent target?

Four straight years in the playoffs for the Cubs…never thought I’d see the day.
Unfortunately, these days of glory have not quite erased the same bad habits of the hundred-loss seasons and the past post-season failures: bullpen meltdowns, stranding a battalion’s worth of baserunners, and bonehead defense at just the wrong moment.
Like I said, I can truly see this team being the away team in the wild-card game next week….after being 4.5 games up after Labor Day. God alone knows why they can’r seem to put it together this month.

CUBS WIN!
One game up on the Brewers with St Louis in town for three.
BTW, Jake Arrieta finished 10-11 with the Phillies this year, and lost his last start of the season tonight. Thoughts?

FFUUUUUUCKKK!!
Okay, at worst they’ll be the home team in the Wild card game, but for the love of God!

I voiced my thoughts about this team on the other thread. But, I want to say this; the thing that separates the Cardinals, the Yankees, the Dodgers, and the Red Sox from the rest of the teams in baseball is an unwillingness to accept failure. The Cubs accept failure, and when they don’t fail (2016) for one year, they’re satisfied. That’s a recipe for another one hundred years of futility!
That is why I am not satisfied with four straight years in the playoffs! You play to win the World Series. Not make the playoffs!
