A lose-lose situation.

by

Why do I say that after the Roquan Smith trade today? Simple. Ryan Poles has proven to be inept at drafting even after one year. Look at the picks. Joquan Brisker sucks. Kyler Gordon is trash. Velus Jones can’t hang onto a ball. And I am not even going to start talking about the others who are irrelevant by not playing, cut from the team (already!) or are hurt. Fuck it.

What makes anyone think that with all of these draft picks the Bears have that Poles will find competent football players? So he can have all 15 picks or whatever it will be this coming offseason. None of them are going to be good because he has proven in just one year that he cannot evaluate talent.

In short, it’s a lose-lose situation. Smith wasn’t going to re-sign and there was no way the Bears are going to turn things around this season. So I guess it’s great they got two draft picks. But again, those picks are going to be trash because of Poles’ ineptitude.

That’s all I have for now. Your thoughts in the thread.

Cap space is more important than the picks, although got more for him than I imagined. A guy who challenges the new management is a guy with one foot out the door no matter what.
Remember, the ghost of Pace still wanders the halls and closets (still jerking off in there)of Halas Hall. Lots needs fix.
Remember 2…Hub Arkush said last January the cap would be no problem so you know it is fucked up beyond recognition.

The Bears just traded their original second-round pick for wide receiver Chase Claypool. The Bears have him under contract until the end of the 2023 season.

Again, another lose-lose situation. Poles pisses on the draft picks anyway and they Claypool walks after next year (the Bears don’t make the playoffs again either).

All of this is meaningless until Poles does the right thing for the franchise and resigns.

He should’ve gotten more for Roquan.

  4. Pie in the Sky Says:

Wouldn’t the Bears have gotten a compensatory 3rd had Roquan just left via FA?

  5. Mark Johnson Says:

Pie– No compensatory pick. Note this says PRIOR free agent period. Besides, Poles obviously had other motivations with Roquan surrounding his meeting, salary expectations, and team leadership qualities have dropped off the radar since the salary blowup.

I will be off for the rest of this season. My vet has been gallantly nursing my dog along for months now but he finally decided to leave last week.
Being the last family member, I am off to Belize for a few years to conduct important work in bikini observation and grading. Wish me luck.
By the time I return I am sure this site will be a distant memory as all the Chicago teams will have become consummate winners.
Thanks for the laughs, intended or otherwise.

  7. Fro Dog Says:

No. You’re staying right here. If you try to leave, Chucky has a chainsaw and he isn’t afraid to use it.

I also have a lot of heavy mining equipment, so don’t fuck withe Chuck!

    Mark Johnson,

This site is exempt from becoming a “distant memory”…regardless of how bad Chicago sports teams are/will become.
Best of luck to you on your “grading” gig. I am a bit confused, though. Hasn’t Belize learned about this new thing called the internet???
Don’t be a stranger; maybe you can share some photos of your “research”.

    Later,
    Jimmy D.
