Bulls get their foots stuck up their asses; Blackhawks snap skid in shoutout.

Who farted?

1. The Chicago Bulls are bad. Real bad. I said in the beginning of the season for my prediction that they would be a .500 team. Right now, that would be a miracle. Other than Derrick Rose, there aren’t that many good players. I like Ben Gordon but his defense is awful. He can have those nights where he scores 35 but he thinks he can do it every night and that leads to problems. Tyrus Thomas will never be good. This damn turd continues to take outside shots when he keeps missing. His role is to be a post player who blocks shots and gets rebounds.

John Salmons and Brad Miller have been nice additions to the team but overall, this team cannot play any defense AT ALL. I kept telling myself that it might not be Vinny Del Negro’s fault that all of this crap is still happening but lately, I am beginning to think it is. The Eastern Conference sucks so bad that the Bulls STILL lead the 8th playoff spot.

That is what I am talking about.

2. The Chicago Blackhawks got back on track Wednesday night with a shooout win against the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2. The Hawks were less than a minute away from victory until Toews got called for a hooking penalty that led to the tying goal. Toews and Kane had shootout goals with Versteeg getting the game winner. Huet was ok in front of the net and Khabibulin should be starting here anytime soon.

I still felt Antti Niemi didn’t get a fair shot. My prediction was wrong about him having a good game Sunday but I don’t think it is right to judge somebody on just playing two games by already calling him just a backup. Especially when he did pretty well the first time around. I really felt he deserved to play the next game. Instead, he had to wait a week and he ended up playing really badly. Khabibulin really needs to play well when he returns. If not, then it could be bad news. In a perefect world, Huet would just go up to QuennStache and be like “Hey, I suck. Don’t play me.” instead of “Hey, I suck but throw me out there anyway.”

It’s been awhile since I posted something of any substance, so here goes:

I’ve long ago given on trying to predict just what Bulls team will show up to play. I generally will figure the bad team will show and for the most part they don’t disappoint.

I just can’t get into the Blackhawks or hockey in general. No objections about talking about it. I’m good with you guys saying whatever is on your minds on that subject.

I guess what I’m really looking forward to is some warmer weather. I’m so goddamned sick of winter I want to scream. I know the Cubs are a bit of a touchy subject, and I don’t want to ruffle anybody here. I’ll probably be looking at them from a little distance, both physically and mentally.

One thing I’m am more than ready for is little known and barely covered (in the media at least). Motorcycle road racing. These guys are something. 180 mph on the front straight at Road America. Can’t beat that. I really wish these guys could just get half the press coverage that baseball and football get.

    chucky,

I’ve been to Road America several times for Indy Car, Trans Am, and the June Sprints. I would love to just once take an Indy Car around the four mile, 14 turn road course. I’ve been to the Indy 500 ten times between 1975 and 1989. I quit going after Tony George fucked everything up and started the Indy Racing League.

What part of the track did you watch the races? I always set up between turns 7 and 8, right before the Snap-on bridge. I’ve been going up there since 1987. It’s been overrun by big ass RVs the 5 or 6 years, and the last 2 years it’s been all we can do to just survive and not drown from all the rain and flooding. I’ve wanted for years to see some different races but just haven’t done it yet. A friend of mine went up for the Generac 500 and he said the place was an absolute zoo. About twice as many people and cars than the AMA Superbike races. Just crazy.

I like the turn 7 and 8 area also. I sit on top of the hill by the concession stand. From there you can see the cars go into the carousel curve. A couple of other good spots are at turn 4 by the Corvette Corral or at Station 5. The cars are going balls out after turn 4, then have to brake hard at Station 5 to make the hard left turn.

That is a really good spot to watch the races. My only problem with it that the sun can get too intense for me. I have to very careful about that. I had a small spot show up on my face 16 years ago. Yeah, skin cancer. I refuse to stop living my life, hence I continue to make my yearly trek up north. But I have to find as much shade as possible.

Have you ever tried climbing that hill from turn 7? Man, my legs scream at me louder each year. It’s gotten to the point where I just drive around to get to that stand. But I agree, that is a great view.

    chucky,

It’s great to see you have such a positive attitude about your cancer. I have a good friend at work that two years ago, found a small spot on his face. He’s been through all the chemo and radiation treatments. He’s been back at work for the past six months, and is doing well.

As far as climbing the hill at turn 7, I drive up there also. I have my own health issues to deal with. I’ve been a COPD patient for the last 15 years. That means that my lungs are pretty much cooked. I can’t do too much as far as physical labor goes without being out of breath. I, as you, choose to continue with the best quality of life that we can.

SHOW DA FIRE AND PASSION, MY FRENDT!
