1st and 40: Packers 10 Bears 3

by

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 1st and 40 in a football game before. Same goes for 2nd/3rd and 40 as well. Maybe I saw it on television, but never in person.

It’s late. Here’s your recap:

Matt Nagy is a fraud. This game furthers that evidence. Just keep passing on 2nd and inches. That will show them!

The defense couldn’t stop Rodgers when it mattered the most. The stars don’t look that great, but he made great plays when they were needed the most.

Next week, the Bears go to Denver. Yay?

First: There is a difference between a “bar and grille” and a “sports bar.” Sports bars don’t run the jukebox during the game, and if they do, it’s not bullshit 70s lite rock or Wham’s “Careless Whispers.”

Second, because “Bar and Grille” closed at 10, I left just after the second half kickoff. Good that the Bears mostly put handcuffs on Ol’ Discount Double Check for most of the first half, and without drawing those damned “pass interference”penalties. Bad: the bears (lack of) offense.

Not willing to take a chance with the significant law enforcement presence, I decided to go home instead of heading to Buffalo Wild Wings for the rest of the game. Looks like I didn’t miss much.

Oh, and everybody at the 670 The Score Blog who predicted not only a Bears win, but scoring 20+ plus in the process: Do you want a Western or Spanish omelet with all those eggs on your faces?

Well, look at it this way; Chicago beat Milwaukee in baseball, but Milwaukee beat Chicago in football. So…it…was…even….
As a Packer fan, I’m happy with the result, but that offense was stuffed by the Bear defense most of the game. It could easily have ended 3-3.

  3. Dave Says:

Can’t beat the Pack when your offense is on the mat, no matter how many times your defense whoops Rodger’s ass. Fro, I am starting to buy into your Nagy is a fraud mantra, I wasn’t so sure at first. I mean the guy won NFL coach of the year, guess that was due to the defense.

The 17 week countdown to firing Pace has begun. I already knew Turd Biscuit sucked two years ago when I saw nothing out of him that you should see from a good quarterback. The anemic office winning 13-10 games all last season due to the defense didn’t change my opinion. Finally all the Super Bowl kool aid the Meatballs were drinking all off season seems to have worn off and I predict this year we will finally understand the Turd Biscuit fiasco and what a bad drafter Pace is. Giving up half your draft to move up ONE PICK? Then squandering your second pick on a minor leaguer like Shaheen? The Kevin White debacle? The Mike Glennon Experiment? Letting Robie Gould leave and all the money he gave that bum who couldn’t kick? This looks like the same offense we had in the John Fox era. Turd Biscuit looks about as bad as Rosen looked last year in Arizona, get ready for another losing season.

Steve Rosenbloom left/retired/got fired from the Chicago Tribune? Damn, so sad…I loved reading his thoughts after a Bears loss.

…and the sports internet continues to suck.

…and it looks like the Cubs will finish losing 5 of 7 to the Brewers. Shit.

  6. Sebastian Hawks Says:

Doug and the OB was the best, RIP Doug. Their furor over the last year of Tressmen and during the Caleb Hainie debacle were some of the best sports radio of all time. OB is still on with Dan Hampton now on 720 and was quite angry over the debacle Thursday night.

I hear Vegas was bombarded with money coming out of Chicago betting Turd Biscuit would be the MVP? Were they watching the same Turd Biscuit I was watching over the past two seasons? I was hoping he could at least make it to Andy Dalton-Case Keenum level game manager, but by the Playoff snoozer I figured him out as another Caleb Hainie.

    Most football fans aren’t smart.

Those same fans betting on Trubisky also thought Cleveland Browns were the team to beat.

  8. Erniesarmy Says:

I think the Bears will be okay. That defense is legit. The Cubs, on the other hand, will finish third in the division. Milwaukee will be first with the Cardinals second. I’m just glad this will be it for Joe Maddon.

  9. Jimmy D Says:

Sorry, Ernie, but I totally disagree with you. Of course, I’m typing this 4 days after your post…and after the Brewers got shut out by the Red Birds. The ONLY way that the Retardinals don’t win the division…is if the Cubs win it. Of course, that would mean that the Cubs would have to take AT LEAST 5 of the 7 games they play against the Retardinals over the next couple of weeks.
Even if the Cubs split with the aforementioned Tards…the Brewers are NOT the team they were last year and they don’t stand a chance of winning the division. Just my $0.02.
