The Fighting Illini are getting ready for the tournament and the Bears signed Andy Dalton.

by

For the first time since 2013, my Fighting Illini are in the NCAA Tournament. For the first time since 2005, they are a one seed and have as good of a chance as any other team. It’s been a long time. 2005 had me sick to my stomach after the loss to North Carolina in the Championship Game. I’m as confident as any other fan that they can get the job done this time around. They play in the best conference in college basketball and they took care of business most of the season against other great teams. I’m anxiously waiting for Friday.

The Bears signed Andy Dalton. I am in the minority here. I’m actually okay with the signing. It’s one year and he does have some success, albeit many years back. He should be healthy and ready to go.

What I am not okay with is the fact that Nick Foles is still here. Dalton getting signed isn’t a bad thing if that also means the Bears are actually going to DRAFT A QUARTERBACK. I know that’s difficult to understand with Ryan Pace in charge. But damn. Trade or get rid of Nick Foles and GO DRAFT A QUARTERBACK.

Fire away with your thoughts.

I gotta disagree with you, Fro.

The contract itself is no biggie, but after the rampant Russell Wilson rumors it feels we went from winning a Porsche on The Price is Right only to find out later they have substituted a Yugo with an overhauled engine. It…runs. It seems we have a cluster of backups on this team. This is not the ’85 Bears when even Steve Fuller could destroy teams-the Bears need a legit quarterback to make plays. This has 8-8 written all over it. So disappointing.

  2. Fro Dog Says:

I can see the frustration. No doubt about it.

I also can see why getting Russell Wilson may be a bad idea as well. Hear me out before you ask me what kind of drugs I’m taking. Wilson is 32 and will be 33 halfway through the season. For a quarterback, not that old. But for someone who is a scrambler and has a history of getting hit big time while also holding onto the ball too long? The shelf life is very short and the cost is extremely high. Five years ago, I probably take that deal.

Again, I mentioned the Bears should draft a quarterback. If that pick ends up like Wilson or someone great (I know I’m aiming high here), then that works and it’s at a fraction of the cost. I think the Bears have a better chance at drafting one than trading for one.

  3. Nemo Says:

Yeah, my wife mentioned to me how old Wilson was and I was a bit surprised. However, if they REALLY think they are going to be SB contenders in the next year or two, then get him. If they are going to rebuild, I agree with the draft, but then it looks like another succession of caretaker quarterbacks if they can’t find someone ready to start on day one.

I mean, why not Deshaun Watson and draft a QB in the later rounds who might take time to be NFL ready, but is still a reasonable prospect? Salary hit won’t be as bad, although maybe the Bears don’t have enough draft picks to acquire a stud QB and a rookie. Well, that looks moot now, anyway. We’ll see what happens but teams winning without a stud QB are rare and tend to be based in Baltimore.

What do expect from the Bears, they are going to allow that IDIOT Pace to be in charge of another draft as Doug Buffone would have said, I’m going to stick a pencil in my jugular vein!! What a cluster FU-K the McCaskey run bears are!!! What the HELL is wrong with the McCaskeys, insanity rules the day for them!!

  5. chucky Says:

Paul is right guys. Ryan Pace doesn’t know his ass from a goal post when it comes to good quarterbacks. Do you REALLY think he’ll finally get this draft right? Fuck no! And lets face it. The Bears didn’t have enough capitol to pull off a trade for Wilson or Watson. You can thank Pace for that too. And besides, drafting another quarterback only gives Matt Nagy another chance to destroy a career. I’m sorry for being Debbie Downer, but these are the facts. If you don’t believe me, I suggest you take another look at the header for this website. Those two asshole idiots are there for a reason, and it’s not for their pretty smiles.

  6. Paul E Johnson Says:

I hate to always be a Downer but what do the McCaskeys ever do that make you feel positive about the Bears , NOTHING!!!! I think the Frigging IDIOTS do it on purpose , how else can you explain what they do!! Has Ted Phillips retired yet??

Is this point of view total BS.. or is there something to it?

  8. genrebuster Says:

Also, in answer to your questions, Paul E.: NOTHING. NO.

  9. Paul Says:

Ryan Pace has screwed up the Bears to the point where they may never recover and you can THANK the Dumbass McCaskeys for that!!! Mike Glennon, Nick Fails, Kevin White, Mitch Trubisky you get the idea how bad Pace has been as a Gm and for some reason George McCaskey still won’t fire him , could someone please tell me why!!

  10. chucky Says:

I hate it when I am forced to agree with this fucktard. but here I am.

The only part I take issue with is when he says Turd Biscuit has been better than Dalton. Dalton is simply an older, more broken down version of Turd Biscuit. They’re both bad. If Pace wants to lose his job why doesn’t he just quit. Same with Nagy. The only good thing to come out of all this is that those two assholes will be gone on January 3.

  11. jerbates Says:

I’m personally relieved that the Seahawks chose not to take away a pile of draft picks (including 3 first rounders) and (potentially) Mack and/or Hicks in return for Russell Wilson.
    You hear me right.
What would have been the point? We watch Wilson running for his life behind a bad offensive line while a decimated defense is a shell of it’s former self? All while Pace gets a contract extension because, “We have to give it some time so see how this works out with Wilson.”
    No thank you.
The best thing Bears fans can *hope* for is that the ineptitude of Nagy and especially Pace, finally leads the Bears to a bottom of the league finish this season (unlike last season when Chicago benefited from every lucky bounce), and those two idiots are not renewed, and a new GM/coach goes into the 2022 draft with a chance to rebuild.

  12. jerbates Says:

Give up all hope as long as Pace is the GM!
All you need to know is that Pace traded up to draft Mitch Trubisky.

I shared this last year. Now I have updated it for the current season with a breakdown of how Pace and Nagy couldn’t even tank right last season.

  13. chucky Says:

jerbates…….that was excellent! My compliments sir. 100% spot on with every single word.

  14. Paul Says:

Look at the Bears past history, they always pick complete IDIOTS for GMs , what makes anyone think that will change!! Mike McCaskey, Jerry Angelo, Phil Emory, and now Ryan, The Moron, Pace!! You would think that they would by accident get at least one serviceable Gm out of that group but NO, the Cluster Fu-k Bears always screw it up!! This will never change until the Bears have a New owner!!

SHOW DA FIRE AND PASSION, MY FRENDT!
